Thick lettuce?

All of the red and green leaf lettuce I've purchased since March has been very thick, more like cabbage. The strips I cut for tacos are more like uncooked spaghetti than lettuce. Anyone know why it's gone so thick? Or how I can find the more like how it used to be? I live in Seattle, Washington, not sure how regional this is. I've tried conventional and organic, purchased from a few different sources.

I buy my red leaf lettuce at Fred Meyer in the Seattle area and I haven't noticed this.

I’m of no help. I’m in Cincinnati OH and I’m actually eating organic red leaf lettuce in my salad today. It was a good head and I’m not sure where it was before my local Kroger lol!

@cmriverside which one? I went to Fred Meyer in Greenwood and it was super thick.

@solieco1 butter lettuce is so pale! But I think I'll get some anyway.

Yes but at least it's not iceberg :0 It has that soft consistency that's very good for some things like lettuce wraps etc.

I'm in the North end, so Kirkland, Bothell and Lynwood are the stores I go to. I just bought some yesterday. Maybe I just don't notice? I dunno, I go through head of leaf lettuce every couple days. Seems fine to me.
