Weight lose commercials
Alright! I am usually just mildly irritated by all those bogus commericials I see while working out that show the chunky person in the swim suit as the before photo and then a photo of an incredible body as the supposed after picture like 4-6 weeks later, but I had to hold myself back from speaking out loud in the middle…

Lit'l chick flick suggestions
My 12-yr-old daughter and I had our first girls-only weekend and saw The Vow in theaters and watched Soul surfer on DVD. The Vow was really good by the way. What other chick flicks are out that would be enjoyable but appropriate to watch with a tween?

idea for combating movie popcorn
So, I am about to act as chauffeur/chaparone for my 12-yr-old daughter and her friend to a movie, and I had an idea about how to not fall into the same trap of "I'll just have one handful" that never goes as planned. I have thrown a sandwich bag into my purse and will fill it with a personal protion from the pool-sized…

Couch to 5K victory
I just successfully did day 3 of week 5 (walk for 5 mins then jog for 20 without stopping). I was probably lapped by a snail or two, but my inner 12-yr-old who couldn't jog a mile without stopping at gun point is doing the happy dance.

Ladies, KNOCK OFF THE MALE BASHING PLEASE
First of all, I am a woman. Second of all, I see red as fast as any other woman when I read comments that are disrespectful about women such as rude comments about the female body, BUT....if there is a post asking for a man's point of view, it is at the very minimum rude to jump on the thread and add snarky comments about…

Looking for friends with equally warped sense of humor
Having been in a nurse for close to 20 yrs (DAMN I'M GETTING OLD) I have an ever increasing warped perspective on life, life choices,etc... that is not always understood/appreciated by "normals". I would love to interact with/support other like minded individuals if for no other reason to be assured that I ain't the only…

Fab ladies over 40: anyone else having issues doing 30DS
I know I can't be the only one out there! Jillian's 30DS is an awesome work out but it is very obvious Ms. Jillian has never had children and ain't over 40. All those jumping jacks are way too much for my bladder post two children. Kind of discouraging. Depends here I come

NEED INFO ON HOW TO PREV ENT DUMPING SYNDROME AFTER GASTRIC
I have an elderly family member who essentially had a gastric bypass due to ischemic bowel. He was essentially given no education afterwards and has been fighting chronic diarrhea and stomach pain and has lost a frightening amount of weight. His PCP just saw him and almost lost his mind when he saw how emaciated he is. The…

family falling out
I am going through a really heart breaking situaltion with my oldest sister and could use some objective insight. My sisters and I lost our parents in early adulthood and I for one developed a very strong devotion to family. My sisters became my foundation and the thought that any of them, especially my oldest sister,…

Anyone had advanced cholesterol testing (NMR) and treatment
I have had high cholesterol since my early teens and being in the healthcare field, I know that there are now advanced tests such as NMR that look at more than just the total chol, LDL, HDL ect... I also know that some physicians think this is all a bunch of whooey. I am inclined to give it some credit and have recently…

NSV pretty much
So...the thing that got me to try mfp in the first place was that I was limited to only wearing clothes that had elastic waistbands (since the closet gremlins had shrunk all my clothes ya know). I had hoped that by now that I would be able to comfortablely wear a lot of my clothes by now but have backed up my goal to be…

women only adding back 1/2 exercise cals
A registered dietician suggested that I might want to only eat back half of the calories I burn each day to address my plateau because the machines do not account for the typical lower muscle mass in women and threrefore may over-estimate the actual calories I burn. I really don't want to spend any cash on a personal heart…

Why MFP for you now?
Like many of you, I have been a life long battler of the bulge. When I was in my teens and early 20's, before my metabolism came to a streaking halt, I would go on what ever ridiculous new fad diet was buzzing around at that moment for about four days, eat everything in sight that weekend to prepare for the next " new leaf…

potentially stupid question
I noticed someone thanking a mfp for posting their food log, subsequently offering new ideas for meals. How would you go about posting your daily log?

Trying to shake the same 30 lbs again
I am new to the site and am looking for others who are fighting a similar battle. I have been successful a number of times in the past getting down to my target size but always put it back on. I think having the support of others working on the same thing would be very helpful and i would like to support others with the…
