Fitbit Rash/Burn?
Has anyone else experienced a rash or burn under the band of your Fitbit? I don't understand what this is because I've worn a Fitbit for years and all of the sudden, I started getting a red circle under the band that's rough and itchy. I moved my Fitbit to the other wrist, and the same exact thing happened. Nothing at all…

565 Days AF
Hi all! I'm excited to find this group. I'm an 'all or nothing' person and so moderation with alcohol doesn't work for me. I joined AA, got a sponsor, go to meetings and am working the steps. It's made a huge difference in my life by learning to take everything one day at a time and managing stress without drinking…

Women Only - 48yo Needing to Lose 100lbs: Post-Menopause/Widow
Hi Ladies! I have been struggling with consistent weight gain since my 47yo husband died unexpectedly in 2017. It was the shock of my life and completely changed everything in a way I didn't want it to change. I didn't think I would last 6 minutes, but here I am 6 years later. I'm at my highest weight ever because I'm an…

Hey, Coffee Lovers!
I used to make this 'skinny' peppermint mocha coffee for my husband before he passed. It was like $6 for a short at Starbucks AND it was only available during the winter. Also, a 'tall' peppermint mocha has 350 calories at Starbucks!!! With your own, you get to control how many calories yours has. It's super easy: - 8-12…

When we lose weight, where does it go?
I was curious, so I looked it up, watched a fascinating Ted Talk about the mathematics of weight loss and learned this: 84% of fat is exhaled as CO2 (carbon dioxide) 16% of fat is excreted as H20 (water) Not sure if it's accurate, but it was really interesting, and definitely over my head!

Easy High Protein Shake
For anyone to add more protein to their diet, this is a great, versatile protein shake base recipe: 1/2c cottage cheese 1 scoop protein powder 1/2 cup water And then add whatever you want! Today I added some brewed coffee, a dash of mint extract, whirred it up with my stick blender, and filled my cup with ice. It was a…

How to Permanently Stop Emotional Eating
For those of you have been successful with this, what is your best advice? I eat when I'm bored, sad, happy, depressed, anxious, and so on. I want to learn to eat for nutrition and to fuel my body, but I lapse back into old habits quickly. I'm almost the heaviest I've ever been. Along with recovering from foot surgery,…

Cooked Chicken Recipe Help.,.
I know chicken is on the brain today, but I cooked mine already. Besides tossing into salads, what else can I do? I looked around online and most recipes used chicken cooked in some sort of spice or with something else. Mine is just plain. I’m not very creative. Thanks for all ideas, even bad ones. JK!!

Post-surgery tips/friends?
Hi all! I had extensive foot surgery in early June and my recovery time is 6-8 weeks. I’m a 47yo widow and I live alone except for my jerk face dog that I love dearly. Haha. I don’t have any friends here, just a very critical and demeaning older sister with whom I get along with as long as I’m doing things on her terms. I…

Gained 12lbs in past 6 days?!?
I am so frustrated and don’t even know how this is possible. I log diligently (food scale/measuring cups), have an extremely active job and I never eat back the calories I’ve burned. I generally get in 12-15k steps a day because I work at a restaurant. I know weight loss isn’t a science, but I’m so frustrated. I have a LOT…

Goal Weight Support - Is This a Thing?
Is anyone leery of the attention you might get when you’re at your goal weight? I’m very tall with other assets men tend to like. I don’t feel comfortable at all at my current weight, even though I still get interest, but I don’t follow up. I attract attention everywhere I go due to my height. Strangers stop to talk to me…

Started Very Active Job - Balancing Weight Loss
Hello all and thanks for reading! I very recently went from a desk job for 25 years to a pretty active role where I’m on my feet and constantly walking, bending, reaching, etc. In just 4 hours yesterday, my FitBit recorded me having 7500 steps and burning almost 5000 calories. I’m probably 100lbs overweight right now and…

Do Macros Really Matter in Losing Weight?
Carbs, fat, protein....or just calories? I’ve been a life-long dieter and seriously never knew until today that excess protein is stored as fat. My sister told me and we argued about until she challenged me to look it up online and she’s apparently correct. I’m trying to make sense of it all after 20 years of being wrong…

FitBit Calorie Tracking Issues
Anyone else having these? Some days I’ll walk 5000 steps and my FB says I burned 650 calories, but MFP says only 75. That’s just an example. I’ve had to reinstall the MFP app on my iPhone and reconnect the MFP account to my FitBit account probably 50 times over the past year. It’ll work well for awhile, then my burned…

Losing/Getting Healthy While Grieving - Emotional Eating
My 45yo husband died unexpectedly not long ago and it turned my whole world upside down. I wasn’t in great shape to begin with, but since then, I‘ve gained about 50lbs stuffing my face when I was sad/lonely/depressed/anxious which was pretty much all day, every day. Some days still is. I still miss him an unmeasurable…

Continuous Problems Syncing to FitBit
MFP will sync for a few days and then stop. I then disconnect FitBit, wait a few minutes and re-connect it. SOmetimes it works, others it doesn't. This is one of those times it's not. This is incredibly annoying that it keeps happening. Am I doing something wrong? Why won't it sync???? Thanks!

Grief and PTSD Eating
I don’t know if anyone here has experienced what I e been going through for the last 2.5 years, but I’ve embarrassingly gained about 50lbs+. Unsupportive Sister
Every time I mention MFP my sister rolls her eyes. She said it’s ‘junk science.’ She’s never used it in her life. She’s losing weight by eating very little and walking 20K steps a day and gets mad when I don’t want to eat something because I don’t know the macros. I moved to live by her after I lost my husband and it sucks…

Exercising With Back Pain?
Since I got my Fitbit and have been exercising more, my back hurts all the dang time. I’m tall (6’3 {female}), and pretty heavy. I’ve been walking, jogging, doing this lateral stair-stepper at the gym, and I’m just in so much pain. I am seeing a chiropractor and I bought a TENS unit and use a heating pad, but it hurts…

Any other young-ish widows or widowers out there trying to lose?
I’m 43. I was 42 when the love of my life and my whole world was gone very suddenly and unexpectedly. Everything shifted. I spend most of my time looking up grief quotes on Pinterest and crying. I don’t know how to get over being devastated. It’s been over a year now, but I was with him half my life...we worked for the…

Feeling Exhausted Using New FitBit
I got a FitBit on Tuesday and, prior to that, I was pretty much sedentary. Now I’m trying to get 10K steps every day and I’m just exhausted!!! I take my dogs on at least one (sometimes two) long walk/jog every day, run laps around my backyard, march in place while watching TV, run up and down the stairs, etc. I’m doing…

I never feel full...
I don’t know if it’s because I’ve had *3* WLS or I just have no bottom, but something in me is messed up. I can eat 4 giant pieces of pizza or a double cheeseburger, large fries and a drink from Wendy’s and still be wondering what’s for dessert. Is it something mental that I’m missing or is the satiety valve (?) in my…

Grieving 42yo Widow
My husband died unexpectedly last year and I’ve just been in a tailspin. I never thought I’d be a widow at 42. I miss him so damn much. I miss him with every ounce of my being. Struggling 43yo Widow
My 47 year old husband died unexpectedly last July and I’m still a wreck. I’m seeing two therapists, but I’ve been having terrible memory problems since he died. What do you hate about being fat?
I hate always being sweaty, especially in the summer in Texas. I’m too fat to wear shorts so I wear jeans all summer. I rely and copious amounts of baby powder to help with all the sweat.
