My sister jan;)
She doesn't think she has any writing ability or maybe it's just she is shy(no, she is not shy, scratch that)but I want to introduce you to her and she allowed me to do so:) I can't tell you how proud I am of my sister. After smoking for many years, she finally gave them up and did it when she realized it was for…

Watch out for inaccuracies in database..
people/members have entered many foods into the MFP database. Maybe all of it(members I mean). My point is, be sure to check for accuracy. I am pretty stupid not to have checked the calories in Dynasty Jasmine Rice. I just entered it without thinking. It says for 1/2 a cup of prepared Dynasty Jasmine Rice, 107 calories.…

Greek Yogurt
this is a big fad but it may be a good one. Can some of you let me know the "good" brands to try? I was told always go for like 5, live cultured yogurt so I've been buying Mountain High. Open to suggestions and reasons why you may think Greek Yogurt is better for us? Thanks, Denise PS It better not be because of John…

Stairs and what I can use them for
I need to use what I have around home since I can't afford a gym or weightset right now. No I can't run up and down stairs but I live in a 3 level house(just rent a room)but I have stairs everywhere! Instead of doing typical lunges, what about the stairs? Can someone tell me what muscles that would work best if I made a…

Humble Pie for my dinner tonight:(
For the sake of "not" confusing anyone further on what the heck I am doing trying to "customize" my settings, I just have this to say as well as apologize to anyone who may have been confused. I have found that trying to keep track of my exercise calories each day is going to be easier for me with MFP's setup. So, with…

About good fats & our need for them
I am diggin deeper each day and find it so interesting I want to share it with those that have "inquiring minds" like mine:laugh: I had no clue about the good fat my body needs, the monounsaturated fats and the polyunsaturated fats. Remember, this is all stuff I read. I can't say it is a 100% true but it is interesting…

Love my new life but..
there seems to always be something that threatens to discourage me or put me into fear that I won't succeed. In the last 2 weeks I've had a little shocking sensation in my right arch. Very small and don't feel it when I am walking. Just when I kneel down and sort of stretch that area. No pain, just feels like a little…

now I have my settings even more..
customized since I learned about the different fats and how much poly/mono I need. Shoot, wish I was willing to learn about how to take care of my truck engine as well as I am learning to care for my bod;) denise:drinker: :drinker:

For anyone following my diaries
I have an average number of calories for each day now according to 3-5 days of moderate activity. I promised gals I would eat all my calories and I still am. But, if you notice in my Food Diary, it will show "extra calories earned with exercise". I wanted this to show for my records throughout my journey. I will NOT be…

When using TDEE method
I still would like a record of my exercise calories. I am guessing if others feel the same, they just enter them in as usual, but, stick to your Net Calories that we have each calculated and customized our goals with. Am I right? Then increase to a higher "acitivity level" setting, or lower depending on how you do each…

Be healthy, lose weight, or both?
When I first came here all I wanted was for that scale to go down. But when I started researching all "losing weight" entails, I realized that was not going to be my goal. My goal is now to get healthier by eating real foods and being active each day. Fat loss is a "bonus" to those things. I encourage anyone who came here…

Planned my menu, got way good numbers!
I am really getting a handle on planning my foods so I get that balance of nutrition. Would love feedback on my menu for today. For those of you that didn't read or see it, I did lose a pound after 2 weeks(actually about 5 ounces more than the pound) and that was eating back all the calories with MFP calcs! So didn't gain…

I just gotta thank everyone here..
on MFP. Today I ate the most balanced breakfast ever, drank two glasses of water this morning, walked two miles RT and got with a good stretch that just felt amazing! By the way, I burned 286 calories in the same 2 mile walk including my cool down stretching etc. About 50 more calories then typical!! All of the above is…

OMG, I'm gonna OD on breakfast alone, LOL!
I can't believe everything I have eaten so far. I just feel ravenous this a.m. but I have been eating enough I am sure. Just changed over a bit to foods that will balance out my protein, carb and fat intake each day. More exercise, LOL! Exercise, exercise, what we need is exercise:laugh: :drinker: :drinker:

Can someone recommend a 40, 30, 30 breakfast?
40% protein, 30% carbs, 30% fat? I have the same old thing but I am changing up and trying to stick to those numbers or close:) Any ideas welcome!! ty much, denise:drinker: :drinker:

New break'fast idea..
Still feel hungry, (as in starved, LOL!!)stays with me. I had a thin slice, multigrain roll, 1 tbsp avocado and poached, large egg. It was way delicious and I used some spray "can't believe it's not butter" and a little of my non-salt seasoning. I still am feeling empty though and first thing this a.m. I had 2 glasses of…

Now my food diary is looking good..
I found out what I need as far as proteins, carbs, and fats(as well as what they are and how they work!!) This is really starting to become more clear for me and my food diary is going to look a bit different. I am anxious to see my results now with losing weight, maintaining or building muscle and generally feeling great!…

Customizing the "Goals" area
I want to do this but I am not getting everything into my customized goals on MFP. It either won't hold/save what I put in or it doesn't allow me to enter it in at all. Does the Customize feature only allow "certain" customized numbers? What do others do they want to customize their numbers? thank you much, denise

Calorie Deficit for dummies, like me
I don't know if this has already been posted around here but I love this article/blog. It was so much easier for me to understand then anything I have read. So I am just going to past the link here for anyone like me, that is "still" not sure how this all works. Feedback welcome. I have to admit that my activity level has…

I am not doing TDEE right now, but I am eating my
exercise calories. I guess I am looking for more support from people that have eatin more, or their exercise calories, and succeeded. I feel I am stronger with much more energy just since before the 4th of July(when I started eating all my calories). I am not paying "much" attention to the scales, just seeing how I feel. I…

59 and more active then ever!
I am so excited about this journey as well as just being part of mfp. I want to encourage others my age especially because I don't see too many on the boards/forums. But I know there are many that have accounts but not active, yet:) I am walking on a regular basis because I love a slower pace and also, love the outdoors! I…

My first raft rowing lesson(no instructor)
where's the video camera when you could possibly be up for America's Funniest home-video:sad: It was humiliating but I always laugh hysterically when I am humiliated so maybe people thought I was having fun:blushing: Rowing a raft is HARD. Who would have guessed, I thought you just got in a rowed! I am so glad there were…

Any kayakers?
I am not, yet, but want to take a friend up on their offer to let me try out theirs to see if I want to get one. I am talking the inexpensive blow-up type where you are sitting more on top, not down in. I live on the river and it is so perfect(up above a smaller dam so really calm and hardly any of the home-owners here…

When do you turn your hrm off after exercise?
When your heart rate goes down, or you cool down I mean? Even though I am home now my calories are still going up. I bet I am gonna get flack here for not knowing, LOL!

Can some white-wine with dinner be ok, or can it hinder
new lifestyle progress? I love to have a glass of white wine(Pinot Grigio is a fave)while I am cooking dinner and then one with dinner. I did this last night for the first time since I started this journey in May. So I measured it out and had 12 ounces altogether. I looked up info before I had the wine and found that if…

My BMR
My BMR comes out to 1800 calories compared to what MFP has shown for me at 1200 calories per day?? My body fat % is 36.7 on the military calc. and on the old calc. it's 27.2?? I read all the material on Dan's thread and I don't get why there is such a difference and what is right and what is wrong? My stats are: age: 59…
