Strength training from home with no equipment;)
strength training with no equipment to speak of. I found this article that gave me some further ideas on building muscle. I like doing my "stuff" either outside or in my own livingroom. Just not a "gym" person. Thought if there were any others like me, they might like this site for ideas on strength training from home;)…

Before shots at 59 yrs old, no laughing!
I want to do this because of what I am learning. For me (I'm not saying this is for everyone) I am realizing I might very well gain weight the way I plan to add to my workout. But I want to shape up more, tone up. I am convinced the fat will go away but more important, I want to build muscle to protect my joints, feel good…

Anyone else feel horrified when they took their befores?
I hadn't taken any shots of my full body with front, back and side view. I wanted some to compare to the ones at the weight I want to be. I am still depressed over them. I saw myself skinnier then I am in fact skinnier doesn't fit the "picture" in any way. I am small-boned, 59, 5'2" and 133( I was 142 when I started back…

TOO THE WINNERS ON MFP!! Have I gotten it??:)
I think that proverbial light-bulb went on this a.m. I was so depressed over my pictures I took yesterday, 3 views of my body in bathing-suit, that I just got on here this a.m. and started reading, looking at other before and afters etc. I believe I have the idea now. It isn't about the scale. I need to change my focus…

Olympians/Athletes, what do they eat?
I wanted to post this here because it seems to be a reliable article. Here is one quote and then I will put the link. "The more strenuous a sport, the more calories an athlete needs to refuel their bodies and muscles properly for the work they are doing." IMO this article proves to me that you must eat according to your…

Pedometer VS Heart Rate Monitor
I have been "searching" for something that will work for me but not put a huge dent in my bank account, LOL! I met a guy in Kmart today that has been wearing the same Omron Pedometer(w/software to upload data to his computer)and he says it works great. On the other hand, I see people goin nuts for these Polar HRM's. Could…

Any success w/walking with hand weights(or wrist)?
I love walking and wanted to try it with weights but I am wondering if you can actually shape up(build up your arms)and is there any special way to "pump" your arms while walking? I did see a post on here but the gal I think has gone. I wrote to her but no answer. The post was back in 2011. Anyway, she said she used…

No problem "ever" bumping this article
I hope many new comers especially will consider this article before "making your plan of action". Remember there is water-weight, fat and lean muscle mass to lose or gain. Be nosey enough to find out which it is you really want to lose or gain. Everyone has a right to do things their own way but they also have a right to…

I'm off to a good start
and lost 7 lbs since I got my bike 2 weeks ago. It worries me a little that I lost that much but I know the water weight alone can dump off pretty fast. I am eating, boy am I eating, LOL! I am one of those that believes in eating up to half of my exercise calories. It just works for me and I have some days that it is hard…

I'm starting to log again now since I wanted to make
sure I was going to follow through on my exercise. I bought a cheap bike and it works great, so, now I walk and ride the bike(some variety). No weight training now but might again because I realize my upper body needs to build muscle as well. I am still going to eat part of my exercise calories because I lose weight when…

Hi Gals
I am back on my routine again(2nd day only)but I wanted to ask a question on logging gym workouts, weight-machines. Do any of you count any calories burned doing those exercises? The internet search doesn't bring up much on it, except how many you can burn if you are doing circuit training I think it's called. I don't do…

Has anyone tried I-Cool for menopause symptoms?
I hear it is way good for bone loss too. I am exercising regularly again and also eating right but I haven't been journalling here again. It's just a bad habit I fell into, not entering my daily foods and exercise. I am trying to get back into it. I hope someone might have tried the I-Cool as I want to get some if I get…

Hi Ya'll;) Never too old to start
I joined a gym finally. Even with the walking I've done, there is really no comparison. I just about died doing 7 minutes on an eliptical bicycle, LOLLLLLLLL! I know the scales can't always be trusted but
this a.m. I weighed, even after eating breakfast and I was down to a flat 133 lbs. I have gotten down to 127(lowest since I was in my late 30's)and so I look forward to seeing 120 something, LOL!! I seem to have a lot of success with eating over my calories one day and under the next. I do try to drink enough water but…
