For anyone following my diaries

I have an average number of calories for each day now according to 3-5 days of moderate activity. I promised gals I would eat all my calories and I still am. But, if you notice in my Food Diary, it will show "extra calories earned with exercise". I wanted this to show for my records throughout my journey. I will NOT be eating those calories though because they are accounted for already in my Total calories.

So, it may look like I am not eating all my calories, but I am. My total calories per day are 1404(which is the figure "after" taking out a 20% deficit so I can lose weight, hopefully:)

Just wanted some of the gals that are interested in following my progress or lack thereof, to understand why my diary needs to be setup like that for me. If I don't log my exercise, I have no record of it.

Be glad to explain if someone doesn't fully understand, denise:drinker: :drinker:

Well, I remember (I know this isn't ww's) but say if you had a total of 30 points a day and you did an excersie that counted for 4 points, that would be added to your total points and they always said to make sure you use those extra points. Hmmmm...I wonder if this is different?? But either way, you have got it going on Denise!

Yes, similar Jules except when MFP calculates for you, you do use those extra calories to your discretion(I ate mine). Now that I am doing an average daily intake(customized my goals), I don't add in my "extra points/calories" because they are already in that figure, 1404, an average of exercise. Make sense? If not, let me know;) denise:drinker: :drinker:

    Hi Denise,
I don't want to bombard you with questions and I can see the sense of this, but I am having difficulty taking the step to increase my daily calorie allowance. I'm so worried I'm going to gain back having worked hard to lose what I have so far!
I did the calculations on The Best Diet Plan that you sent me the link to (for which many thanks) and it comes out at over 1700 calories - that sounds very high to me, so I was wondering about trying 1500 and adjusting the protein/fat/carbs accordingly. What do you think? (There was a big difference between the calculated amount and the amount given by the generator) I'd be really grateful for your opinion as I see you are still losing - slowly, but that's the way to do it. How long have you been following this plan?
Thanks so much for helping us all along by allowing us to share your journey.

I would say whatever you feel is right for you. I try to remember to tell people that I am in the experimental stage and now, my sister is going with it too and her number and mine are the same so that makes it easy to work together with her. I had low energy and felt I was undereating for my activities. I felt very run-down. So I started looking into customizing my setting as MFP allows, sort of finding a better pace for me with eating and fitness. I can't say I will lose the weight I want to while holding onto muscle because I haven't succeeded yet. This is about my 4 days on the "average" plan. Before, I was on quite a few weeks of eating all my exercise calories. I stayed at the same weight. But who knows for sure why that was.

I wish I could help you more but all I can do is suggest things I've read like helloitsdans roadmap and the link on my profile about calorie deficit. You have to decide whether your way is best, what you are doing, or, do you think you need more fuel. The way I am doing it if I am not losing after 10 days, I am going to do one of two things. I am going to cut back on my calorie intake(mine is 1754 and then I minus the 20% deficit which equals 1404 per day figured by my activity level I chose which is moderate). Or I am going to increase my activities. I will choose the second most likely since I like eating around 1400, I don't get hungry often and I don't have to skimp and eat like a bird like when I do 1200 only.

I hope the helps you in some way. A doctor could set you up or dietician. I sure would go with someone that doesn't want to hand out diet pills like they are m&ms but there goes my opinion again;) denise
