Anyone doing / have done "Thinner, Leaner, Stronger"?
Hello all. I bought this book last week and started the programme today. I was just wondering whether anyone else has used / is using this programme? What do / did you think? I'm going for a 4 day split rather than a five day so that I can fit a bit of cardio in as recommended. :-)

How to squat lower...any tips?
OK - so I've recently started Stronglifts and am really enjoying it. I'm very weak and I started off two weeks ago only being able to squat 22lbs and yesterday managed 66lbs. I'm proud of that progress. Yes, indeedy. The thing is, I just can't get quite parallel, let alone below, on my squats. The rest of my form is fine,…

Kettlebells over barbell? Really?
OK, so, I've finally decided to bite the bullet and start proper barbell based weight training and, to give myself a good start, I'm trying to find a trainer to teach me the correct form for the basic compound lifts and also to help me until I feel confident with the equipment. This, however, has been a bit of a struggle.…

CKD: Getting back into keto - too easy? ;-)
Ha! I'm not complaining but I seem to find it really easy to hit ketosis. Sunday I had a full calorie soft drink, some ice cream, a smallish cake and a burger with a bun and had kicked myself out by evening. Still out the next morning but with fasting for 16 hours, some l-carnitine and a hard workout and I was back on keto…

HRM and strength training
i have been reading today that HRMs aren't accurate for strength training calorie burn. So, I'm doing Power 90 Sculpt and my HRM is telling me I burn around 250 calories in that roughly 30 minute time span. I am getting sweaty and my heart rate is elevated so.... is that burn possible? I am concerned as my plan was to eat…

5:2 diet - feedback?
So - some months ago there was a lot of talk on here about the 5:2 diet, following a UK documentary on intermittent fasting. I know a few people tried it following that show and was wondering if anyone had any feedback on their progress?

Best iPhone GPS app for running
So, at the moment I'm using MapMyRun which seems pretty good but their website is useless for graphs and things. What else is out there. Are RunKepper / Endomondo / Nike+ etc any better / more accurate? Thanks!

Macros and precision - how important is it REALLY?
So, lets say, hypothetically, I wanted to eat something that kept me within calories, within carbs and within protein BUT - it took me over on fat. does that really matter? Is 3 out of four measurements OK or would I be better off being under calories for the day and within fat?

micro weights / magnetic disks?
So, I'm attempting some sort of linear thing with my dumbbells and I'd like a bit more flexibility than the plates provided give me. Going up 2lbs each arm (4lbs total) each time is too much for me and I'd like to go up 1lb each arm. i thought you could buy small disks or magnatic micro weights but i can only find these in…

UK P90x people - which pull up bar did you buy?
I need something fairly cheap and easy to fit. Any recommendations? Amazon has quite a few!

Going backwards...
No, not running backwards, that would just be silly. Well, due to a booze related foot injury I've had to take two weeks off running. I was at Week 6 and then took the fortnight off and started again on Monday. I ran badly Monday and even more badly today. I'm struggling like it is week 1 again and I have a 5K on Saturday.…

Talk to me about birth control ...
So, I've been eating well and working out for 5 months now and have lost no weight at all (despite trying a few different calorie levels each for a good month at a time) and it has occurred to me that perhaps my birth control isn't helping. I currently use Depo Provera (the injection) and it is well known that this causes…

Awww...Jillian
I might hate her for shouting at me on 30DS, but this is pretty cute http://www.dailymail.co.uk/usshowbiz/article-2150021/Jillian-Michaels-introduces-new-adopted-daughter-active-lifestyle-park.html?ito=feeds-newsxml

Open relationships
Just wondering if I am welcome here. I have an open relationship with a man I adore but neither of us are settled or ready to settled. Can I still join in?

Fears and phobias
Not necessarily food related. :-) We all have weird things we are scared of or nervous of, right? Mine - phobia = spiders. Utterly horrified. infact anything with more than 4 legs freaks me out. Can cope with a 12 inch rat, just, but a 1/2 inch bug freaks me right out. fear - public speaking. I'm a pretty confident person…

Programmes that have not worked for you.
Yeah, this site is full of success stories - P90X transformations, massively whittled 30 day shred waists. We hear little about people not finishing the programme, or finishing and - heaven forbid - being unhappy with the results. I'm interested to hear about your wasted efforts - as I have a few of my own ;-) number 1 all…

Next step: Full body dumbell routines / basic barbell?
Hello I'd like some advice / input. So, I'm coming to the end of Chalean Extreme and have really enjoyed it. Whilst my ultimate aim is to start the Stronglifts 5x5 programme I am still fairly weak (still bicep curling at around 12lbs and failing at 8 reps weak) and so want to increase my strength at home before braving the…

Any really good baked/lower fat french frie recipes
Oh yeah, I love french fries, I really do (only we call 'em chips here) and I know you can bake them but every time I do I seem to end up with something mushy rather than crispy. More like thin roast potatoes. Not the same at all. Can anyone recommend me a recipe that works?

Precision Engineered Whey Protein

Two days in a row?
Is it a really bad idea to do 2 days in a row? I'm on week 2 and ran yesterday but feel fine, like I could run again today. Being able to run the occasional two days in a row would certainly help me fit this into my lifestyle more. What do you think?

Wine in cooking
Stoopid question alert: If I add wine to say, a bolognese sauce, and the liquid mainly cooks off, do I still need to add the calories in?

How do you calculate your speed / distance?
I have no idea how to work out my speed / distance run? I'm only on week 1 (just finished it today, hurrah) but would like to know how fast I'm going and how far. Is there an app I'm missing out on here? Thanks

Where did your food issues come from?
I am guessing a lot of us here have problems with food - everything from just eating a bit too much junk to EDs. I was just wondering whether anyone wanted to share where their problem with food came from as I've just worked mine out. Unhsurprisingly mine stems from my parents. when I was very young I was an extrmemly…

Crunches vs sit ups vs neither
So, on another thread there has been a discussion about whether or not to work the oblique muscles as it can make the waist look wider. Also someone mentioned that they do both crunches and sit ups. How is a crunch different to a sit up? (I, for some reason, always thought of crunches as the new and improved replacement…

Can someone explain the pink unciorn / broscience thing
I'm definitely missing some cultural references. Anyone want to explain the pink unicorns and the term "broscience" to an English girl?

Stronglifts / Starting Strength
I keep seeing these programmes mentioned as good options for a beginner to lifting but can someone please explain to me the difference between them. Before you ask, I have googled....and it is as clear as mud. :-)
