Questions for Zumba Instructors
To all you Zumba instructors, I'm entertaining the idea of becoming an instructor myself and am curious about your experiences. Did the Basics I training prepare you to begin teaching right away? How much can I expect to get paid? How much prep time to you need for classes? Do you enjoy teaching? How do you get people…

P90X and Breastfeeding
I thinking of starting P90X, but I'm currently breastfeeding. Should I be concerned about decreasing or completely losing my milk supply? I know the basics of staying hyrdated and eating enough, but not sure how such an intense workout will impact this. Also, I briefly looked over the nutrition plan, and it appears to…

Save my breasts!
Help me out people! I have a bag of frozen chicken breasts, and for whatever reason, they always come out tough, dry and chewy, no matter how I cook them. I can cook fresh chicken, and it turns out awesome. Is there a magic way to marinate them, a recipe that never fails, or a technique that I missed in home-ec class that…

Interesting article about fat loss
This article made things a little more clear for me, about fat cells and how they work. It also points out some interesting statistics. http://uniquehealthandwellness.com/?p=785

Another reason weight is just a number
A friend of mine posted a link to this blog and thought it would be beneficial for others to see: http://everydaypaleo.com/2011/06/22/attention-scale-addicts-part-2/ It shows the lady below who changed her diet and exercise habits, got great results, but stayed the same weight. Just another reason the number on the scale…

Healthy Life Poem
A friend of mine posted this poem on her blog, and I wanted to share it: It’s a passion, it’s a drive, It’s learning a new way of life. Asking how, asking why? Should I really give this a try? Step by step, you take the chance And never take a 2nd glance. Struggles, Hurdles, Progress & Pain, Everything you experience to…

Greek Yogurt without all the Carbs!
I love greek yogurt, and have been getting either Fage with the fruit cup on the side or Chobani with the fruit on the bottom. I love the amount of protein in them, but the carb count seems really high. Does anyone have suggestions of how to make plain greek yogurt tasty like my fruity ones, but without so much sugar?

Better than a sandwich - and only 125 calories (pics)
For lunch today, I decided to try something besides a boring sandwich. It's super easy and only 125 calories! This could also be a great appetizer for parties (less than 32 calories per piece). 4 Old London Melba Sancks (any variety works, but mine are Spicy 3 Pepper. I've also used the Roasted Garlic, which is nummy too)…

Exercise Guilt
I'm afraid I'm stuck in a Catch 22. I've been trying to do P90X. I love the workouts, I feel great after doing them, I can already see muscles emerging where they were lacking before, and I enjoy the challenge. However, I always feel guilty when I spend so much time working out. I work full time and have 2 kids (one is 2…

Protein bars have gotten tastier
I used to follow a higher protein diet, and often ate protein bars. Back then, everything I tried was gritty and had a weird after-taste about them. Just recently, I've started incorporating protein bars back into my diet, and am amazed at how great they taste, compared to what I ate years ago. Just this week, I had a…

Mama Pooch Problem
I am only 3 pounds away from my pre-pregnancy weight, but I still have a pooch on my tummy. I've got the stretch marks to go with it too! :frown: Any of you moms out there have a secret to getting rid of either of these? My baby is already 8 months old, and I was hoping to be back to normal by 9 months (since it took 9…

Who wants a Zac Efron Avocado?
I saw this on MSN today, and think it's actually a good idea. Marketing to children is a fact of like, so kudos to Disney for at least marketing something that is actually beneficial to the well-being of children. http://health.msn.com/blogs/daily-dose-post.aspx?post=1092343&_blg=1,1092343

Momentum / No Excuses HRM
Has anyone heard of / tried this? I found one on craigslist, and am looking to upgrade to a HRM with the chest strap. I can't find any reviews online, so I'm looking for some here.

Polar F4 vs F6
Looks like the F4 costs less than the F6. I workout at home, so I'm not worried about interference from other HRMs. Are there any other differences between these two models? Anyone tried both and have a preference?

Body Fat % Results
I went to our community rec center today to have my body composition tested. I'm close to my desired weight, but wanted to be sure my body fat % was following. I was pleasantly surprised! He did 3 tests for me. First, a standard bioelectrical impedance test, then an athletic bioelectrical impedance test, and finally a good…

Even kids like Laughing Cow!
I packed my lunch this morning, and put it in the tote bag I always carry to work, and set it by the door. My baby (almost 1 yr) was crawling around on the floor, and decided to dig through my bag while I was bustling around the kitchen. When I looked over, he had found my cheese wedge. He had used his little teeth to peel…

HG Mini Microwave Triple Chocolate Cake
I had promised to post this awhile back, and am just getting around to it now. I personally don't let it cool the whole 5 minutes directed. If it gets too cool, it gets hard  If you eat it warm, it's pretty tasty! 2 Tbsp Pillsbury Moist Supreme Reduced Sugar Cake Mix, Devil's Food 2 Tbsp Cool Whip Free 1 Tbsp…

Posting Info on Office Treats
Last night I made the diet soda cake that has been posted in the recipe section multiple times with the intention of bringing it to the office today. I know that several people in my office are watching their weight, so when I brought the pan of cake in today, I printed off the nutrition information from MFP, and taped it…

HRM Accuracy
I have an inexpensive HRM that I bought at Wal-Mart. It does not have a chest strap. Is there any way to know if it is returning an accurate number of calories burned? It seems to return a number significantly higher than what MFP estimates when I enter my exercise.

A small success, but it feels great!
I have a horrible sweet tooth, and zero willpower. That combination is usually what sabotages all of my weight loss efforts. That being said, I'm pretty proud of this small success - Someone brought cupcakes into work yesterday morning. I walked past them several times during the day and consciously told myself "No" each…

Any Venison Eaters Out There?
My husband and his family are avid hunters. This year we ended up with 10 deer, divided among 4 families. Needless to say, our freezer is full of venison. I know the meat is very lean, and I'm ok with logging the roasts/chops/etc. I'm just not sure how to log the processed stuff (snack sticks, sausage, hamburger). Would it…
