Staying calm success story
This is a different success story. I have been losing weight successfuly for one year, and I was close to GW (needed 5 more lbs or so) and maintenance. Now I was on vacation (no counting and definitely gaining) and got home sick (-> no sport for a few days) and I am NOT panicking! Typically, I would be miserable thinking…

race question
Hi I want to run a 10K and I feel like I would do better if I planned my pace for the first 2 thirds and then ran the rest as fast as possible. However - what do I use to check my pace during the race? Smartphone app? Just the clock? Anything else? How do you do that?

Lower weight - higher expectations?
The more weight I lose, the more bothered I am with "trouble zones". Before losing weight I was overweight and kind of ok with it. Now I am happy overall but I just up the bar more. Also lowered my GW by 5lbs. (No worries, still far from underweight!) Anyone else notice the same effect of raising the bar as you get closer…

*sigh* lowered my daily goal
My weight loss has slowed down... actually plataued. So I lowered my daily goal by 150 cal. Since I cannot run due to mysterious joint pain, this is going to be tough. I lift 3-4x a week but my strength has plataued as well - maybe that was it for the newbie gain that I can get on a deficit? So, another 10lbs until…

Performance - better after switching to maintenance?
Hi When you upped your calories to maintenance, did you notice a big change in your cardio and your lifting? Sengalissa

bench press beginner question
I don't feel cimfortable holding heavy weights over my head. I don't have a bench rack thing (appartment complex gym), only a bench. So I have been doing bench presses with the heaviest dumbbells I found in there - two 15lbs ones. I am ready to progress but don't know how without spending a fortune or getting hurt. Ideas?…

should I drop a hint?
So through five pregnancies, my weight went up and down. I have been successful losing the baby weight every time. Within this time, my husband put on weight and never worked on it. Maybe once or twice for a few weeks but never consistent. His health is affected (high cholesterol)... His dad died from cardiovascular stuff.…

Recovering from virus - eat at maintenance?
Hi I had a stomach bug for two days. Still feel a little shaky. My appetite is coming back, though, and now I am wondering whether to eat on maintenance for a while or stay in deficit. I want to get fit enough to run again soon!

Impatient!
I am one of those who come here to lose weight and then pick up exercise, get addicted and begin to forget about the scale... I am really into running these days (started 3 months ago), and I love thinking about my training plan etc. It is a wonderful way to appreciate my body, my fuel/food and my ME time. Although I am…

Well, that was easy to lose 1 pound!
My old one started to give me random readings even with new batteries, so I got a new one today. The new one gives me -1lbs compared to the old one :drinker: Love this scale  You might think I am cheating - but my OLD scale I had bought three years ago from a thrift store. So, which one would you believe is correct…

New hair cut, tattoo, piercing,...
Hi 6lbs from goal weight (30 down) I am beginning to think what I would like to do when I reach my goal. I am thinking about getting my ears pierced and then get myself sneaker earrings :) To celebrate my new lifestyle - and as a reminder to myself. Anyone can relate or did something similar?

lack of sleep
I need some empathy! My youngest (13 months) wakes up all the time right now (first she was sick and now I don't know what) so in the mornings I have two choices. Get up at 5 to work out but being so tired the workout is no fun and I have to eat to stay awake. Or skip the workout and be frustrated but not as tired. Anyone…

Running beginner question
Hi I am trying to run 5K in under 30 minutes. I made it once or twice but I do not seem to get faster on a reliable basis. Today, I looked at my splits (on mapmyrun) and noticed that my 1st and 2nd kilometer are relatively fast (a pace under 6min) and then I get slower and slower. It does not feel that way when I run.…

Overdone today and now I feel fat
I ate 500 over my daily goal today. That has not happened before. My mind knows it is not a problem. But now I feel fat again. The way my body feels is just like I felt before I lost weight. I am close to maintenance and I am really far from fat (134lbs) but I need a mirror to believe it. Why is my self-esteem tied to…

Today's NSV
Simply this: jeans size 6. Was a 12 before this weight loss journey. Had been an 8 for months now. Size 6 today was not even tight. :drinker:

Butt question
Hi I am about 135lbs and would like to lose another 8 (lost 30 so far). But I also wanted to get in shape and started running and heavy lifting (5x5). Lifting I started like 7 weeks ago. The results are awesome. I used to have a big, soft butt with cellilitis. Now the upper part of my butt is very firm. However, the lower…

Weightlifting/running ratio
Hi I started losing weight half a year ago (post baby) and doing exercise about 6 weeks ago. At the beginning, I liked heavy lifting a lot (Stronglifts 5x5), I only did a little bit of cardio (running) in between. Now I am beginning to enjoy running a LOT, I like the rhythm of it, one can do it outside etc. Also, I like…

NSV "When do moms get a small butt again …
…after having a baby?" Askedmy 6yo yesterday. Was my 6yo losing patience with me? I did not know what to say. Get defensive and tell her that our baby is not even a year? Ignore her? Or face the question? "Erm… depends on how hard you work for it. Why are you asking?" "Because I have looked at your butt before and it was…

Done too much?
Hi I am disappointed right now and don't know where to turn :( I lost 30lbs over the past 8 months (on-off, calorie-deficit only), and 6 weeks ago I added 3x/week of lifting and 3-4x/week running 40min. I got a fitbit and in my normal day, I walk around 9000 steps on top of exercise (homeschooling mom of 5 :) ). During…

Words of wisdom
Let's gather some words of wisdom. Little things you realized throughout your journey (that have not been mentioned a million times before). - The fitbit taught me something. I had always thought that running for 30min a day does not make a huge difference in a long day when it comes to calories burned. But I did not have…

Sweet NSV
With my weight stalling for one month, I suddenly lost a lot of inches in the past 2 weeks. (Calorie deficit and lifting weights/cardio, nothing special.) I went from "ignore the mirror" (or 'check if those pants cover up my saddlebags well enough") to "hey, I look great!". I love mirrors now! Since I can hardly believe…

Not overweight anymore!
So awesome! Today I crossed the overweight line. No I am in the normal weight range. Still 18lbs to go, though! The best thing about it: I had paused for 3-4 weeks, but did not gain weight. Started again 5 days ago as started to lose fast right away.

fell off the wagon
After a camping trip during the weekend, I stopped tracking. Everytime I have to let go for instance for vacation etc (I cannot track without www connection and scale because I know that I am doing bad estimates) I have an extremely hard time getting into the flow again. I know it is easy to DO but it is so hard to START…

protein shake - timing matters?
I workout (shred) in the morning before breakfast. Since I do eat back calories and my protein intake tends to be low I want to try out drinking a shake. One drinks them right after workout, right? However, that is breakfast time, and shake plus breakfast is too much. So I thought I could make the shake an afternoon snack.…

today's fitness nsv
A friend of mine, it turns out, is a personal trainer. I asked her some things about lifting, and she asked me if I wanted to do a fitness dvd with her. I said yes, and was a little scared. I thought I'd totally make a fool of myself, 6 pregnancies, still officially overweight. I started shred three weeks ago, though.…

Shred plus bodyweight exercises too much?
Hi I am at Level 2, day 4 in the 30DS, and I do it early in the morning. Although I find it demanding in the moment, it does not feel enough for a day. I would like to add something in the evening and want to do some more bodyweight exercises (from YAYOG) in the evening, say 20 intense minutes. Do you think that's too…

NSV today
I was entering my lunch calories into myfitnesspal. My seven-year old asked me what I was doing and I said "I am counting how much I eat because the baby made me big." She looked at me, surprised. "Mommy, you're not big. What are you talking about?" Almost not overweight anymore...

need advice
Hi all I would appreciate some advice on how to customize my exercise. After having a baby (she is 3 months now), I counted calories and went from 172 to 155lbs. Before getting pregnant, I weighed 130lbs, and that's where I want to be again. Back then, I ran 3x a week for 45 minutes and rode my bike here and there. Now the…
