Weight changes and lifting
Seems obvious but if my weight goes up in conjunction with my ability to lift higher weights and more reps and ability to do more pushups—- that means I’m gaining muscle right?

How much weight should I lose?
I'm at 180 now, 5'6" I'd like to have more definition in my abs. I know you lose fat randomly, and can't target, I'm just saying that that's my overall goal.

NSV - pushups and strength
I actually weight 10 pounds more than the 2013 pic and 30 pounds more than the 2014. But back then I could barely do 15 pushups, and now I can regularly do over 30. I guess my point is that it's not always about the scale, or even how you look. 2013 (174lbs) 2014 (154lbs) 2017 (180lbs)

Difference between flexed and relaxed
Although u have long way to go (20lbs!!!) I take a little solace in some tiny definition when I flex lol. Still chubby tho!

Still fat?

Weightlifting weight gain
Hey guys. I've been lifting on a regimen since early June and have gotten results including weight gain. My clothes still fit decently so even tho I've certainly put on some fat there's muscle too. I can tell just by the fact that certain weights are easier and I can do over 30 push-ups at once whilere I used to struggle…

No idea lbs difference, but I notice visually!
I've been seeing a personal trainer, and she put me on a regimen of strength training with cardio and diet. I'm not exactly a body builder now, but I can tell the difference!
-
I'm apparently obese? 5'6" 176lbs 26%
I had my second session with a personal trainer today. I was more flexible and stronger than I was the last time (a month ago) but my body fat was the exact same. Not only that, it put me in the 'obese' range. Now, I'm not dumb, I know I could lose a few pounds. Maybe even 20! But I really don't think I'm obese. Am I…

Missed a week but got back on
It was hot as hell and I had extra work in addition to day job. However I tried to continue to eat right and got back on the wagon this week. Cool thing: I can do 30 push-ups in a row! 20 used to be a struggle even 15. So I'm more proud of this than weight or body fat

Same weight, different look!
Sorry for the boxer shorts, though... :-/

training for bicycle race
Hey! I think I'm going to enter a bike race that's 17 miles long. I know for sure I've ridden ~10 miles at a go. What would be a good training routine to work up to 17? I assume a combination of short sprinting rides, plus some longer ones, but not sure of how many of each. Thanks!

The mirror doesn't lie, but I wish it did
I know it's a long haul, but I have lost 15 pounds since August, and when I sit down I still look pretty flabby. How do you stay motivated? 174 to 159 Current Weight, sitting: Original Weight, sitting Unflexed Side, current weight Unflexed Side, original weight Unflexed front, current weight Unflexed Front, original weight

Shocked by my body fat % :-(
Had my first session with a personal trainer in years. I definitely learned a lot, and worked out WAY harder than my usual at-home barbell lifting and bike riding. And... I will need to work out harder after finding my body fat had gone up from 18% a couple years ago to 26% today. Here is photo proof. Weight: 175lbs Height…

Lifting "success" (sort of)
I've shifted from burning fat to getting more muscle. I bought some hand barbells and can tell at least that I can lift more than I could when I bought them a couple months ago. This is the first time since college that I have actually tried lifting weights. Before now, I just ran and biked a lot, but never thought about…

Resistance/strength training at a deficit?
So this is how i look now after a couple months of strength training. I've tried to maintain 30-40 pushups, planks for 40 seconds on each side and then 60 bicycle crunches, four days per week. I've gained weight, but I think some of it is muscle as a few weeks ago I got my body fat tested and it was about the same as…

Weight fluctuation. Help!
Anybody else have huge fluctuations? not just in terms of poundage, but appearance. This is me today at 165. I look and feel flabby and bloated. This is me a couple days ago. I know I don't look like Adonis, but there's definition and everything. 161lbs And this is me a couple months ago, in the 150s. That's where I'd like…

One month of strength training.
Do you notice a difference? 3-11-15 (Before) 4-13-15

How many pounds of fat do I have to lose...
to get a six pack, in people's opinion?

Holiday Slackage
I've been on here before about how shame motivates me, but in truth (maybe obviously) it just got me down. This year, prior to the holidays and a trip down south with my wife, I prepped myself, "Look, in the past, you've gained about five pounds on vacation, and with hard work and counting calories, lost it pretty soon…
-
Pushups/Situps/Planks
This is sort of a vanity issue but figured I'd put it up there for debate/feedback: Do you think, based on my perceived bodyfat, that I could get more definition without using weights, just bodyweight exercises? Or will I reach a plateau without a) cutting more fat and b) lifting heavier? I mean I know i'd get BETTER…

Anyone else motivated by shame?
5-6 pounds ago I stopped because I thought, eh, I look fine. Then I took a break because work became really stressful and I couldn't stress about calories and that. Well, now I've got my beerbelly back and I'm suddenly super motivated to work out, eat less, etc.

Lost 10 pounds of 'summer vacation' weight
I am 5'6" I had lost 20 pounds from September 2013, but gained some back when I went on a 2-week vacation and pretended I had the metabolism of a pre-DUI Michael Phelps. I cut calories, paid attention to macros (60 grams of protein a day, not super easy as a vegetarian, but I made it), and added a regimen of pushups,…

i don't respond well to positive feedback
i know I'm not obese, and that's perhaps why I realize I need tougher 'love'. I'm losing for vanity, at this point, so I like to hear the most honest, superficial truth. I am not very fit, you can't see my muscles, it's just a layer of pudge. I'd love to hear honest opinions, especially about my belly. I've been trying to…
-
Let myself go!
So I have let myself go over the last three weeks, went on vacation, didn't exercise, didn't count calories. I knew I'd face an uphill battle coming back, but I didn't expect 10 pounds! How did I possibly gain ten pounds in 3 weeks? But it's not just water weight, as I measured my belly and have gained a couple inches…
-
Cycling Calories
So when I'm riding in the big city, obviously sometimes I'm stopped at a red light, other times I'm pedaling super fast, other times I just glide. It's impossible to know precisely what part of the 1hr ride, each way, I was doing each. I rode an hour into and out of the city, and estimated my average speed was about 10mph.…
-
Weight Fluctuation
Hey, so I weighed 153.8 last week, and 159.8 this week. That's insane right? It's been hot, so maybe I'm retaining a heck of a lot of water?
-
looking forward to looking better from this angle!

Stress and Weight Gain
So after maintaining a 22lbs weight loss for a few months, I had a stressful 2-3 weeks and have gained a couple pounds back (or so). I am trying to not be hard on myself, go back to logging my food in MFP, but sometimes I just sit and and obsess over the new roll of fat around my waist (that's always where I gain at first)…
-
20 pounds yo!
From 174 to 153.8! I'm 5'6". Did it through counting calories, and exercise. I found using the basal metabolic rate and really crunching the numbers to be way more effective than eyeballing it. I think now that I'm basically at my goal, I will try to be healthy, but less obsessive about counting. 174 153.8

Skinny-fat or just still fat?
Be brutally honest!
