Do I need to eat below my calories goal?
My target is about 1300 calories per day. I exercise 4x/week and burn about 500 calories each time. However, I've consistently been eating a little above my calorie goal whether it's 1300 or 1800. I've been doing this for a month now, and I've gotten tighter but not lost weight. I ultimately want to lose weight and slim…

Juicing breakfast and lunch?
I want to hear people who have juiced before. I plan to juice for breakfast and lunch and eat a vegetarian meal for dinner (I'm vegetarian). I plan to do this for a month while exercising for 30 minutes five days a week. Has anyone done something similar? Did you see results and how did you feel? Since this will be my…

Eating after Midnight
As a college student, I often study past midnight and I like to grace on snacks as I study (it's a bad habit). Anyway, I'm curious to hear how you record your food logs when you eat past midnight. Do you count it as a continuation of the current day or as the next day? I guess it kind of matters because if you count it as…

Eating before a workout
I want to start going to the gym again but I only have time to do it in the morning before school. I know it's suggestive to eat something 45 minutes before a workout. However, given that I'll be exercising in the morning, I don't want to wake up even earlier to get a little food in. I plan on eating breakfast after a…

Calorie burned on Cybex 750AT
Many people including myself burn off huge amounts of calories on the arc trainer. I burn over 500 calories in 30 mins. My HR according to the machine is 150-160. Has anyone used Cybex with their own HRM. Does it actually burn that many calories?

Carb-Fat-Protein Ratio
Low-carb Low-fat High-carb and high-protein Does any of those actually matter for weight loss? Sure if you only eat fat, you'll gain some weight. But in general, if you ate moderate portions of all three and didn't follow a strict low-carb diet for example, will you still lose the same weight? I've read a few studies that…

Ex Vegan?
I turned vegan a month ago to be even healthier than being a vegetarian. I also thought I could lose more weight that way. Unfortunately, neither of that has happened. I found myself filling the void of dairy food with junk food and carb-rich food. I work late into the night everyday and I always snack during the night.…

30 Day Challenge!
In April, I will go to the gym everyday. No matter how busy I am, I will still make time for it. If I wake up 30 minutes early, that's 30 minutes I could've spent at the gym. Let's motivate each other! Who's with me?

30 Days of Motivation?
For those of you who have finished 30DS or has started it, how do you keep motivated to do it everyday? And what do you do after you've finished 30 days? Start the cycle again?

How accurate are HRM on cardio machines?
The True Fitness elliptical machine at my gym has Polar installed in it. I'm not sure how it measure my HR but, when I put my hands on the metal handles, the HR number comes up. Anyway, I know the number is probably a hit or miss. Has anyone bought a Polar HRM and compared to the accuracy of that shown on cardio machines?…

Rowing Machines
Are stationary rowing machines a good tool for toning the body? I have a lot of female crew friends but they all have wide shoulders and bulky back from rowing. Granted, they are toned and fit but I don't want an upside down triangle shape. My goal is to slimmer legs and arms--like cross country runners. (I'm not good at…

Rowing Machines
My usual gym routine is 30-45 minutes on the elliptical. I've been doing that for three months and I'm bored of it. I tried a rowing machine today and I quite like it! It's like cardio and strength combined. Does anyone else row? What's a good speed or distance to aim for? Any other advices are helpful too.

Ladies--TOM
What are some side affects of missing periods due to weight loss? My mother, a former doctor, cautioned me that I would age faster if I am not menstruating. While I trust her, I can't help but think of my athletic friends who haven't gotten their periods in a year or two and the effect it has on them too. It's probably…

Eating more than 1200 calories?
Technically, we will still lose weight if we eat around 1500-1700 calories right? That's not factoring exercise calories or lifestyle differences. I'm asking this for general cases.

LADIES: Question about TOM
Has any of you missed periods due to weight loss? Last month I was afraid that I missed TOM but it turned out to be a week late. Time flies by fast and before I knew it, it's March 27th and I haven't had my period this month. I've been exercising everyday and eating at least 1200 calories, which is more than I ate last…

Obsessed
I may not have an eating disorder but I may have a mental disorder... I'm OBSESSED with eating right and losing weight, regardless if I am seeing results or not. I have to know the calories and ingredients of everything I eat. I have to make time for workout everyday or else I get extremely disappointed. I have to log…

From eating exercise calories to binging?
This week I started to make sure that my NET calorie is 1200. I burn about 500 calories exercising everyday and I'm trying hard to allow myself to eat those calories back. Unfortunately the past three days have been terrible for me. I'd start eating more food and that turns to a binge of 1000 calories. Gahhh, a part of me…

HRM suggestions

Cutting out fruits?
Has anyone experienced weight loss after eliminating fruits? For me, fruits make up half or more of my carb and sugar intake. I wonder how much more effective my weight loss would be if I eliminate that.

Are fruits bad? So conflicted!
1. I'm a vegan. 2. I eat as much as 200 carbs on some days. 3. Probably half of those carbs come from fruits. I love fruits. I snack on fruits instead of junk food or sweets. I usually have 4-5 apples or bananas a day. I only have access to apples and bananas because they're the only whole (uncanned) fruits served in my…

Stomach getting larger?
I eat very healthy and exercise regularly. I'm gaining muscles on my legs and arms and I'm thin enough to to see my rib cages. However, the part below my rib cages and above my hips isn't getting toned at all. In fact, that area seems to be growing larger and fatter over the weeks despite doing ab workouts. I'm confused…

Losing the last 10 lb
I've been struggling to lose the last few pounds. I eat about 1200 calories and do cardio 3-5 times a week. I've heard that if you up your calorie intake to 1200-1600, you'll actually lose weight faster than if you lower your calorie intake. Is that true?

Late Exercise & Net Calorie
My gym closes at 12 AM and I usually go at 11 PM for 45 min. Before gym I have usually consumed 1200 calories and I don't eat (and go to bed) after gym. FRUIT SUGAR
I changed my diary setting from cholesterol to sugars. To my surprise, I've been consuming roughly 120 g of sugar everyday! That's about 5 times of my recommended limit. Jillian Michaels: 30 Day Shred or Ripped in 30?
I usually do 45 min on the elliptical 3 times a week. I want to incorporate one of those videos into my routine. Which one do you guys suggest? I think Level 1 of 30 Day Shred might be too easy for me. Ripped in 30 seems like it combines the harder moves of 30 Day Shred. What do you think?
