Losing the last 10 lb

I've been struggling to lose the last few pounds. I eat about 1200 calories and do cardio 3-5 times a week. I've heard that if you up your calorie intake to 1200-1600, you'll actually lose weight faster than if you lower your calorie intake. Is that true?

I was eating 1200 then i upped it to 1370 (changed my settings to lose 1 lb/week rather than 2 lbs/week) and the weight started coming off again...i've still got 15 lbs more to go.0

Try adding in some weight training. It helps you to increase the number of calories your body burns when you are not working out.0

Same here, I increased my calories by 300 (1200 to 1530) and the weight started coming off. I would just play around with it to see what works for you, everyone is different. Good luck!0

Well, I didn't change my MFP calorie setting, however I did eat back almost all of my exercise cals. That would average between 1500-1700 a day usually. It took me FOREVER to break into the last 15, but once I started eating more the weight came off faster. I also added weight training. So, I think that made a huge difference too. I was doing a lot of cardio and the scale just was not moving, so I started eating more and it started to move a little more. Once I added weights I started averaging over a pound a week, which had never happened before. EVER.0

Those last 10 pounds are real hard to get rid of, no? I was losing steadily until I got to the 10 point mark.0

What kind of weight training did you do?0 -
Yes, it will work. I was on a 6 week plateau, I increased my calories to 1400/day, eat back my exercise calories and started dropping weight again. It sounds strange that you have to eat more to lose more, but it is true to an extent because if you eat, it keeps your metabolism up.0

Weight training is SOOOO important in losing the last 10...I do the P90X lifting routines twice week...so awesome!!! Check out my blog for my work out schedule and more details on increasing my calories0

For weight training, I love P90X's upper body workout. But the DVD is quite expensive, so I wouldn't say you should go buy it. Try google online to find some weight training workout moves.
For P90x's chest & back workout, it just keep doing different type of push-ups then pull-ups; The shoulders & arms focused on bicep, tricep, and shoulders. It also has a great leg workout too which I haven't got a chance to do it. Leg workouts can have lungs, wall sit, etc. Just google it with all these key words.
BTW, i only have total 9 lb to loose since mid jan. I've lost almost 7 lb for about 2 month. I use the MFP setting without changing the total calories. I workout 5-6 times a week, 2-3 times weight training, bunch of different workout in between (including but not limited to: swimming, running (sometimes with HIIT), elliptical, DVD workout (like Jillian Michaels), etc)0 -
Weights Weights Weights - like people said. Cardio junkies are missing the boat here! When I do a cutting phase, I'll be using BodyRock.tv workouts as additional cardio because it's not just a dumb machine. It's full body resistance work and it does the job.
Moderate intensity is a waste of time! Push super hard, using intervals and be done! Here's a small example of a bodyweight circuit I might have a client do who's looking to drop a few pounds.
Moving Push-Ups
Jump Lunges
Deep Squats with Shoulder Press
Burpees
If you did 1 minute timed each move, then took a 1 minute break after all 4, and did that 2 more times. That would be a 12 minute workout that would completely bust your *kitten* and drain a million calories, as well as building muscle and getting more and more ripped.
It's simple stuff, but it shows amazing results as opposed to getting on a dumb machine for an hour and being bored out of your mind.
Best of luck - let me know if you have a question.

I started P90X and it was the best thing I've done for myself fitness wise. Once I started that program and eating more calories the weigh literally fell off. I am so much stronger, leaner, thinner, tighter, toned any word you can think of that you want you body to look like P90X will get you there. It's hard, but I believe any woman can do this, ANY WOMAN. (without health issues) Women are tougher that we think sometimes and this program will prove it. It's awesome.0 -
read this post; http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/196502-for-the-people-who-work-out-like-crazy-and-are-not-losing its about finding that balance with food and nourishing/fueling the body instead of working against it.0

I've just started weight training. Only 3 pounds to lose until I hit my goal weight.0

I would have to agree with those saying to increase your calories. I also ate 1200 calories a day for about a month and lost 3-4 lbs. Then the weight slowed down. Now I'm trying to eat at least 1300-1400 calories plus exercise calories. I do intervals on the treadmill and lift weights. It might take awhile for those last 10 lbs, but I guess we all have to be patient0

I've done P90X and P90X Plus for over a year now. I also add in extra cardio. My goal is set for 1250 and once I add exercise I take in anywhere from 1850-over 2000 calories on some days. When I signed up for MFP about 2 weeks ago I was 120, weighed in this morning at 115 exactly. My next goal is 110, we'll see how these last 5 pounds go but the first 5 seemed fine as soon as I started eating enough.0
