Rowing Machines

Are stationary rowing machines a good tool for toning the body? I have a lot of female crew friends but they all have wide shoulders and bulky back from rowing. Granted, they are toned and fit but I don't want an upside down triangle shape. My goal is to slimmer legs and arms--like cross country runners. (I'm not good at running or the treadmill but that's another story.)

Crew and doing the row machine once in a while for a good calorie burn are two very different things. I love to row and it a great whole body work out. I recommend it with out fear of a rowers body unless that is all you do. Keep up with other cardio just add ita as an alternative.0
