FRUIT SUGAR

I changed my diary setting from cholesterol to sugars. To my surprise, I've been consuming roughly 120 g of sugar everyday! That's about 5 times of my recommended limit. My diet is mainly vegetables, fruits, oats and greek yogurt. On a typical day, I'd eat or snack on apples, banana, grapes, blueberries, and strawberries (yes all in a single day). I knew that fruits had a lot of natural sugar and carbs but this number blew my mind. I'm still losing weight each week but I don't know if I should restrict my fruit intake.

This site does not separate fruit sugars from white refined sugars.

Fruit is healthy for you. Just like everything goes, moderation is the key. I don't know what your daily intake looks like, but yeah, you can go overboard on fruit.

I get what others are saying. Yes, they're right, to a degree. Just because something is healthy doesn't mean it's unlimited. ;)

Yeah, but there is such a thing as too much.
It is possible to put too much gas in a car. We wouldn't do that, right? :)

I would continue to eat fruits. Berries are terrific antioxidants:bigsmile: and great for losing weigh as are bananas. And all are natural sugar, so as long as you are not diabetic there is nothing wrong with that. Just make sure that you pair it with a fair amount of protein. Carbs or fruit fuel you for a workout, fuel your brain. keep your insides healthy. And you are losing weight so keep on keepin on.

I was just about to write a topic on this very subject! I was personally blown away by the sugar content I had been taking in from fruit. I am consuming 4 pieces of fruit a day, (bananas a fave after workouts) and couldn't believe my numbers. Sigh. I am thinking of trying to up my veggies a little more to see if that brings it down a little. I am averaging 50 points over my slated allotment. Is that really all I am allowed or is this another case of MFP making assumptions about the "cookie cutter" human being's needs?
