LADIES: Question about TOM

Has any of you missed periods due to weight loss?

Last month I was afraid that I missed TOM but it turned out to be a week late. Time flies by fast and before I knew it, it's March 27th and I haven't had my period this month. I've been exercising everyday and eating at least 1200 calories, which is more than I ate last month, so I don't know if I should be worried.

  • I've been irregular, but not actually missed one. they tend to be coming early every month so far.

Your body is adjusting to teh changes you're putting it through with exercise and food. It may take a few cycles, but it will eventually normal out again. When I ramp up my exercising I'll miss a few too or they'll be infrequent. It might help you to know that many professional female athletes in certain sports rarely have periods because of their exercise routines/diets.

I didn't get mine last month either, and then today (1 month and 1/2 later) it decided to come. It kinda freaked me out. but WOOO HOOO! It means I'm not pregnant or have something else wrong with me!!

Anyway, how much do you weigh and what is your height? Sometimes this can happen from drastic changes in diet. But it can also happen when we are low on nutrition too. Start Keeping track, if you lose 3 periods in a row, then go she your gyno.

*edit, sorry I was writing while distracted here.

Keep tabs on it and write down your last period start and end dates. If you find your cycle is completely whacked for March and April, a visit to the doc might be in order.

Unfortunately, I've completely lost mine due to my eating disorder.
It's a key-sign and it's definitely one of the main criteria for being diagnosed with Anorexia.
    So please be safe!

I've been dieting and exercising since the beginning of February and I just recently got my TOM. It was about a week late. Hopefully everything will adjust accordingly as my body gets use to the changes I've made.
  • I havn't had a period since November, so thats 5 months-ish...and no sign of one on its way :/
not too sure what to do really!

I use an app on my iPhone. Period Tracker.
I was late the first two months doing this but now the tracker seems to be predicting me to the day again.
It's a free app for the light version.
As people have said I think your body adjusts and will sort itself out quickly.
    :O)

I think you should see your doctor my friend.
    Check you out.

If you miss your period, you could be exercising too much or not eating enough. Either way, it increases your risk of osteoporosis later in life, so be careful. I'd recommend upping the calories a bit more just to prevent amenorrhea (loss of menstrual cycle) so that you are at less risk later in life. Yes, you may lose weight slower, but honestly, you didn't put it on overnight so you can't expect to take it off overnight either. :hugs:

This same thing happened to a friend and her dr said that was normal because of the exercise. Also not to be too concerned if you skip it all together. I wouldnt worry.
