'don't-count' treats...
does anyone else do this? I don't eat back excercise calories but if I burn over 500 I let myself have one 'it doesn't have to go in the log' treat, like a cookie or an extra glass of wine or something because I know my defecit is still there. Kinda cheating without cheating. Anyway it kinda works as an incentive for me to…

Gym Etiquette breaches....
What really gets you annoyed in your workout time? Part of me likes getting grumpy at the gym coz it fuels a better workout haha. These are guaranteed to irritate me. - people who use the circuit machines for long bursts of cardio when there are people doing circuits and cardio machines available off-circuit - people who…

those moments where you can't see it...
where you know you've lost weight, your clothes are smaller etc.... but you look in the mirror and you don't see it. some days i feel so on top and some i feel totally despondent. today was one of those down days, so i went shopping and by the time you try on a million things in a size that you forgot you can fit now you…

hypothyroid = can't lose, right?
Wrong. I just want to remind all the hypothryoid patients out there that having a crappy thyroid doesn't condemn you to a life of not being able to control your weight. I was diagnosed in 2007 and i've lost weight twice (including this time) since then. last time i lost about 25 kg, so far this time i've lost 15 and guess…

Diet Tall Poppy Syndrome

How much do sodium/sugar really affect your progress?
I fluctuate with these two macros - up some days, down some. If i'm drinking water, and meeting my calorie and fat macros, how bad is it if i'm not always under for sodium and sugar. EVERYTHING contains one or the other....

SO confused
The more I read on here, the more confused I feel... So if people wouldn't mind answering some questions, that would be great :) Thanks. 1) I'm down 13kg in 90 days and I feel like my progress is slow. Am I just being silly? 2) I haven't changed my diet, but I have changed my thyroid meds. Is this why my digestion has…

Being your own harshest critic...
So I'm struggling a little with this at the moment... When it comes to excercise, pushing myself comes easy to me. Once I'm in the zone, it's great. Can burn 1000+ calories easy and feel good doing it. When I'm my own personal trainer, I rock it. The problem is that I'm just as hard on myself with the calorie numbers.…

when bits that looked more toned yesterday...
...look kinda jelly-y today... why is that?

NET your BMR vs EAT your BMR...
...which team are you? Why? I EAT my BMR as a goal, going a bit over, but I don't worry about NETTING it because sometimes my workouts are nearly *AT* my BMR and that's just crazy, eating double BMR. I will go over by up to 200 calories if I've burned over 1000 and I'm hungry though. I have a thyroid condition but am still…

healthIER vs healthY lifestyles
Sometimes I feel like this place (MFP) is full of people who take it too seriously. They're entitled to, but the posts making people feel bad because they enjoy food that is designed for enjoyment rather than expressly for nutrition irritate me. Comments like 'if you really cared about your body you wouldn't' and 'Well…

Cutting my (nearly) daily glass or two of wine out....
... just because I'm curious to see what happens. So far all that has happened is I ate more, and didn't drink wine

NSV's, SV's and OMG's all day...
1) The goal jeans I was so delighted to get back into...I reckon in a couple months theyll be too big, coz theyy aren't as tight as they should be  2) a woman i've known for a couple years ( a parent of one of my netballers) introduced herself to me today and then when i said my name and laughed at her was like 'oh…

total body workouts...whats your allover excercise hit?
I find that I get the best all round workouts from the following: -netball -cardio/weights gym circuits -swimming I like to mix it up with working out though, so what else gives you massive bang for your buck?

Needing motivation?

What makes you beautiful?
What do people always comment about to do with a) your appearance and b) your personality. You may or may not agree, but what is said about you the most? for me: Appearance - I get complimented on my hair, my eyes, my eyelashes, my long legs and my smile (i hate my smile but there must be something in it lol) Personality -…

What did you do to break a negative thought today?
I'm finding that often if you get into a negative, you can break it by creating a positive. This morning, I weighed in and I'd gained from a loss late last week back to where I was on Thurs. I was totally bemused, then put on outfit from my MUCH smaller new work wardrobe (thats what I wore today in the pic), realised it…

I'm meant to be struggling with this...
... I'm meant to be finding this hard. why else would I have never done it this way before? 2008 Dropped from 112 kg to 88kg, took me 18 months of slogging it out in the gym and trying to eat well. 2013 - in 71 days I've dropped 12 kg, I eat what I want (within cals), I've barely been in the gym, mostly using the…

When did subway...

lowering cals as you lose weight?
how often should i be adjusting calories down? I'm losing 1kg ish a week. I was thinking get down to the next 1kg off which is the 10kg lost mark and then dial it down a little? My BMR is getting lower so should probably be dropping my cals? Happy with it at the moment but not sure if I need to adjust down with every kg or…

unexpected NSV
people at work are starting to join MFP simply because they want the results I'm getting :) Theres seriously no better motivator than people coming to you and saying 'you said you're on some kind of app and thats helping you get healthy. you look amazing, hook me up' :D
