Can you explain what is going on with strength training?
So if muscles can't be built while eating at a deficit why should we do strength training while trying to lose fat/weight? What's going on when we do strength training while eating at a deficit vs eating to maintain or when eating extra? I know when we do cardio with a deficit we burn energy that the body will be pulling…

another returnee
Almost 2 years ago I lost 10-15 lbs on this. Instead of switching to maintain I stopped and slowly lost progress. I figured if I exercise more without logging I could lose it but no. Logging is easy except I get stressed about dinners. I'm sure I can do it again. I just can't let dinner beat me. I have no idea what was in…

Bored with lunch
Last time I did this I kept to pretty simple and predictable lunches. Primarily canned soup, apple and oatmeal, occasionally a salad, subway sandwich. I work full time and I constantly forget my lunch at home on the counter (maybe would remember it once or twice a week). It goes much better if i can leave a stock of…

Restart
I'm determined to be back. I took a 7 month hiatus and gained everything back. Thanksgiving certainly didn't help. I'm a 30 and mother of a 2 year old. I've got a couple reasons for coming back. Most importantly my husband is more open to start trying for our second baby. I dont want to start my gain from this point. My…

Help, ill and no appetite.
I started a week ago. Had some miscalulations with my activity level and was eating at/below my BMR (1437 cal, age 29, 143 lb, 5'3). I havent lost any weight this week. I was eating back my exercise calories and my net was still around 1400. Adding to that I seem to have caught the stomach bug thats been going around. Now…

Yoga for strength
Is doing yoga enough as far as "strength training" goes? I really hate lifting weights and i dont have access to a gym. It's boring for me and if it's boring i wont stick with it long enough to get any benefit. I primarily walk or go on the elliptical for exercise since it burns more calories.

1200 is it ever ok
I see a lot of people trying to eat to or under 1200 calories. Isn't that under most people's BMR? Wouldn’t that be slowing down their metabolism, causing plateaus ect? If it is under MFP's calculated BMR then why does it allow people to set that as a goal? Some friends don’t share their diaries or their goal is that low.…

Doing it wrong?
I researched BMR and TDEE and acording to various calculators it looks like my Net calories in have been about the same as my BMR. I've been eating my exercise calories. I've stressed out over how much dinner will cost so i have been exercising every day. The weight i have maintained is not far off my goal weight. I…

Yoga
I've been putting off doing yoga since it doesn't seem to give as many calories per time as time on the elliptical. The yoga i do tends to be faster than many videos. When i go to the class it's a heated room and tends to be fast too and we sweat a lot. Is there another way of calculating how much calories you burn than…

Hello, I started with my fitnesspal today. It seems like a better app than others and easily finds my foods. I've tried diets like the "game on diet" and weight watchers. I find i go crazy thinking about food when i do and it doesnt last or i cant keep it up. I really hate having life centered around food and I want to eat…
