Whine-thumb broken
Can I whine? I fell on the slick tile in the bathroom the other day and broke my thumb. I also tore a tendon. This is so inconvenient! I'm moving in two weeks and can do nothing without my thumb! I also can't swim and had just started resistance bands. Okay. Done whining.

Zuchinni berry smoothie!
I have a surplus of zuchinni right now and didn't feel like making pickles. If I used it all to make bread, it will be about 8-10 loaves! Besides, we all watch our carbs. I decided to make a zuchinni smoothie to see what it was like. I was excited to discover that a cup of zuchinni made my smoothie thicker, creamier and…

Agar agar?
I've heard that agar agar is a popular diet in Asia. I have some in my pantry because I wanted to try adding it to frozen yogurt and sorbets to improve the texture and prevent the frozen solid brick that I normally get. I haven't gotten around to trying it,yet. I'd be interested in trying it as a supplement if I knew it…

So, I'd really like to start lifting. But, all the programs that I've looked at put great importance on squats and lunges. I have really bad knees. What to do if kale is bitter?
I have a whole bunch of kale in our shady garden, which decided to come up as volunteers. The only reason that I can figure that it keeps trying to grow each summer is that is when our irrigation is every other week. So, winter is probably too dry for it to get a start. Anyway, it's been 110 but the kale looks wonderful. I…

Met first GW, 10 pounds lost!
I didn't log my starting weight because it was just too awful to face. I was 158 at my highest, about 6 weeks ago. I'm now at 148.6! New goals are at 5 lb intervals, for a total of 53 pounds. I may change my final goal if I find it unsustainable to be below 115. I was 105 when I joined the Air Force in 1989 at the age of…

Anybody row?
Just wondering if anybody does rowing for their cardio? It seems to almost be a core and upper body strengthener, in addition to cardio. Burns a lot of calories. Help lighten zuchinni muffins!
I'm trying to creat a low calorie, lower fat zuchinni muffin. I tried 3 cups zuchinni, 1 cup ff Greek yogurt, 1.5 cups whole wheat flour, 1.5 cups oatmeal, 1 tsp baking soda and baking powder, stevia extract and 1/2 tsp salt, 2 eggs. Texture is too dense, needs more sweetness, and it's too salty. Next I will probably try…

Mint Chocolate chip yogurt pops
Has anybody tried the Yasso mint chocolate chip yogurt pops? Omg! They remind me of Baskin Robbins ice cream! I used to love that flavor and it literally made me fat as a grade schooler. The yogurt is only 80 calories and so yummy. I need to get some mint extract and try making these at home.

How do you figure out calories?
I love to make various soups, chile and casseroles. I don't really use recipes but I'm a good cook. The only way I can figure out how to count calories is to weigh and measure every ingredient, cook the dish and then weigh the total. Divide by however many servings that I think is right. There just has to be a better way,…

Sodium?
Do moat people measure the sodium if seasoning your food? I guess I should try weighing a pinch of salt and start including it in my intake to see how much sodium I'm really eating? Anyone on Coumadin?
I just started coumadin two weeks ago for a clotting and bone disease. There are so many delicious veggies that are high in vitamin K. Getting to the gym
I'm having a hard time getting myself to the gym each day. I'm not working and if I don't have another reason to leave the house I just don't go. If I'm doing errands or have a doctor's appointment I like to swing by on my way home. My gym is 4.5 miles away so it's not like its a terrible drive. Any ideas?
