Belly fat foods - what's the REAL scoop?
I know there's a lot out there on belly fat just now and some of it is just selling products or books but what are the mfp communities thoughts on losing belly fat? I know I have to lose the fat before the crunches will even show! And I know you can't target areas. So is there any truth to belly fat foods or belly fat…

exercise
I am struggling to keep motivated to keep active. My body isn't as young as it used to be so I am not as capable as I used to be. I can't do these high intensity aerobic workouts like I could have 20 years ago. I'm not a big fan of aerobics anyway. I also have peripheral neuropathy which makes walking distances a…

Goals
Ok grandparents. Let's talk a bit about goals. I am not so strong here so your advice is needed. I set up mfp to lose a pound a week and I put that I am pretty sedentary with a 30 minute workout 3 times a week ( I guess THAT'S a goal) and so my calorie count is only 1200! Good heavens! What did I do wrong. My first goal…

Anybody juicing?
I just watched the documentary "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead". The long term juicing success was inspiring so I got out my Champion Juicer (yes I have a Champion juicer and I wasn't using it!) and have begun to juice and eat more raw fruits and vegetables. Finally, some weight is coming off! I look forward to feeling better,…

gluten free cooking
My daughter has recently discovered that she is gluten intolerant. We wish we had known this years ago, we could have avoided a lot of health issues and she would have felt a LOT better. I went on a gluten free baking frenzy today and it was so fun! Everything I made was fantastic and I wonder is there a group for gluten…

cooking gluten free
My daughter is coming to visit this week with my one and only grandson. It will be a week in heaven. I can cuddle him and comfort him and clean him up when he needs it. I don't think I'll be doing much along the way of house work, or cooking! So today I went on a gluten free frenzy because my daughter is gluten intolerant.…

Started a group
I just started a Grandparents group in hopes of finding other grandparents who want to get and stay fit for their little ones. I didn't know anyone on MFP who was a grandparent so I am hoping people will find me and join.

30 minute stretch routine
Does anyone have any idea how many calories you burn stretching? I do an excellent 30 program and I have great flexibility and range of motion but I have no idea what number to use if I want to add it to my exercises.

Peripheral Neuropathy
I'm wondering if anyone has this condition and has any encouragement about exercising with it. I am not a diabetic but I have neuropathy none the less. Lately it seems to flare up a lot more so that my feet hurt while I'm laying down or sitting and so much more when I try to use the treadmill or walk. I need to get back to…

Body fat
My scale tells me I am 35% body fat which seems astronomical to me! I am 5'6" and I weight (as of moments ago!) 148.2 pounds. How else do you calculate body fat? What should it be? And how do I get it where it should be?

turbo/insanity/or what? for my age
I'm 48 this month and while that's not dead it's slower than I used to be =}. I think I would like to try turbo or something like it but then I'm wondering if I'm just dreaming about keeping up and really being able to do it. On the Turbo Fire video all the women are in their 20"s or early 30"s max. Not a grey hair among…

cardio vs weight training
I have been doing both cardio and weight training for about 9 weeks now and I'm reading that weight training is so much better and burns more calories for days after your work out that I'm wondering if cardio is that important. sure it's good for your heart but weight training is a work out too.

I'm still hungry!
I'm sorry I know this topic has been addressed probably a million times but I'll ask again. Why am I so hungry? I eat all my calories in fact I have been going over here and there the last few weeks and yet I'm still hungry. I exercise at least an hour each day (and love it) and I eat very well (no processed foods or…

HIIT calories burned for me
My High Intensity Interval Training is probably laughable but it's giving me energy and it's a start. I wonder if anyone could help me calculate my calories lost. I think I'm supposed to use my heart rate but I don't know how to calculate anything from that. I tried searching the internet but the numbers are all over the…

up my cardio?
I'm pretty new at everything...right now I do the cardio from Body For Life which is only 20 minutes on the treadmill. There are 4 cycles where you do a brisk walk for 4 minutes and then bump it to a jog for a minute and repeat with the last cycle pushing it hard for that last minute. I don't measure my heart rate and I…

gaining muscle
I've been doing Body for Life for 4 weeks now, watching my diet and yet I am not losing any weight. I have only take one set of measurements last week so I can't tell if I'm losing inches but my clothes also feel no different. I am wondering how quickly you actually begin building muscle and if that would interfere with…

discouraged
I'm been doing Body for Life now for 3 weeks and I've lost nothing. I am eating great and cutting back on all the little things that mess with progress. I feel better but my weight's not budging. What's up?!

I'm new at this!
I just logged in yesterday. I've never done anything like this website OR serious weight loss. I was always thin growing up and only gained weight over the years having 3 children. I'm 47 and I'd love encouragement from women near my age. I would like to lose close to 20 lbs. I don't know if that sounds like a lot of a…
