Finally some movement
The scales have finally started moving over the last few days and all I can attribute it to is that I got a heck of a lot more exercise than usual. Diet I kept fairly on track, snuck in a few things, but stayed under my goals. Keeping up with an 8 year old boy involves a lot of exercise. My daughter and son-in-law also…

Dumping
When you eat something that for any reason comes back up how do you note that in the MFP Food Diary? I had 6 oz. tilapia tonight and it came up after 1/2 hour or so. I think I ate too much, too fast. I went back to my food diary and adjusted the fish to 50% of what it previously was recorded as. Was this how you should do…

Off to Napervil, IL
Getting ready to head out the door to spend a few days with my daughter and family. My 8 year old grandson doesn't know that I'm coming and will be surprised when I pick him up from school. Can't wait!!!! This will really be a true test to see how I do when traveling/visiting as I won't have my elliptical, exercise ball.…

Averaging out calories/protein
As I keep getting surprised at my inconsistency is averaging out my calories and protein during the day, as of tomorrow I'm going to start planning each meal/snack accordingly. My goal is to have around the same amount of protein/calories for meals and a lesser amount for snacks. NOW, ALL I HAVE TO DO IS STICK TO IT. It…

Strength Training
Can anyone tell me why there is no column for 'calories burned' under Strength Training. We must be burning calories while we are doing these exercises. Everyone have a great weekend and thank you. Karen

Protein, Fiber Breakfast Bars
I'm 6 weeks out and looking through all my information today I did not see when I can begin eating Breakfast bars again (i.e., protein, fiber, etc.). Does anyone have this information? If so, what brands do you use? Thank you in advance for your guidance.

Pictures
I'm going to attempt to find a couple of pictures pre-surgery to post on MFP. The problem is I haven't had many taken of myself alone, without grandson or great-nieces/nephews blocking/surrounding me. I would like to find a picture of how I looked most of my life, one of me at my highest weight earlier this year, then…

Scale Bought
Finally found and bought a scale today so I can record my weight on a weekly basis and not just keep going by the fit of my clothes. Got some compliments today from individuals who noticed that I've lost weight - said they were starting to see signs of my old self, particularly face and hands.

Anyone from Lansing, MI & surrounding areas?
I'm looking for friends from Lansing and the surrounding areas: Charlotte, Mason, St Johns, Battle Creek, Grand Ledge, etc. We more than likely went through this procedure by the same Weight Management team. I think being friends would benefit us all as we all dealt or are dealing with the same staff. Looking forward to…

4-Week Post-Op Dr. Appointment
Since I have not bought a scale yet, I was surprised to learn that I was doing very well at this point. I knew I had lost some weight, but had not idea how much. My clothes were just looser. I don't want to become obsessed with weighing myself, but I think I can do it once a week now. My NUT says I should stay on pureed…

Not Easy - A Learning Experience
Just got home from spending a 4-day weekend with my daughter and family - it's out-of-state (Michigan to Illinois). I tried very hard to get in my 5/6 small meals a day, but wasn't entirely successful. The first obstacle was the 4-hour drive. The weather turned warm (mid-40's) in Naperville and we were on the go all day…

Change of Taste
Pre-surgery (my whole life) I was a huge water drinker - most of the time averaging 8 - 10 glasses a day and more in the summer. Post-surgery the water just does not taste good at all and it is a struggle for me to drink it. I started buying it but it hasn't made any difference. I've tried flavored water and that's not…

Health Update
Did end up having to go to ER for several hours and just got home. Put my on IV to help with hydration, x-rays, oxygen, RX's that I know work. I did have a shot and prescription for "Steroids". I again questioned this possibility with my post-op surgical appointment 2/20 and the response was "no steroids no matter what my…

Lung Problems
My sinus infections turned into upper respiratory infections a few years ago, and now those have turned straight into pneumonia the last couple of times. Two years ago I had a pseudomonous infection that required hospitalization for a week and 28 outpatient infusions over a 14-day period (one in the a.m. and one in the…

Sleeved 2/5/14 and Looking for Supportive Friends
I was just sleeved on 2/4/15 and have my post-surgery follow-up this Thursday. Reading some of the posts from this group, I have seen a tremendous amount of support for each other and a lot of answers to questions I never even imagined. The Drs. can only tell you so much and those have been through the surgery can offer…

Didn't Exercise
I was so tired from the week that for the first time since coming home from the hospital, I didn't exercise. However, I did have both boys (3 and 5) for the day and took them to the Bounce House at the Mall. Wasn't open yet, so we went to get their parents some Valentine gifts then we walked around for a while until it…

Post-Op Class Today
I have my Post-Op Class later today and hope to pick up some tips on how to ensure that I get all the nutrients/vitamins I need. I have no problem with getting enough Protein - usually get more than recommended. I have found out that milk can be a snack or meal. Just want to ensure I am doing all I can to get the results…

Problem or Not
I noticed a lump (hard and circular) under one of my incisions that had the largest bruise last night. This particular site has been the most tender since my surgery. Going to call Dr. and ask to have checked out. I did have weekly post-op appointments set up for the next 4 weeks, but yesterday received a call that they…

5th Day Post-Op
On my 5th day post-op and have been surprised to discover that I have absolutely no appetite or thirst. To address this issue I have set my alarm to go off every 2 1/2 hours to remind me to eat at least 2 ounces of something. I do start the mornings off with a couple ounces of 1% Milk and mix up a shake with fiber to…

The Countdown Begins - 22 hours and counting
Surgery is tomorrow morning and the nerves are starting up a little bit. Not so worried about the actual surgery (as I will be out), more worried about how much pain you may be in after and how you actually feel the first few weeks post-surgery. I have been told the recovery time is minimal with only a few restrictions as…

Surgery Feb. 2nd - getting a little nervous
At my 7 day weigh-in I lost have lost a total of 12 pounds - 6 in the past 3 days. This was only accomplished to decreasing to 2 New Directions shakes with Fiber per day. A different nurse today told me to up my intake to 3 products/day and noted that to the dietitian who decreased my intake earlier in the week. That is…

Frustrated over Pre-Op 10 lb. weigh loss in 7 days
I began using New Directions products on 1/23/14 and when weighed in on 1/28/14 had lost 4.36 pounds. I thought this was good, SWLM did not. ( I had been on products for 4 days). I also began exercising on my elliptical stepper cross trainer bike with moveable arms for an all over workout. I average 40 minutes per day…
