NSV: I've transformed into a runner
I started running in January, and it took me 20+ minutes to run/walk a mile. I stuck with it and now this is what my last week looked like: Monday: Ran 2 miles (18 min) Tuesday: Ran 3 miles (35 min) Wednesday: Off Thursday: Ran 3 miles (32 min) Friday: Ran 1 mile (13 min) Saturday: Ran 3 miles (31 min) I'm not the fastest,…

Knee pain
I'm training for a 5K (3 weeks away). I've been running since January. I was running 2 or 2.5 miles about 3 times per week until yesterday when I did my first 3 mile run. My knee usually starts hurting around the 2nd mile, but I run through it. Then I ice it and rest a day before running again. I tried running again today…

Where should you feel squats?
I'm trying to figure out if I have the right squat technique. I put my feet shoulder width apart and sit down like I'm sitting in a chair, and then stand. I feel the burn on the front of my thighs, but shouldn't I feel it in my glutes?

Has anyone done the Electric Run?
I'm sure there are varying opinions on the merits of "fun runs" and whether they're worth doing at all, but I think they're a great way for newbies like me to get into running. Has anyone done the Electric Run 5k? How did you like it? I'm worried it would be too overstimulating, especially if strobe lights are involved...…

Do I really want this?
One of the best things about tracking calories is that it makes me think whether I really want something. I just started eating a cookie, decided the cookie wasn't all that impressive, and tossed the rest. In the past, I would have just eaten it for the sake of eating it. Now I think about whether I really want those…

Any benefits to salt?
I'm a salt fiend. I put loads of salt on just about everything. I'm trying to cut back now by cutting it out completely for a few days (not including sodium in food, just salt as a topping), and I'm wondering whether there are any benefits to salt. I do have pretty low blood pressure; I heard once that maybe that's why I…

I want to snack!
I always want to snack on my work from home days! I don't do this in the office. I guess it's just because I'm sitting next to the kitchen. Arghh.. so far, no snacking.. but I want to.

Difference when I eat protein
I'm new to learning about nutrition, so forgive me if this is common knowledge... Yesterday, I ate a salad for lunch with no protein in it, and by 4:00, I was so uncomfortably hungry. I hadn't been that hungry in a looong time. This was the first time in 6 weeks that I hadn't eaten protein for lunch. Is it safe to say that…

Saw 130's for the first time since 2009 today!
I weighed in at 139.8 this morning. I'm finally back into the 130's (just barely!) for the first time since early college. Woo hoo! MFP is the first time I ever found a system that really works.

Water counter
I hadn't thought of this before... I always drink water out of a 16 oz glass but I've been counting it as 1 glass. Should it be counted as 2?

Help with leg lifts
Hello! I'd like to be able to do leg lifts but I'm having trouble with them because of lower back pain. How would you do a modified leg lift? Or should I power through it until I get good at it? By leg lift, I mean this (hopefully the link works): http://angelsstyle.tumblr.com/post/65235802007/leg-lifts Edit: I don't think…

Anyone know of any good fitness blogs?
I like reading articles and blog posts about fitness, but I don't really know where to find good ones. I'm interested in finding a site that promotes healthy habits in general - not interested in a "this is my personal story" blog. I like articles that apply to a wider audience. Anyone know of a good site?

Frustrated with fruit counts
I'm so frustrated that if I eat a banana and 2 mandarin oranges throughout a day, I'm over on my sugar count. Is that too much fruit to eat? Can you ignore the sugar count because it's "good" sugar? I love fruit (and vegetables) and I don't want to feel guilty for eating it.

Lactose Intolerant - Should I take calcium pills?
I'm very lactose intolerant. I don't eat milk, cheese, yogurt, etc. Should I take calcium supplements or is there a lactose-free food I can get calcium from? I'd prefer not to take pills.

What's a realistic goal? 5'6 woman
I started at 145 about 3 weeks ago, and I'm down to 142. What's a good goal weight for a 5'6 woman? I'm thinking 135? I'm relatively happy with my body, but it could definitely be better.

What to do about cravings?
What causes cravings and what should I do about it? My cravings are ALWAYS for chocolate. Indulging in it just makes me feel like a failure.

How to be healthy during Super Bowl party
I love, love, love eating at parties. I love trying everything available on the table, and I would feel really down if I were snacking on celery while everyone else had buffalo dip. I'm trying to lose about 5 - 10 pounds and I'm only three weeks into my healthy lifestyle changes.. It's been going well so far, but how do…
