What to do about cravings?

What causes cravings and what should I do about it? My cravings are ALWAYS for chocolate. Indulging in it just makes me feel like a failure.

Cravings usually come from our brain. Many of us have used food to make ourselves feel better, which is why we're here trying to lose. You can try distracting yourself when the craving hits.. go for a walk, vacuum, anything that keeps you busy.

Or try changing your approach entirely by accepting that no foods are off limits. You can have anything you'd like as long as it fits into your calorie goals. Have a single piece of dark chocolate or a couple of Hershey's kisses every day if you want.

We always crave what we can't have. Accepting that you CAN have chocolate in a healthy way should decrease your cravings for it.

    I indulge.

Chocolate? I don't REALLY like a lot of dark chocolate, so I have a bag of the Dove dark chocolate in the freezer. I can take out ONE and let it melt in my mouth.

Cookies? Nope, I can not have them in the house. I can buy ONE though and it satisfies me.

Pizza? I can eat one slice and be done.

Ice cream? I can now buy a pint and it will last me a week. (But I haven't bought one in a long time!!) I'd rather get a scoop or stop at one of those frozen yogurt places and get a little bit. I also like those sugar free fat free fudgesicles. One of those at 40 calories hits me JUST right. :) (Chocolate AND ice cream!!)

I forgot to add that if I don't indulge in a craving... it is all I can think of. Kind of like if you tell yourself NOT to think of pink elephants... it seems like you can't NOT think about them. (Double negative -- you'll think of them.) :)

I don't really get cravings often. But when I do feel like eating something sweet then I just do and fit it into my calories!
