How much do you trust posted calorie amounts?
In Canada restaurants now legally have to post their calories for dishes but there is no way that each meal is made the same every time is there? How do you handle this? Just enter a buffer?

Creating recipes - am I doing this right?
So I made a pasta dish but it seems suspiciously reasonable calorie wise. I weighed the pasta dry and entered it into my recipe builder, weighed the vegetables and tare in between each type. Enter all vegetable weights. Measure oil. Cook veg and pasta. Weigh everything together at the end and enter the total # of grams as…

How many weeks data till I know my TDEE?
So from what I've read here, the most accurate way to figure out your TDEE is to closely track your intake and activity, trend your weight, and do the math. So since weight loss isn't linear and hormone changes mess with things, how long do I need to track for to get reliable trends?

Best Beachbody for strength
I just signed up for Beachbody on Demand and am excited to get into some of the programs. My husband thinks he would like to try a program but he wants to do body weight exercises that are not cardio based (ie pliometrics or HIIT). We did T25 a while back and he doesn't like the jumping and impact. Any advice for him on…

Tell me about your woosh!
5'9". SW 215, CW 190? GW 145. So ive been seriously tracking since about Dec 10th. I weigh everything. I dont guess even though I can now slice off EXACTLY 30g of cheese and scoop 30g of peanut butter on sight. I did have three days over the holidays where I had to track by sight, and I've had a few days where I've eaten…

Measuring weight loss
Literally i mean. As in, since the scale is more an indicator of trend and not such a great "measurement" per se, im also trying to keep body measurements over time. Here is the problem - there is also a lot of variance in these! Maybe I'm bloated. Maybe the tape ia 1/2 inch off from where I originally measured. I'm trying…

Resting heart rate and fitness
Ok can anyone tell me more about your resting heart rate and how it relates to health or fitness? From what I understand, athletes have low RHR so I presume it's connected with cardio vascular health. I'm curious since, according to my fitbit, my RHR was up for a week in November to 82-86 instead of its current 72-74.

Marital calorie jealousy
I know it's not surprising my husband loses quicker than me. He's 6' and 270 lbs and burns 4000 calories mostly by accident a day so of COURSE he's going to lose quicker and can eat way more. But does anyone else find it difficult to stay to their calorie goal when your mate can eat so much more? Or how do you stay…

Anyone help me guess the calories?
So I'm trying to guess at what the Beef Swarma wrap from my small local shop comes in at calorie wise and my initial estimates vs what MFP says are way way different so I'm hoping to ask you experts to narrow down the gap. It's a huge wrap (like 12" pita stuffed full to like a 4-5 inch diameter) so I was initially guessing…

Minimum weight lifting to avoid muscle loss
Hey all I'm trying to work my way up slowly to a three time per week lifting schedule but out of curiosity, what is the minimum amount of lifting you need to do to prevent muscle loss (or slow it?) while losing weight? Will one hour of intense training a week do it? Do i need at least two sessions?

How long before i should adjust?
Hey all Last week i started in earnest with weighing all the food for me and my husband - I've meal prepped for all the meals with the calories and macros written into the lid so that we hit targets (I'm mostly concerned with protein). Hubby has a lot to lose so has 2 lbs per week as his goal. His calorie goal is 2150 and…

Confused about protein
My hubby has recently decided to join me in weight loss efforts and I'm trying to meal plan for us while hitting macros. The problem is that there's so much conflicting info about how much protein he should be getting. Some sites say .5 grams per lb of lean body mass, some say .8-1 gram. Then other sites say .8-1 gram per…

What's your best 6 mos progress?
Hey everyone! I know there are a lot of amazing success stories that are longer term (good on you for sticking to it!) But right now I'm looking for some short term goal motivation from all of you who are crushing it! So tell me your best progress in 6 mos! Meal planning and macros
I'm heading on vacation next week and my husband and i have viewed to begin a dedicated long term change to our eating habits on return. Since we are busy, i want to meal plan and bulk cook so that it's easy. I plan to weigh everything and label the meal containers with the nutritional info. So I'm trying to wrap my brain…

Ok Keto science buffs....
Riddle me this: My current understanding is... Ketosis is the state in which your body is burning ketones for energy rather than sugar / carbs yes? And after being in Ketosis for a bit, you deplete you glycogen stores from you cells which just leaves ketones from fat for energy yes? And consuming too many carbs will take…

Dirty vs clean Keto
I keep seeng these two designations but dont really know what would constitute 'dirty' keto. If I generally eat healthy nutrient rich foods, but have the odd diet coke or bunless fast foos burger, does that make it dirty keto?

Silly question about net carbs
So I know that net carbs is total carbs minus fibre but is it for total food consumption for the day or each food individually? Like I have had a high fibre day which essentially puts me in a carb deficit? Like minus 2 grams carbs? So can I still eat 20 net grams of carbs today while still in ketosis? And if thats the…

Does weightlifting increase hunger?
Short background - started Keto a few weeks ago and had no problem sticking to my macros and calorie goal. Felt very full. I took a vacation and tried to stay low carb but def didnt stay in Ketosis. Sunday I started again strict and started weightlifting on Monday. Ive only done two workouts (I'm so sore!!! :p ) This is a…

Fat adapted and raising carb targets
Hello So im far off from actually dealing with this issue, but I am curious as to how it works. From what I have been reading, once you are fat adapted you can raise your carb targets, sometimes up to 50 grams, and it wont kick you out of ketosis. But I also read that as your body gets used to using ketones for energy,…

Starting Lego - ideas and direction?
Hello Keto friends! So ive been researching Keto a lot and want to try it for a few months and see how it goes. I have a few questions that I'm hoping you experts could help me with. Obviously the goal is to stay in Ketosis as much as possible. Once you've entered Ketosis, would breaking the 5% carbs one day a week throw…

My percentages are good but I have calories left!
Another newbie question here: My macro % are on point today but ive only eaten 1100 out of 1500 calories. Other than a slight sugar craving, I'm not Really needing anything else. Tips from our vegetarian losers?

Workout routine advice
I'm looking for some fav workout routines that people find they can stick to. Ive joined a local gym and generally in the past have found success doing classes (Zumba, Pilates, Spin) but my new work schedule has me missing most of those. I like following a routine of sorts or having someone else tell me what to do ,…

Activity level and 10000 steps
Hey all, So I did search this already and according to google, if I hit 10000 steps every day it would categorize me as active. Ive recently moved and have no car so this is a new habit for me but it means (according to MFP) I actually would increase my calorie intake to 1500 to lose 2 lbs per week . Does that sound right?…

Easier to lose weight you just gained?
So water weight aside, had anyone ever noticed that your body "lets go" of weight you recently gained a little faster than weight that's been on a long time? Ie: I just moved countries and have been setting up life and ended up gaining like 15 lbs. Now some of our might be a difference between the scales but I'm definitely…

Weight as you age
I've been curious about this for a little while and I wonder what others might say to it. When choosing my goal, I picked the weight I was most comfortable at (10 years ago) and then added 5- 10 lbs because I figured that was more realistic "at my current age". Obviously our bodies do change over time and as we age, plus…
