how does body media determine "target" calories?
My number is 2910 the number of calories body media says I 'should' burn. How do they come up with that number and tell me, does the "actual" number of calories that displays come from the what my arm band says? The "target" number. Since I said I workout up to 6 days a week would I assume that number includes that fact?…

Body media calorie burn estimates
I have a couple questions I am confused about. I understand that I plug in my weight, height, age and how much I workout and all. Once I've done that I get a particular number that comes up that gives me an estimate of how many calories I would approximately burn. Is that number for the day only or is it intended to cover…

When beginning my workout turning on body media
I get that I will be wearing the armband for 23 hours each day. However, upon putting it on my arm do I push the button on the little deal thing to like turn it on or anything. Or would I do it when beginning my workout or is it good to go? I'm thinking I just put it on and it knows what to do. Correct?

another calorie question to you mfp pros
I did the math online to find out how many calories my body needs a day according to height, weight, and age. I think it is my BMR but I get the terminology mixed up at times. Anyhow, according to those numbers I need 2411 to maintain. So please tell me if the following makes sense. I set my calorie intake at 2000 a day…

fitbit flex question
I bought my fitbit tonight and I am completely confused. Would I still wear my HRM while working out or is this enough? Also, I downloaded the app for my phone so do I still need to use the syncing thingy that plugs into my computer or can I pull it out? (not enough ports) Also, does the fitbit count calories during my…

HRM, calories question
I am completely confused which is funny because I have been counting calorie/working out regularly for 3 years next month. Wearing HRM for much of that time until it broke. I went for months without one and just got another one. So here are my concerns. For the first time I wore it for 24 hours. In that 24 hours I burned…

sore body ALL the time? yoga/strength
Here's one for you. I began 2 years ago doing Jillian Michaels, Bob Harper workouts Every so often I'd do p90x dvds. I have gotten quite strong by these. But here is the thing. I didn't lose any weight, only size. Which I came to accept. My workout schedule looked like this; for two years. I would do about an hour of…

why french women don't get fat
I've been reading some books on this lately and it is all so very interesting. I have no particular question, only what do you all think about the idea? I'd like to add my two cents quick. For over a year I have been calorie counting, losing at first, but of course always going back up. Like a yo-yo but I'm not purposely…

So maybe this calorie counting is not for me
It's been one looooooooooong, mind boggling trip!! Two full years ago I weighed 175. Since I normally have always kept semi good physical fitness it wasn't horrible. So I decided I wanted to get below 160. I began my journey of a year long regularly exercising which brought me to only 161. That was last summer. (see, took…

funeral for my scale unless u can suggestion otherwise
I find my scale to be my foe during this weight loss journey. I've been working on the same 10 lbs for over 2 months. The moves in only one direction.....UP. Or, once in a great while it will stay the same. Here's the deal. Last week and this week I've upped my workouts to burning nearly 1000 calories a day. Eating right,…

It will always be a mystery to me
This weight loss journey. I go on vacation for nearly two weeks. Give my calorie counting a break and eat what I want but continue my exercises and maintain my weight. Come home and begin counting and recording again and gain a pound. This weight loss thing sure has a lot of ups and downs. One day you think you have it all…

For fat loss I get quite a bit of calories each day, are those calories allotted to me include the calories I burn during working out? Or do I still eat the allotted…

which scenario do you think this is?
I had hit a plateau several weeks ago. I have about 10-15 lbs left to lose. I wasn't losing at all. I do Jillian Michaels dvds everyday. A normal day would be Ripped in 30 doing 2 levels for a total of about 500 or more calories burned. Then later I hit the treadmill for another 300 calories burned give or take. I wear a…

why can't I lose those last 10 lbs?
This is so very frustrating. I have stayed the same weight for the last 4 weeks almost. I exercise hard 6 days a week. I do strength training, yoga, cardio, and wear a heart rate monitor. On a normal workout day I always burn from 500 to 730 calories. I log everything I eat and always eat back my exercise calories. I still…

Can anyone help with knee pain?
I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post this question on or not. I have been doing serious cardio for well over a year. (on and off my whole life) And since I began the online circuits and Jillian Michaels strength training dvds my knees are absolutely killing me. The pain keeps me up at night sometimes. Is there…

Is there such a thing as 'working out too much?'
Can working out too much affect your weight loss? I know it sounds silly but here's the deal. I workout 4x a week doing vigorous strength training, 3 or more doing over an hour of cardio. I watch my calories like a crazy person and do very well staying between 1200 and 1300. BUT, I am only losing exactly 1 pound every 8…

using up all your calories for the week
This may seem a silly question. I am to take in 1200 calories a day. I usually workout a lot burning upwards towards 800-100 calories a day. Some days, like yesterday, I end up working out too much and don't feel like eating back all my calories to level out at 1200 again. That said, if I still had 300 calories remaining…

just how important is it to totally eat back
I am wondering. Even after reading all about it. Is it EXTREMELY important to eat back each and every calorie you burn through exercise? What if I ate back half of what I burned. Would I be short changing my weight loss efforts? I am supposed to eat 1200 a day. Like today I burned 615 in exercise. So really, should I eat a…
