Zoodles!
Has anyone else tried zoodles (zucchini put through a spiralizer)? Omg. I'm loving it! 17 cals per serving instead of -- well, I just hadn't had noodles in over 2 yrs because of the cals and because I'm allergic to wheat.

AnyTips for New Divers?
I am adding diving to my swim. To clarify, I am only diving from the edge of the pool in the deep end. I have been diving in once or twice on each set (4 freestyle, 4 breast, 2 fly). I am not comfortable with either the breathing or the posture. I tend to hold my breath because I am a chicken and I am not very flexible…

c25k!
Hey everyone, today I just finished week two of the C25k program! I honestly didn't think I would be able to do day one of week one, but here it is and I have six workouts finished. I feel so flipping strong. Has anyone else done the program, are you in it now or are you contemplating it? I am using the android c25k app.…

Rest day, C25k and Hip Pain
I am a 50 year old mother of six. I have been walking 4-6 miles per day for the past 6 months and just started the C25k app two weeks ago. I do my 4-6 mile walk on the days when I do not do the C25k. I began having right side hip pain the first day of the second week that I ran and now it feels like my right hip needs a…

Hi New Here
Hello, I am Jan and I am mother to six kids, ages 31, 28, 29, 15, 14 and 10. My 14 year old son has mid-functioning classic autism (can talk, self potty, low educational skills) and my 15 year old is an Aspie with ADHD. I have a LOT to lose in this weight loss battle. I am currently at 273, having started at 287. My…

Doing a VSG reboot
I was in a long stall and then started gaining weight again. So I decided to do a reboot. Since then, and this is my third full day, my weight has started going in the right direction again and my sense of purpose has come back. I have started really focusing on what I am eating and slowing down again at the plate. I have…

Sex after VSG -- way too much info -- be warned.
I am 11 weeks out. I have had sex once time since my surgery. I pretty much had to shame my husband into it. Here is the issue: Since my surgery, I am on sexual simmer. I mean, I am really ready. He is just NOT. I feel so rejected and at the same time, I am still simmering. I know he is fat, tired, hates his job, I am not…

Another great reason for the surgery! They found something.
I had my VSG surgery on February 4th. I found out a couple of days ago that doing the pathology on the removed stomach, they found a tumor. It is called a GIST and was small and benign, but these grow in the wall of the stomach unnoticed and always become malignant. I don't know if there are any more, but they say that…

Doing well almost three weeks post op.
Hi everyone, I wanted to pop in and say that I made it through my VSG surgery very well and am back to normal at 19 days post op. I have been released to swim, so I plan to get in the water today and do a very VERY gentle swim. I did find that my hair really got super since I haven't been in the chlorine, but the water is…

Last Domino
I go to the Nutritionist in an hour for my evaluation for the sleeve. This is the last specialist that I have to see. Then I just have to finish my five month weigh ins and the last one is in the beginning of January. 76 days until my surgery date. I had my psych eval on Monday and passed that. All of the rest of the tests…

Cardiac Condition
I had my EKG and apparently I have a sinus arrhythmia and sinus bradycardia. Does anyone know anything about this or if it will impair my ability to gt the sleeve surgery?

Got my surgery date!
I was surprised and shocked to get a call this morning scheduling my sleeve surgery. It will be February 18th if all goes as planned. I have three more months on the insurance diet left to do. Wow. I am a little rocked here at the news. Next Friday is my Endoscopy.

Titration Sleep Study
You know what? It is empowering to take control of my own health decisions. I had a miserable night at my initial sleep study, because the place was just really bad. Bad beds, no bathroom, short cables for the leads and missing ceiling tiles (which was creepy). When they told me I had to go back for a titration, I nearly…

Carb Addict
Ok, I am a serious carb addict. I am not going to mention the foods, but they are all junk. I can't seem to get through the day without eating something junky and the longer I put it off, the more of it I eat. I am in the first month of my insurance required diet and it's KILLING ME. Maybe I should just quit? Chalk it up…

Some Good News
I had emailed my gastroenterologist. Just saying that I have a gastroenterologist makes me feel old. Anyway, I emailed to ask if the high protein diet after VSG would cause problems with my diverticulitis flares, or rather, would it make me flare more. He wrote back to say that he sees no problem with the high protein…

Need VS FRIENDS
I don't post much in my timeline because I'm afraid of backlash when I come out as getting WLS. I'm just beginning my journey. I have so much to learn. I'd be proud and glad to accept friend requests! Thank you.

Scale Obsession
I am trying to get past my scale obsession. In the past it has been really counter-productive. If it was down, I would be so happy, if it was up, discouraged. I would take great lengths to get a good reading: Always weighing in naked Preferably after a BM First thing in the morning' Before Eat Without my glasses and watch…

Told to get a sleeve
Hi, I am Jan. I went to a GI surgeon today for a consultation on fixing the diverticulitis that has been dogging me for a year. I have been in the ER and hospital three times and another time with a flare that didn't require hospitalization. This surgeon told me that in his opinion, the surgery to remove the colon that has…

Autism Mini Grant for Pool
I applied for an autism mini grant through the State of Pennsylvania. One of the things that I asked for was a membership to the local community pool. I was given a check for $180 toward the membership! That means that along with my morning swim at my usual pool where I don't have privileges for the kids, I will be able to…

Ladies: Grow it or Cut it Off?
Speaking of hair: Working out with long hair can be a pain, all of that showering and sweating. Do you whack off your hair to make life easier when starting a fitness program or do you just soldier through? I am investing in elastics and doing a lot of braids. I can't say what's going to happen when it really gets hot this…

Wii Rock Band?
Do you play Wii or PS Rockband? I love it! I have been rocking out to the Beatles and although I am not a gamer, I am moving up to Medium on the drums, which means some serious coordination is developing. I have been playing so much that my inner thighs were burning last night from the pedal. What are you favorite songs,…

I'm doing it wrong!
I just realized that my awesome breast stroke is wrong. I am moving my legs too soon. I am not sure how to correct my stroke or even if I have to. Right now my breast stroke looks more like a yogo-esque jumping jack. It feels really good and I am losing weight and gaining muscle, but it's wrong. What would you do.

Summer Swim Styles - what are you wearing?
I just bought a really nice swim suit recently and thought I would ask what everyone is wearing in the pool. I like the way this one fits, but I am not thrilled with the back straps, I wish I had ones that hooked. But hey! it's two sizes smaller than my last one! By the way -- this is not me, LOL! to post an image: 1.…

NSVs? (Non-Scale Victories)
I still have a LONG way to go and since I carry all of my weight in my torso, weight loss is slow to show up, but I am seeing it gradually. Here are my NSVs: ~ Now that I am getting a waist, my boobs look MUCH better. ~ I thought I was in menopause, but losing weight has caused that TOM to come back. Whoo HOO! Fountain of…

Does Nexium Cause Diverticulitis?
I suffer from diverticulitis. I just found out that taking Nexium or other proton pump inhibitors may cause this condition. I wanted to know if any fellow sufferers were on nexium, perhaps longterm, before onset of symptoms. Thanks.
