vanity sizing
So I just bought a pair of Old Navy shorts... size 2! I am not a size 2. Never have been. I pulled out an old pair of Old Navy shorts, size 4 and compared. The size 4 is actually a tiny bit smaller than the 2. I’m not sure how I feel. I know they say go by how your clothes fit, not the number on the scale, but I feel like…

Hydrating during long runs?
I've finally decided to start half marathon training. I'm not a newbie runner, so I'm following the BAA half marathon plan. The first week has my long run at 7 miles which I completed this morning. My last mile I struggled. I've run longer miles (an 8 miler and a 10 miler) without feeling like I needed anything, but today…

Reasons for High blood pressure
I'm almost 39, normal weight, and active (workout regularly, mostly running) Today I had a physical done and my blood pressure was high 144/88. This is unusual for me. I had a bout of high blood pressure/preeclampsia with my first baby 8 years ago, but my blood pressure has been normal since (at least any time it's been…

Hip pain from running
So I've been running regularly for the past 2.5 years and it's been going great... Except in the last few months I've been experiencing pain in my left hip. It feels like it's inside my hip so it's not bursitis or IT band (my knee does not hurt). I'm not sure what else it could be. Google search says possibly a stress…

Running and foot ailments...
Corns, calluses, lost toenails... Are these things you live with or do you keep trying out different running shoes and/or socks so it doesn't happen? I've been logging longer runs/distances and I feel like my feet are suffering :( I'm going to try out different socks to see if it helps, but I'll be bummed if I have to…

Ate 3,300 calories yesterday
So that happened. The thing is it wasn't an overly crazy day, just bad food choices which I willingly made. So I ate: 2 T creamer in my coffee 6 chicken nuggets and a large fry from Burger King 1 full order of Bar Wings and Yukon chips from Red Robin (appetizer) 3 servings of Haribo gummies 2 servings of Snyder of Hanover…

I'm done with jawbone!
My husband bought me the up3 back in July - it broke in August, I contacted them and they sent me a new one. Now 2 months later it's broken again. Same issue as before. I contacted them, but I doubt they will refund my money, but I'm switching to fitbit or something else. I would be their number 1 fan if they could build a…

Charge HR and running...
I just got a Charge HR and I'm wondering how accurate it is while running. I ran 3.5 miles on the treadmill this morning - took me 30 minutes. It logged around 4,800 steps... does that seem right? It seems kind of low. It also only gave me 200 calories burned - now that seems very low to me. I know I am a smaller person,…

Up3 lost steps?
Has anyone noticed that their steps from today and yesterday are suddenly gone/drastically reduced? I've tried re-pairing and re-syncing the data, but there seems to be big blocks of steps missing from my 2 activities (that were there a few hours ago!).

Up3 won't charge or reset
It has 2 days left and I can't get it to charge. Everything I've read says to try a soft reset, but it won't even do that as no lights ever come on. If I tap it the runner light comes on and I can switch to sleep mode. I'm so frustrated with it!

JJ Watt eats up to 9K a day!
Since I'm a football fan, I found this article interesting. I can't imagine working out so hard that I'd have to eat that much just to maintain my weight. It said it would take about 50 slices of bacon, 20 chicken breasts and 13 whole avocados to hit 9,000 calories - lol…

Up3 - calibrating?
Hello! I just got the Up3 this past weekend. I was excited to transfer everything from my old (original) band to this new one. I am wondering if there is a way to calibrate the new one like I did with my old one. I am noticing that this band does not register as many steps when I run. This morning I ran 3.5 miles and it…

Question about ketosis... does it really help you burn fat faster than CICO?
I have a friend who insists that she will burn more fat if she goes into ketosis vs. just eating at a deficit. Is this true? It's not something I want to do, I like my carbs too much, but I'm not sure I believe her and I don't want to encourage her to do something that won't work.

Summer CSA recipe ideas...
Did anyone else join a CSA for the summer? I did for the first time, I'm getting 1 micro share per week. It's been pretty cool - I'm certainly eating a lot more veggies than I normally would just so stuff won't go to waste. I've tried swiss chard for the first time ever - yum. I've tried turnips for the first time - yuck!…

Avocado? Is this right?
I bought a normal looking avocado, cut it in half, scooped out all the flesh, and weighed it in grams 167 grams = 267 calories?! I thought that couldn't be right so I checked the USDA site and it matched up. Am I doing something wrong? I always thought avocados were calorie bombs!

Totally bummed...
Went down hard with the stomach bug yesterday... felt terrible and slept most of the day. The worst part is I broke my 102 day MFP streak! :( And broke my streak of taking at least 10K+ steps on my Jawbone, which I've been hitting since Dec 30th of last year :( :( Oh well, must keep going...

Shamrock Victory!
This is my very first thread, but I'm just so proud of myself! I ran in a Shamrock 8K race this past weekend - I finished in 41:25, 790th (out of 8,888 finishers), and 38th in my gender/age group! I've trained for almost a year for this race and I am super excited about my results!
