chocolate vs carob
has anyone tried carob instead of chocolate? I like carob but haven't had it in a long time and I no longer crave or eat chocolate but rarely. I've heard carob is nutritious. To me it has sort of a mocha taste.

Anyone over 60 years old here?
I love younger people but would like to communicate with some people over 60 along with continuing to be pals with the "youngsters"
-
Over 50 year olds
Any of you here? Would like some "senior citizens" for pals.

We older folks over 60
I'm new as of yesterday and will turn 65 on the 28th. Love all the postings at this website, both young and older. Everyone is very nice and helpful. I was just curious to see how many senior citizens there are here.

Just got this note, you should see
A friend just sent me the following warning on Facebook. I know a lot of you use Facebook so here's the note she sent: URGENT: FB changed something again & failed to let us know. Look at your URL address (top box on your screen.) If you see "http" instead of "https" you DO NOT have a secure session & can be HACKED. Go to…

entering "homemade" recipes
Does anyone else have problems entering foods that you make yourself? I have a heck of a time with that. Yes, I'm a little on the lazy side trying to figure out some of what I cook because I don't measure and just "create" most of the foods I make. I've found that eating lean cuisine makes entering quick and easy so…

Posts saved
I just checked the "my topics" in message boards to see a lot of the posts I bumped to save and I'm positive I've had many more than are shown there. Anyone else notice this?

Question for vegetarians
I love veggies and other healthy foods and would like to start eating a more vegetarian type diet. I'd like to know how you get your protein and B12.

bullying
This is about my granddaughter who has been bullied at first year in high school. A girl there had done some poking and commenting at her that was very rude, then it calmed down for a while until a few days ago when this girl slapped my granddaughter in the face several times, stopped for a few seconds to say "does it…

Going to make this effort
I am setting a goal to , once a week, go to the friends section and check to see people's last log in days and check with them to see how they are.

Now I know why
Now I know why I stick to lean cuisine...not always BUT...it's easier to list!!! I cook a lot normally but trying to enter a recipe here flips me out. I wouldn't trust the nutrient amounts or measurements and if I want to add the exact recipe including herbs and spices it just doesn't happen. Sooooooo, my diary isn't going…

Rough time and no appetite today
As some of you probably know, I'm in a slump because of "stuff" in life right now. I'm having a hard time perking up and have lost my appetite today. I'm forcing down a spinach salad right now and I know I need to pull out of this negative state I'm in. I'm trying so hard to stay positive with everything but it 's really…

sweet cravings finally getting a clue
I've always been what I call a "sweet freak" eating way too much sweets. Today at lunch I ate 1/2 apple and decided to dip it in caramel apple dip which I love. Wow!!! My body said "yuck" and I couldn't tolerate the sweetness! Yay!!! I think I've begun to quit the sweet cravings!

Hoolahooping
Does anyone "hoop" here? My daughter and granddaughters do. As a matter of fact my youngest granddaughter is doing it in a talent show soon (she did one last year too) only this time she's going to do it with a lit up hoop.

calculate recipe??
I had a very delicious pasta dish for dinner that my daughter made and want to add it to my food diary but once again I can't edit the amount of items used such as 10 green olives. There's a place for 5 so I would like to make it 10 but can't do it. This is sooooo frustrating. Do I just guess?? That wouldn't seem right at…

just a rant not about dieting
I'm very grouchy this morning and I guess this is a good place to rant. I just can't deal with people who are what I consider passive aggressive with their comments or attitudes or body language. Here's one example for today: I have wonderful housemates who I dearly love, a married couple in their 50's. The male part of…

call from doctor today
I've been going thru a lot of medical stuff since last month for complete physicals (just started getting medicare so can do it now). My doctor's office said he wants to see me about my labs. Has stuff to go over with me. Said especially my vitamin D and insulin levels. Anybody know about those things?

struggles
I read some of the posts where people are struggling with so many things, the major one is their progress and "trying" to eat healthier. I think of you all and wish I could give you all a hug to comfort you. I will give you a little bit of this grandma's point of view. I had open heart surgery and wouldn't have been here…

motivation from others when your feeling blue
Just have to make a statement. When you see others progress and read their successes, don't feel sad or that you aren't doing good, just look at what they've done and know...really know...that you can and will succeed. After all, you came to this site for success and here is where you'll find it. I know I have.

My chicken last night if you want to see how made
I don't have a recipe , I "cook as I go" when I cook but here's what I did. I seasoned the chicken tenders with McCormick steak seasoning that comes in a grinder bottle and cooked the chicken in a frying pan in some olive oil and cooked without lid to lightly brown each side then covered and cooked on simmer for about 1/2…

Is this allowed here?
Are we allowed to say what we do as a job? I'm asking because I see so many posts about clothing and that's what I do for work at home.

Funny what us older people do at times
OMG! I can't find my tennies! Got up at 5:30 AM to go clothes shop with my daughter, was late so was rushing to go meet her, got dressed.........no shoes!!!! They were next to my bed along with my slippers and sandals but disappeared. No time to search so waited till I got home. Still can't find them and I've searched…

exercise list
Is there an exercise "list" here anywhere. I know calories get burned in many ways other than walking, running, lifting but it would be nice to include the many things a lot of us do each day that burn calories. It would be nice to have a list in front of you to pick and choose.

supplements
Is there a place to enter this? Any suggestions? I take Rainbow Light Women's One multivitamin.

Chewing slow
I tend to eat too fast and have been told many times that if you savor each bite and chew slowly you get a fuller feeling faster. This statement is very true. I've learned to slow down and the taste of food is better, I get full before I'm done eating and enjoy my meals more.

Profile and Blog
I just updated my profile a little and don't know what a "blog" is or what to do with it.What is a blog for and what do you put in it?

something sweet without sugars or sweeteners
One of my favorite things is Good Earth original tea that you can get with or without caffeine. It is super yummy and sweet which I think they use cinnamon for the sweetness and cinnamon is good for you. My daughter gets a chocolate bar at trader joes that has no sugar but once again is sweetened with cinnamon.

My statement for today
I see the name of this site "My Fitness Pal" and I love it. "PAL" to me means a friend, and here there are "PALS" being united, hands and hugs across the world. We're all here for the same purpose, so please everybody, keep the positive energy going so no one gets discouraged and so no one avoids this wonderful website.
