Low carb & having a cheat/celebration/treat meal
I'm trying to get my head around this, so those that've read this 100 times before, apologies. And please no low-carb bashers  I'm doing Dukan (high protein, low fat, 0% dairy) so similar, but not the same, as Atkins/Paleo, etc. It's worked well until I had a treat/cheat meal last weekend, where I had carbs (rice…

Advice on low-carb 'ratios' please?
Hi all, I'm doing Dukan (high protein/low carb - Atkins but less emphasis on fat) and I just wondered what would be best to set my intake as, and why. It's currently 65% protein, 25% carb, 15% fat. I've read that below 50g carb is uber-loss, and between 50 and 100g is 'effortless' which range I am in when I'm doing an…

Question on intermittent fasting
There was a very informative TV programme last night, and I know many here are proponents of the IF regime. I'm actually keen to give this a bash. I know I can drink water and tea - I've already had a coffee with a little milk this morning but nothing else - is that it scrapped for the day? It seems that 2 days per week is…

Dropbox
I'm a moron with technology. I have an iPhone and the dropbox app - if I delete the pics on my phone, will I still have them 'out there'? My phone's super-slow and I'm assuming the photos are the reason...

Weird crushes
I posted to my friends on FB last night that while watching the BAFTAs, I have a weird crush on Billy Bob Thornton (and also Michael Douglas and David Walliams). Who're your bizarre crushes?

Low carb & treats (please, no anti-low-carbers)
Fellow low-carbers, I have two questions... 1. What're your favourite treats? I have gone mental on nuts the last few weeks but they're so calorific. 2. If you're going to 'blow it', which I have (on said nuts), does it make a difference if you do so low-carb, i.e. this is less damaging for weight loss/longer…

Can you get almond flour in the UK?
That's it!

Nuts about nuts
I had a mammoth nut-fest at the weekend, making me freak out about my calorie intake for not only the day, but the week. I read a snippet somewhere that it might not be all bad due to how they're digested (I guess in the same way that it seems we 'use' energy processing protein) so thought I'd share. I'm not endorsing…

Ok, it's almost 'bite the bullet' time...(low carbers)
I've been doing Dukan for the last month, and I'm nearly at goal. Loads of people have helped me on this journey so far, and I want to keep up the low-carb thing, though I'm assuming once I hit goal, I'll up this a little. I'm keen to 'progress' to kinda the Paleo thing (though I've no intention of cutting dairy) but in…

Protein powders
I see a lot of people using these - are there any benefits over food-protein? I've no problem getting enough protein, I just wonder whether nutritionally they're any different/better?

Question for low-carbers...
Hi all, I'm doing low carb (Dukan, like Atkins) and I know I'm going out for dinner in a couple of weeks with my friend who's over from Dubai, so it is a treat. And she loves to share a paella, which obviously is not low carb (but IS yummy!). And possibly even pudding. Other than the calories, physiologically what's likely…

Any Scots?
Hi all, I've been off/on here for a wee while (been 'on' the last month or so) and have some great chums on here from all over - would be keen to get some more Scots on board (pardon the pun) though. Brits in general are good too for the availability of supermarkets etc., and all friend requests gratefully received from…

High protein/low carb/fibre count
I know this has been done to death, and I'm not asking for advice on what I should/shouldn't do (I'm doing high protein though as I have a tendency to binge with carbs and I feel much more in control of myself at the moment). Anyway, as I begin to introduce more carbs (this'll be veg, fruit, etc., not pasta/rice) I plan to…

New UK Weightwatchers - ProPoints
Can someone advise me as to what this is all about? I think it's upping protein? I'm curious to know how I would 'work' t he new system, so any advice would be good. The original WW got my weight down and while I'm on here now counting calories, I'd like to bear the new WW in mind, if I can. Think it's still based on…

This 'cheat day' I hear about...
...is it just wishful thinking? Or does it actually give the body a kick up the rear? And if we do have one, how often are we talking? Weekly (oh please, oh please, oh please :flowerforyou: )? Monthly? What're everyone's thoughts on it?

Running and recovery
I did a half marathon on Sunday, and have another one a week on Sunday (i.e. 2 weeks apart). My legs are still a little sore, but certainly better than yesterday. I want to make sure I keep training so I can keep my weight/fitness in check, but don't want to risk injury. I also want a good time on this coming race too.…

Another question...
I have my settings at a hoped loss of 2lbs Per week - I only want to lose a few more so I'm comfortably under my Must Not Go Over weight. It gives me 1200kcals per day, but still works this out that I'll lose 0.5lbs a week. I'm confused, can anyone explain? Thanks again...

Alloted calories...
Shoud I eat them all? Should I eat the ones earned from exercise? Or should I try to be under my allowance? Thanks, Anna.

Hello - I'm kinda new...
I've been on here a wee while but not posted/recorded as I've been writing down manually what I eat/do in terms of Weightwatcher's points, so any guidance, tips, or smiley faces would be much appreciated!
