Question for low-carbers...

Hi all,

I'm doing low carb (Dukan, like Atkins) and I know I'm going out for dinner in a couple of weeks with my friend who's over from Dubai, so it is a treat. And she loves to share a paella, which obviously is not low carb (but IS yummy!). And possibly even pudding. Other than the calories, physiologically what's likely to happen? I assume I'll gain water weight from the glycogen, which I'll flush out again, but is there anything else that I need to know that'll freak me out on the scales or in my body?

Thanks
Anna

if it's only that one meal in like a week or month, nothings gonna happen. i dont eat much carbs either but i usually treat myself with an extremely greasy pizza every month, and it doesn't affect me at all. then again if you plan on eating paella and stuff every day, that might show quite quickly.

We all need that sometimes! My nutritionist calls it a re-feed ;) I re-feed after I weigh in with her, LOL! What I experience is water weight gain, usually 3-6 lbs overnight and it comes back off usually within a few days. Another thing I experience are carb cravings for a day or 2 as my body gets insulin levels back in check. I would definitely expect and prepare for that part!! Make sure you have lots of low carb stuff on hand so it doesn't knkock you off the proverbial wagon ;) ENJOY!
