Unusual request for passing along a request for information
Hey everyone, I would like to preface this by saying I have read the guidelines and I don't believe I am violating any rules, as I am just asking for a page to be shared that has nothing to do with financial requesting, but rather just trying to reach as many people as possible. If I am in violation, please just private…

Question on strength training
So, it took me awhile to find exercise that I enjoyed (zumba!). I've been improving my health and losing weight for almost 2 years now. I am finally trying to start some toning or strengthening, but honestly, it bores me to tears. I was going to try to do it 2-3 times a week, but am making it only once. My question is: am…

Passing Along an Interesting Post - Christmas 2011, The Birt
Just passing along a post as it was passed to me: Christmas 2011 -- The Birth of a New Tradition As the holidays approach, the giant Asian factories are kicking into high gear to provide Americans with monstrous piles of cheaply produced goods -- merchandise that has been produced at the expense of American labor. This…

Big NSV for me! Pics of my climb to the summit
So, I started my journey here in Feb of 2010 and to date have lost 80 lbs (yay me!). I'm working on my last 20 now to reach my goal. Last year in the summer of 2010 I had already lost almost 50 and made it a personal goal to climb to the summit of a mountain known as "flat top" in Anchorage, Alaska (where I spend 8 weeks…

OTR Truck Trivers
I know I've seen a post or two from long haul truckers here. My SO just joined and drives a truck. Was wondering if anyone had some suggestions for healthier eating on the road for him that I can pass along. Maybe healthy snacks and stuff he can keep in the truck. He has a small fridge and will be getting a cooler. Some…

Help Please, repost/update
*warning - this may be long and rambling* I am approaching my one year anniversary here and have been overall happy with my progress. I went into this and am still looking at this as a lifestyle change, not a diet. For the most part, I am not discouraged, but have been finding myself starting to get a little discouraged…

Progress Pics
I've searched how to post pics on the msg boards here, so hope this works ok. First pic is of me at Halloween last year - at my all time heaviest. Second pic is this Oct, almost 60 lbs lost. This site has been great for me and my wonderful mother who is doing this with me - I don't think I could have done this without the…

what would you count this as far as exercise???
Grocery shopping. Ok, seriously, it's grocery shopping, but not your AVERAGE grocery shop. Picture boxing up 25-30 lbs. of groceries (frozen meats, produce, canned goods, etc.) one box at a time, taping the box up, loading at least half of them onto a flat, taping them shut. Repeat. $9000.00 worth. For 6 hours. ??? Not…

Why...and more importantly - how???
I joined this site in late Feb and have been THRILLED with it so far  I am making healthier choices and have dropped almost 30 pounds. I see this as definitely something I can stick with long term. My question - why do we continue to eat things that are so good even beyond when we feel satisfied and full??? I ask…

Food that can help you release water?
So, I ate a very high in sodium meal on Monday and the scale hasn't budged the rest of the week :grumble: Ok, that's not ENTIRELY accurate...it was up almost 4 pounds the next morning, lol. And has been VERY slowly creeping back down to where I was at on Monday's weigh-in. I suspect that I am retaining water and just…

Re-evaluating goals - If all is good, stay the same?
Not sure if my topic title really explains what I'm getting at. Today is the 4th week I have been on MFP. I have lost 18 pounds. I have my goal set to lose 2 pounds a week. I haven't been on any weight loss plan for almost 10 years. But when I did weight loss plans before, I always lose well if I stick to it and the first…

My "too short" jeanss...
So, I have a pair of jeans I was going to donate as they had "shrunk" so much over the past year and a half that the length was just no longer working for me. 11 pounds lighter, my pants have miraculously lengthened - lol. Actually they have a little stretch to them and had been being expanded so much my thighs and my…

What do you put jam/jelly/preserves on?
So raspberry preserves really satisfies my craving for something sweet but I'm looking for some ideas of things I might be able to enjoy it on besides breads as the breads are more cals/carbs than I'd like for a light snack. Am I out of luck or does anyone have suggestions?

Ponderosa Steakhouse Nutritional information
So I was invited to go to dinner tonight to Ponderosa steakhouse and I can't find anything in the database for food there. I've googled and gotten very limited and questionable results. Does anyone know how to go about finding out this information? I want to go and be able to make wise choices. I'm considering the grilled…

Fat and Protein
How bad is it if I'm under or meeting my caloric intake for the day, but my fat and protein are over (in the red) ? Is that just not real healthy, or is it going to hinder weight loss or both?

Weighing in - How often?
So, I did WW years ago and we would weigh in once a week. Is that pretty standard? Or how often does everyone around here weigh in? Does it vary by individual/group? Is it just a matter of personal preference? Just curious. I will probably stick to once a week unless I hear of a reason to change that up.

Another Newbie - also hoping to make friends
And also impressed with the site so far! I like the simplicity and it's been easy to navigate. I've added a signature (hopefully did that right, lol) and need to finish my profile info.
