It's been a long time
Since I've posted here. Still logging, but other activities have me spending time elsewhere. I reached my goal and surpassed it at 10 months out (sept 2015 - sleeved 11/14) and been maintaining. I lost 150lbs with pre-op diet (never liquid only) and post sleeve. Size 24/26 or 2XL/2XL to a 4/6/8/S depending on the brand and…

Nine Month Progress
Hey folks! I haven't been super active in the boards lately, but still plugging away at my logs and trying to touch base and encourage friends when I can! When I first decided to have surgery, I thought my goal size and weight were 14/150. Then I thought perhaps I should be 140, to give me a little more comfort in the…

Menstrual Cycle Question
Thought I'd put the topic plain as day in case the men want to opt out quickly. I know that cycle changes can occur after surgery, but anything I've read is that they come early, the first few months. I'm 6 months out now. Mine came right on schedule, including a week postop until this month. Flow changed, but timely. This…

6 Month Progress Pics
Here they are...my free editing software doesn't let me cover as many months at a time, so here are a couple pics. Sorry if they are huge! I've lost 119 total since I first went to the bariatric seminar and 85 since surgery. Today, I had my blood work done. I have always had good cholesterol until now! June 2014 it was…

Cholesterol
Preop, my cholesterol was about 170. At my six month check, 212. I couldn't believe it. I have never had cholesterol this high. Anyone else see it go up, or have ideas what foods could be causing this? Perhaps since I'm not eating any whole wheat bread, bagels, English muffins? No good grains? I see the NP tomorrow for my…

New BMI Label
I almost missed it, but today, I am officially overweight! Goodbye obesity!!! Never thought before that I'd celebrate, being overweight, but I know y'all get it!!

100 gone!
I had really hoped to meet this milestone by the end of March. However, yesterday my loss total was 98.9. This morning I woke up and made it. I am now 101.1 pounds lighter than when I first went to the group session to learn about surgery. Yesterday I was feeling run down, and upped the water and actually got 8 hours of…

NSV/Milestone
Once I figured this math out, I couldn't wait for it to happen. I've now lost the weight of my kids combined! Actually, today I was 2lbs extra lost, they must have been clothed or lost weight when I first did the math!

Three months and the effects of stress
Last month I lost my job. I'd been under tons of stress going back to even before my surgery. I try hard not to compare my loss to others, but I've seen some folks loose more than me up front. I sat down, looked at my weight charts and realized how much stress likely had to do with it. Early Feb - I knew it was coming. Feb…

Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR)
My former employer offered a variety of health prevention benefits. One was metabolic testing. I took advantage of this on my next to last day of work. I updated my blog with the details (and pics): http://kimegetshealthy.blogspot.com/2015/02/metabolic-testing-and-numerical.html But here are the basics! (note - this is…

Calling all Quest bar fans or nonfans
I've recently tried and been adding quest bars to my diet. Occasionally as a meal on the go, or half a bar as a snack. Late last week, I ended up gaining 3.5 pounds in about 4 days. I hadn't had a BM in a few days, but it just didn't seem right. I'm only 3 months out and otherwise stuck to plan, no cheating. I didn't have…

Stinky Breath!
The last couple days, I feel like my teeth always have a film or feel yucky, and my breath isn't all that nice. I've been drinking more milk, so trying to figure out if this is due to diet, something else I'm doing, or perhaps ketosis? Anyone else experience this?

Two month post op pic

Clothes Shopping
I went shopping yesterday for some new clothes. I knew a few pairs of my jeans were pretty darn roomy. I pulled out a pair of pants I bought (Gap) about seven years ago when I'd lost weight. It was the first time I'd bought a fashionable name brand jean. I'd gained weight and hung onto them. They fit. 2 sizes smaller than…

Side by side photos
Having a hard time seeing a difference, even if I know there is one. Clothes are fitting better or loose. People keep telling me my face is thinner. Even had someone tell me after Christmas Eve service, that although it sounds weird, they could tell my behind was getting smaller after seeing me up front for communion! I'd…

New Recipes
I've been looking for new recipes to try. Made Cauliflower "mac" and Cheese with Ham last night. It was good and has a good protein count! http://kimegetshealthy.blogspot.com/2014/12/recipe-cauliflower-and-cheese-with-ham.html I was looking at about 100 calories and 11g of protein! Tonight it was ricotta and spinach topped…

Banana Ice Cream
Had some banana ice cream tonight with my kids. At least that's what we call it! I have a Yonanas machine. Push a frozen banana through a special blender and bam...soft serve banana ice cream. My adult nephew is visiting and couldn't believe it was just bananas. I used about 1/2T of PB2 on mine for some extra protein.

Twelve more sleeps!
Twelve more sleeps till I'm knocked way out and have most of my stomach taken out! After calling my insurance company every few days since I knew the paperwork was submitted, Monday they finally told me I was approved. Yes, I wanted to wait on hold while they called to inform the practice! A couple hours later I had a…

Minor Setback
I had my final diet appointment on 9/22. I also met with the nutritionist and social worker. Once I declared I was going wiht the sleeve, they dropped the endoscopy bomb on me! I was able to get the EGD scheduled for 10/2 and surgeon consult on 10/10. After consult, they package everything up and off to insurance for…

Newbie: Sleeve vs Bypass
Hi everyone! I'm Kim - and next Monday I have my final insurance mandated diet appointment. From the day of my first meeting with the surgeion to start this process, I've lost 21 lbs (about 3.5 months). I currently weigh 261. As part of the normal pre-work, I was tested for apnea, and while I was not diagnosed with it, I…
