65 female workout routine
I have been working out since Jan. Wondering what else I can add as I find switching it up helps from keeping it boring. I usually start out on gym day with stretches, then do the treadmill using the Aaptiv keep up the pace alternating run walk series, then do strength training for about a hour and a half. One day legs,…

My new bike
My son gave me this bike, a giant expressway folding bike so I can load it myself and go riding whenever I want. My other bike is heavy enough I can't lift it to the rack and have to wait for my my husband to load it, but I like to ride in the cool morning and he is slow about moving in the morning. This is one happy ole…

Never give up.
I was going through my brothers photos and found a photo of I think my heaviest. It was about this time I went to the doctor and looked into weight loss surgery. I was sure I couldn't do it myself. You have to follow a pre surgery diet and to my surprise I lost 56 pounds, surgery was on according to my doctor. According to…

Looking for tips on a bike helmet
I have never worn a bike helmet in all my riding but we are planning on a bike ride that requires it. My head sweats terrible so any good suggestions on a womans bike helmet that doesn't need a sweat band under it and is light, thanks in advance.

Pulled groin muscle
I pulled a groin muscle a couple of days ago which is pretty darn painful. When I go to the gym today would working those muscles help stretch it out or should I just stick to doing the weight machines on my arms and legs. I took yesterday off but it isn't really better, and, how long does it take to recover from something…

Getting back in shape for bicycling
I used to ride a lot but after 2 extensive leg surgeries haven't for a couple of years. My goal this year to start riding again and do some fun bike trips like the peddler jam. I am 64 years old and work out at the gym 3 times a week. I do the treadmill for 30, the strength training machines for 45 and the bike for 15.…

Looking for friends
I am 64, looking for friends who have open food diary's so I can get some ideas for meals. I seem to stick with the same ole tried and true and it is getting boring. I started a long time ago here and lost 56 pounds of the 80 I wanted to lose, gained back 10, lost 5 and am going to lose the rest. I usually eat pretty…

Roasted Radishes
I made roasted radishes last night from a recipe I got from WW's They were just awesome and will be a great substitute for potatoes, The roasting mellows them right out and on weight watchers they are zero points. Try them, you will love it.

Back again, older but wiser
I am 64 and have been trying to lose weight almost my entire life. I was a regular member here in 2011 and then after having to have several surgeries I have slipped. Originally I had lost 56, I had gained back 10 and after joining WW 2 weeks ago am down 5 now. I am doing the freestyle WW so wanted to also keep this diary…

renal diet and losing weight
I just found out I have moderate renal failure. Iam hoping to get my numbers up with diet and exercise. The bummer is a lot of the foods I relied on for my foods have to go. Brown rice, yogert, bananas, oranges, steak etc..... No more green monsters boo hoo. So any tips would be welcome. I have to watch my potassium,…

Another Repeater
Hi everyone, again. After a long time away I am back. With the high cholesterol numbers to prove how naughty I have been. Uff da, I just let everything slide. But, I didn't gain all my weight back and I am strongly motivated again. Thanks to all the people who were my friends who are still here and doing a great job and…

10 minute solutions, target zone, how to figure
On the nights I work my 12 hour shifts and then sleep all day I have been doing this workout video on Netflex called 10 minute solutions, target zones. I can really feel them by the way my muscles in my stomach hurt. How do I count these in the exercise diary? Is it a form of palates, ? If anyone has done these or knows…

Live Healthy America Challenge
Anyone doing the challenge this year? It is state to state I think. I am organizing a team from work and we start Jan 20. I will have a lead on my other team members since I hit the gym regularly but it will be a great incentive to buckle down and get her done.

Upper thigh pain
Lately when I am doing the treadmill I get sharp pain in my long thigh muscle running into my groin. It didn't bother me the first couple months, just the last week or so. But I have also been doing more leg presses and weight lifting. And lunges. I usually start out with the treadmill to get my muscles warmed up before I…

Do You do this?
So I am at the gym walking away on the treadmill and watching Man Vs. Food on the TV. Without consciously thinking about it I find myself mentally adding up all the calories he is eating. I have been doing this long enough I have a fair ideal what the calorie count is in almost everything these days and find myself doing…

Researching the "Starvation Mode"
It is a subject that comes up often on the boards and swings both ways as to whether you believe or don't believe in it. So anyway I have been reading up on some old studies that I found very interesting and being that I am older, 56, believe to offer me some light on my eating patterns I have developed over my years of yo…

Leg Press
I recently started using the free weight leg press machine as opposed to the circuit leg press machine at the gym. I liked it until the 3rd day and I screwed up my knee. I was sure I was using it correctly and only 45 pounds since I am older and have bad knees. It's like a have a varicose vein popping out over my knee cap.…

It's about the nutrition
I take care of many obese patients and many thin patients. One thing many of my patients have in common, I work on a heart floor, is terrible nutrition. They couldn't tell you when the last time they had a piece of fresh fruit or a vegetable. Many eat only fast foods. And that is gonna get you. Losing weight is great and…

Scale recommendations.
I usually don't do this but I have to recommend this scale. Eatsmart Digital Bathroom scales are rated 5 stars. I had a WW's before, but this one weighs me the same as at my doctors so I am sure of it's accuracy and their customer support is spot on for prompt replies when I wanted to find out how to re-calibrate it after…
