GPS Exercise Trackers
Anyone use a GPS tracker to see where they've run/walked and how far? I downloaded one to my Samsung Ace, but I'd only thought of it after my 2 hour walk. I mainly wanted to see how fast I was walking on average and how far. I'm hoping this one will do that, although I probably won't have the opportunity now until next…

Which is the best way...
...to measure body fat percentage? I've been told to get it done professionally at the gym using the pinch test, but other ways are to measure hips and wast and neck and wrist... I know I have a high percentage, but might be nice to start measuring it to see if it goes down. Having said that, been dieting and exercising…

For those who are scared to up their calorie intake...
...and eat their exercise cals, I just want to say, it CAN be scary, and you may put on weight, but you have to adjust and find what works for you. For me, I was put on 1200 cals by the site, doing a little exercise and then not eating those calories back, and I was miserable. And I lost less than 1lb. Then last week…

How much weightlifting...
...would a woman need to do to build such significant amounts of muscle that she puts on weight? Whenever I see someone saying 'I've been to the gym and am eating right, but I've put on weight', invariably someone always says 'Maybe you've put on muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat!' But seriously, is it possible for a…

Anyone. :)
I am looking for people of around my age and weight for motivation and friendship. I am 33 and 158, looking to lose 22lbs as my goal this year. I am not new to MFP, but have fallen off the wagon several times, but always manage to find my way back. I have lost 22lbs already. If you are not of same age and weight, feel free…

Pulling in and holding your stomach...
...does this help at all? I know people stand and do bum squeezes (butt clenches) and this is supposed to tone the bum, but if I'm lying in bed or just standing doing the cooking, will this help to tone my stomach muscles? Probably a stupid question...bring on the sarcastic and degrading replies. :glasses:

Not new, but been away for a while!
I'm back, for the third time. I know that's not really a good 'advertisement' of my stick-to-itiveness, and a lot of my friends on here will probably roll their eyes when they see I'm back, if they haven't deleted me after months of inactivity, but I have to keep reminding myself that I have lost 22lbs in the last year and…

How do they do it on Biggest Loser?
I don't understand how these people on Biggest Loser can get through their training and exercise every day. Yes, I know they have 'personal trainers' shouting and screaming at them to say they can do it, but HOW do they do it?? I went to a legs, bums and tums class a few weeks ago and I could not do it. I didn't make it…

Why so hard to lose weight, but easy to put on?
So, had a really bad day yesterday, lots of rubbish and fast food, and when I filled in the diary, I had well over my allowance and it said that 'if everyday were like today' I'd weigh 177 in 5 weeks. That's 21lbs in 5 weeks! To lose that amount would take 21 weeks or more!!!! Why is that? Why does it take so long to lose…

The Origin of your Profile Name
Some people have such interesting profile names. Why not share your story? Rogue is my favourite X-men character. 1979 is the year of my birth. The x and _ were things I had to add a long time ago because Rogue1979 was already taken at the time. Go!

I have no upper body strength...help?
I cannot do such things as push ups, pull ups, tricep dips...how can build my strength? I know it sounds like a stupid question: 'Well, duh...try doing more exercise that works your arms and chest!' but what I can do doesn't seem to be improving me too much. When I do jillian's 30 day shred (day 4 today), I really struggle…

Frozen Yogurt
Anyone know if I could successfully put regular yogurt in the freezer if the end result will be frozen yogurt in the sense that you can buy frozen yogurt, or is it made completely differently? I've noticed I cannot buy frozen yogurt in a decent quantity and the YooMoo is quite expensive, so I thought for my smoothies, I…

Why did I even bother???? (turkey mince versus beef mince)
Please don't answer this if you can't eat or clearly hate beef... I just made some lovely turkey burgers, with sage, thyme, garlic, onion, adding 5 thin water crackers and 1 egg white for binding, and out of 633g mince, I made 6 large burgers. They were gorgeous! I only had one. Now, looking at a comparison, the burgers I…

Turkey Burgers
Making turkey burgers tonight. Anyone have any tips? I'm going to use crackers instead of breadcrumbs and only egg whites, but unsure how many egg whites or how many crackers to use? Also, do you think, onion, garlic, thyme, sage, cumin, salt and black peppers will be too much? :ohwell:

Best way to get rid of belly fat?
Ignoring all the stupid adverts on FB and even the one that is right above my mouser pointed as I type this, what is the best way to lose belly fat? I know that if you diet and exercise, eventually it should go away, and generally you can't choose where your fat goes from anyway, but has anyone (who normally struggles with…

OMG! Christmas!!
Yikes, it's 16 weeks to Xmas about now. Ideally, I'd like to lose 23lbs...that's the extra 7 to get back down to 150, and then another stone. But I think I realistically have to have 16lbs as my goal. 1lb a week is do-able. Anything else would be a bonus. Anyone else have an Xmas goal?

Please help me!

Stage 1 - New and confused, even at this early stage! Please
I have been reading stage one over and over in the book, but I can't get my head around it! I know you have to do 16+2 workouts, and doing 3 per week means 6 weeks and you'll be done (or you can add extra at the end), and you have to do ABAB...but within A and within B, there are A B1 B2 C1 C2...and within those, there are…

Really need help with motivation for exercise!
Ok, so I took a picture of myself when I had 17 weeks to go before going on holiday to Paris, and promised myself I would do strength training 3 times a week and cardio the rest of the week, and 5 weeks later, I have done ZIP!! Literally nothing. Over Easter I really didn't calorie count and got away with only putting on 3…

What do YOU do between workouts?
This is a two-fold question. 1. On the days you're not doing this programme, what do you do exercise wise? Take a look at my regime and tell me if I'm doing it wrong. Monday - Rest Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday - NROL4W (warm up is cardio, about 20mins) Wednesday/Friday - only cardio and core exercises Sunday - swimming (as…

Too many eggs?
I think I may be eating too many eggs. I have been having 2 a day for breakfast on toast. Poached in the microwave, so no oil, but still, you hear horror stories about eggs being bad for your cholesterol. Anyone have any insight? I will be starting to go to the gym and working out at least 4 times a week now, so should…

New Rules of Lifting for Women
Can anyone please try to explain in simple terms what the workouts entail? I've ready the book now, but I can't quite grasp how the workouts should be structured. Also, the book seems to contradict itself a bit. For example, the way muscles get bigger is because of the micro-tearing and rebuild, but a few pages later it…

How much exercise should you count?
I think I read somewhere that you shouldn't consider the first 15mins of your cardio to burn any calories, and just wondered if anyone had any scientific evidence of this or at least good reason. You burn calories all day long, so why would you not burn any calories in the first 15mins of your cardio workout? But, if it is…

So, who is telling the truth??
Please read this article: http://uk.health.lifestyle.yahoo.net/myths-about-water.htm We hear differing stories from lots of different resources, so how do we know who actually has our best interests in mind? Personally, I don't care if I drink bottled or tap, bottled is always cold on a hot day when bought from a shop and…

Absorption of fat molecules into fat cells...anyone know?
I will be going for i-Lipo sessions shortly, and the Spa I am using does the standard 20mins followed by 10min power plate. My question is, how long does it take for fat molecules, once in the blood stream, to go 'Hey, no one is using us as energy, so lets settle down!' and situate themselves in the fat…

Colon Cleanse, Adios, etc

Lifting weights at home...
I want to tone my arms and shoulders, but sometimes can't get to the gym. I have some hand weights at home and would like to start at some point just picking the weights up and doing lifting. Now, I know you have to get the blood flowing to your muscles because if you lift weights cold, you could hurt yourself, but what…
