Best sport watch for running?
I know this question probably gets asked all of the time. I have been using a Garmin Forerunner 210 for about 9 years and it has finally kicked the bucket. So, I am in the market for something new. I want something with GPS so I can track my mileage when I run/walk. I also want a HRM and something that will give me a…

? re Sportline watch HRM
Does anyone know how accurate the calorie count is with the Sportline watch HRM. I know my heart rate goes up quite a bit when I run outside, but it says I burn a lot more calories than I do when I'm running on treadmill. Can this be correct?

Does coffee count toward your daily water intake?
I tend to retain water very easily. Yesterday, I ran for 34 minutes and played a tennis match, stayed under my calorie limit, but still gained almost 1/2 pound. I'm thinking it may be because I didn't drink enough water. So, starting today, I am going to make a concerted effort to drink more. I was just wondering if I can…

What are your top 3 "most used" foods
When I was logging my food the other day, I noticed what my top 3 "most used" foods were and thought it would be interesting to see what everyone else's is. Please post. Mine are: 1. Mayfield 1% Nutrish milk 2. Sharp Cheddar Cheese 3. Whole egg

How you did this week
Well, the week isn't over yet, but I will post that I ran yesterday. With my 5 min walk to warm up and cool down, I went 3.8 miles in 46 minutes. That was running for 8 minutes and then walking one minute, repeated 4 times. I am using a program I found on marathontrainingacademy's website to build up to running 30 minutes.…

Garmin Connect issues
Any one else having problems with Garmin connect? It will upload my runs, but not show the map or let me edit the entry. It won't show the map on previous runs either. I have had this issue all week. Any ideas on what the problem is?

Garmin users question
I recently purchased a Garmin Forerunner 210. I love it, but do have a question about the times it displays when downloaded on the computer. The run I did today shows Time: 51:01, Moving Time: 50:08, and Elapsed Time 52:08. Then, when it shows the splits on my intervals, they total 51:01. But since the "moving time" is…

Anyone have the Garmin Forerunner 210
Hi, I am seriously considering getting a Garmin Forerunner 210. If you have one, do you like it? Is it worth the investment? FYI, I plan to only use it for running to help measure distance, calories burned, pace, etc. Thanks in advance for your input.

Do you run for time or distance?
I've been running for about a year now. My max distance at a slow pace has been 6.4 miles. I try to run at least 30 minutes 3 - 4 days a week. I am wanting to increase my mileage and decrease my speeds and would love to do a half marathon sometime this year. I have searched for training programs, just because I do better…

Eating for an 11 am race start
I am planning to run a 5 mile race tomorrow, which starts at 11 am. For earlier race starts, I'll eat oatmeal for breakfast and maybe a banana before the race. How should I eat for this race, since it starts later and I probably won't finish until nearly noon?

Timex vs Garmin HRM
Hi, I am going to a running store today to finally get fitted for a new pair of running shoes. I may also buy a HRM with a chest strap. But, I believe the only one they have in the store is the Timex brand. I was just wondering what you all think of that vs the Garmin. Should I just order one off the internet? Any thoughts…

school teachers and proper hydration
I am a substitute teacher. When I am working, I don't drink enough water during the day. I only get water at lunch and don't drink a lot then, because I don't want to have to go to the bathroom and not be able to. I mean, you can't leave a whole classroom of kids to go. Then, if I go for a run after school, it's never easy…

Hauling hay
I am going to go help my neighbor load some square bales of hay on a wagon in a few minutes. Are there any farmers, or non-farmers, out there that could help me decide how to log that. I don't want to wear my HRM, because it is just a watch and I'm afraid I'll scratch/lose it in the field. I thought about weight lifting,…

Is there really such a thing as an "easy run?!"
I have been running 3 days a week, consistently, for 9 months and worked up to running 30+ minutes without stopping. I have ran a 4 mile and two 5K races so far this year, with another planned in a couple of weeks. I recently bought Runner's World's book "Complete Book of Women's Running." I am following one of the…

Running in the rain
I have a 5K in the morning. The forecast is for 30% chance of rain, 97% humidity. I'm new at racing, so my question is, should I wear anything different just in case it rains?

Jeff Galloway books
I am an almost 53 year old female. I have been running consistently, 3 times a week, for about 8 months now. I have just gotten to where I can run over 30 minutes without stopping to walk. (That was a goal of mine for the year. So excited that I've met that one.) I ran 40 minutes this morning, really slow non stop, and…

Does running hills ever get easier?
Hi, I am fairly new to running...been consistently running 3 times a week since November 2011. I managed to run 30 minutes without stopping on the treadmill and then took to running on my local road once the weather got warmer. I had to almost start over again, but today finally managed to run 35 minutes without stopping.…

ear piece for MP3 player
I have an MP3 player that I haven't used in a couple of years because the cord to the ear pieces keeps breaking where it leaves the plug into the MP3. I have bought 2 new headphones and they both did this..I guess from the movement caused when I'm running. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to keep this from…

Is it just me?
I have what some people may call a good problem. After I exercise, I am not hungry. I could go all day after a morning run and not eat a bite. I know that isn't good, so I make myself eat. Was just wondering if this happens to anyone else, or is it just me?

1st race with electronic chip timing tomorrow
I am running a 4 mile race in the morning. I have only ran in one other official race, a 10K trail run 2 years ago. This will be the first time I will be running where they are using electronic chip timers. Any advice?

where do you put your key on race day?
I have a 4 mile race tomorrow and just realized I won't have a friend there to hold my keys and my shorts and t-shirt don't have pockets. What am I supposed to do with my car key? (I'm almost positive that they do not have lockers for the race participants.)

hit the dreaded plateau
I have been within .5 pounds, up or down, from my current weight for 3 weeks now. I guess this qualifies as the dreaded plateau. Any suggestions as to how to get off it and start back down again? Before you ask, I really don't want to open up my food diary to the world. I'm older, 52, and still a little leery of letting…

ate, exercised, and still gained, anyone else?
Yesterday, I did a 4 mile run, drank over 8 cups of water, and ate like 1600 calories (still under what MFP says would have been my goal). When I finished my food diary for the day, it said if I did this every day for 5 weeks I'd lose 10 more pounds. But, this morning, the scale says I had GAINED over 1/2 a pound. Has this…

ripped in 30 and running?
I've always been of the opinion that your shouldn't run 2 days in a row in order to let your muscles "heal." So, will it be okay to do the Ripped in 30 DVD and still run every other day?
