Macros: grams or percentage?
Hi! So I got in a LOT more activity than usual, thanks to the 18" of snow that needed to be relocated. I went to log my food, and bam! Macros automatically adjusted to account for extra energy spent. I went from 40g to the 60g being "acceptable@ as far as MFP is concerned. So... Do I listen to the mass (grams) or do I…

Moodiness?
Day 4 of solid ketosis. Metallic taste in the mouth. Test strips are dark pink. Burn, baby, burn. On the flip side, I feel like I have the worst case of PMS, out of nowhere. It's not "that time." Any tips other than waiting it out?

Macros - grams or percentages?
Hi! So I got in a LOT more activity than usual, thanks to the 18" of snow that needed to be relocated. I went to log my food, and bam! Macros automatically adjusted to account for extra energy spent. I went from 40g to the 60g being "acceptable@ as far as MFP is concerned. So riddle me this, Batman... Do I listen to the…

Keto and the flu. Help?
Certain I have the flu. Someone please help me figure out what to eat , since the BRAT diet has been my go to. (Bananas. Rice. Applesauce. Toast. ) :(

Keto cheerleaders! I need them!
So, I'm relatively new to keto and don't have many keto-friendly folks in my friend list. So, if you'd like another keto-friendly friend to cheer you on in this challenge, I'd love to be added! (I'd also love to see what your diary looks like, since I'm not even close to hitting my fiber macro and I'm WAY over on protein…

Running with a dog?
Hi! Can anyone recommend any resources for teaching / training a dog to be a running buddy? We adopted our second Cattle Dog. She's full of energy and likes to run. I'd like to take her with me, so that we both get exercise, but she's not getting the concept of running, for the sake of running. Thanks!

Vitamix, Ninja, or Nutrabullet? Discuss!
Here's the deal. I love homemade soup. I love fresh veggie juice. I don't like paying $4 a bottle when I can juice at home. I also hate my juicer because it's a PITA to clean and it means tossing all of the healthy fiber. Blending fruit and veggies to make juice in my Oster blender leaves me with an unappetizing, gloppy…

turkey jerky: marinades?
A friend introduced me to turkey jerky today. I have a dehydrator and would like to make turkey jerky. There are loads of recipes out there, but I'd like to ask you which ones you've tried and loved. Thanks!

Dinner in a swampy kitchen?
The apartment that we rent is toasty warm in the winter, which is nice. We can open a window if it gets too warm, and life is good. We're learning that even with the AC on, whenever we cook anything in the kitchen, it goes from comfortable to swampy in here. Like 84 degrees with humidity and then it takes a really long…

WAR!
While I won't be attending this year, I wish you all a wonderful trip! Can't wait to hear about your adventures (and what you ate!) when you get back!

HRM for a guy?
DH and I finally had "the chat." He thinks he wants a HRM. The HRM in this case, would be more to keep track of the heart rate than it would be to monitor calorie burn. I know they make $500 Garmins that go on the wrist, but that's out of the budget at the moment. So, that being said, for the guys who DO use a HRM, which…

June 11 - How'd you to today? :)
So how did today go? What's you plan for tomorrow?

MFP: Tips and tricks
I've got two to share: 1) You can enter negative values for food. (Wait, what?) Say you order the Pecan Chicken salad from Wendy's, but you don't eat the ounce of cranberries (or whatever the measurement) you can log -1 oz of cranberries and it'll give you back those calories. I use this when I order a burger without a…

June 10 - How / what did you do today?
If there's no objection, I'd like to have a consolidated, daily thread (by day) so that people can share what they did today, if they met their goals, if they got some exercise in. If I don't start the thread, hopefully, someone else will. This way, we can all celebrate our accomplishments and hold each other accountable.…

Mushroom caps - Do you peel them?
Here's one for you. I was preparing mushrooms and popped the stem out and started to peel off the outer layer, using the edge that was nearest where the stem had been. I was stopped and asked what the [heck] I was doing. When I was taught to cook mushrooms, I was taught to remove the outer layer and have been doing it…

Niacin deficiency? Help!!
Hi! I know I'm sensitive to wheat, but have been doing the no wheat thing since the 90's, so I'm not sure if I'd have a true positive for celiac-sprue anyway. The blood test came back positive, but the scope came back clean, presumably because I'd stopped obliterating my gut years ago. I do have a question for the group,…

Geeky movies NOT out of Hollywood?
We just watched "Astropia" and LOVED it. What are some other decent geeky/nerdy films not from Hollywood and that don't count as Anime?

Nerd candy: Voice actors reading Star Wars (FUNNY!)
THIS is an absolute treat. It's a whole bunch of voice actors reading lines from Star Wars. It's pure GOLD. "Billy West, Tara Strong, Maurice LaMarche, John DiMaggio, Kevin Conroy, Jess Harnell and Rob Paulsen reading the Star Wars Trilogy as a radio play at Emerald City Comic Con this year, using their own character…

Happiness on the homefront?
So I've got an honest question to throw out there. What do you do to keep your relationship / marriage strong once they've come home, especially if they come back a little different than when they left. Might not be full-blown PTSD with terrorizing nightmares or readjustment disorder. Might be something scaled back, but...…

Astronaut + Myth Busters + ...space burrito? = WIN!
Need to see something awesome? How about watching the Myth Busters team encourage astronaut Chris Hadfield make a burrito in space? No, seriously... It's kinda cool. I just watched a guy make the first space burrito. :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8-UKqGZ_hs

Geeky movies!
We just watched "Unicorn City" and well, it was awesome. A little over-the-top at times, but for what it was (and after we identified half of the film as people we know), we thought it was a good movie. What are some geeky / nerdy movies that you absolutely love and why do you love them?

These are books. Books are cool.
How cool is this? http://www.thisisgloucestershire.co.uk/Doctor-fan-buys-14-000-books-TV-eBay-schools/story-18879439-detail/story.html#axzz2SEI8q3mR (Here's the copy from the article in case you can't open the link...) "DOCTOR Who fan David Dovey is giving away 14,000 books from the TV series to schools after finding them…

Orphan Black
Is anyone else watching this show? It's on right after Dr. Who on BBC America. Do you think Sara's going to leave? Do you think we'll see more clones? Any thoughts as to why the angel clone has blonde hair? Is it dyed or is it "natural?" Is the she original specimen?

When does the workout stop?
I'm using a HRM and wanted to know if there was a good rule to follow as to when to when the workout is technically over. If I run 30 minutes, and my HRM has me at 167 BMP while I'm running (I'm working on improving that), if I keep the HRM on when I'm done running, it'll tell me that I'm at, say 128 at the 15th minute (3…

RA and body temperature regulation in the hands and feet?
Hi! Let me throw this one out there... Has anyone else had experience with both RA and circulation issues in the hands and feet (specifically the fingers and toes)? By circulation issues, I mean having incredibly cold fingers / toes (68 degrees, thanks to the digital thermometer) and not being able to warm them up. Thyroid…

VIsiting Houston - Where should i eat?
I'm flying out to Houston this week for work. Where should i eat? What should I try to see in the evenings, after work? I believe I'll be in the northwest part of Houston, about 30 mins from the airport, if that makes a difference... Thanks!
