I'm with you bozmo.
It's really about execution for me, too. Too much dilly dallying, too many excuses. Just need to focus and GO!!
Soooo many NSVs when I do it right.

Love reading your successes. I swapped out seasonal clothing today and wondered if I dared throw out the fall/winter stuff that I hope will not fit. Anybody else taken that leap of faith?
I got some containers at the hardware store and moved most of them down to the basement. The weight started coming off so fast after not budging for so long that I was nervous about giving them all away right away! I’m about to start loading up my next container.4 -
After losing weight just about everywhere but my gut, I've finally started dropping inches. I punched 3 new holes in my belt last week with inch spacing and I'm onto the 2nd one today. And I used to have to practically shoe horn myself into these things lol.13

My NSV today is I'm sore as *kittens* today after my walk/jog yesterday. Whaaaaa???? you say? How can that be a victory?
For the past several years I've had a lot of pain and stiffness after working out - to the point I don't like to work out. That all went away a few months ago when I was keeping true to keto, and felt good to work out again because I only had very minor discomfort the next day. Now that I went off keto for 5 weeks the soreness is back. coincidence? I don't think so.
My NSV is being able to identify one more correlation between the keto diet and my health. So when I start "slipping" I know there are more ramifications than just slowed weight loss.5 -
My wife has bagged up an astonishing amount of clothing that is ridiculously large for me and not "wearable." This will go to GoodWill.9

K, so I started keto on the first of the year, and in late March I had a nasty light-headed-bradycardic-couldn’t-see moment. I’d had a few similar but much milder episodes years ago while nursing my son, but since that huge one I’ve been having them several times a day. So I went to the doctor and of course I told her about the diet, because it would be irresponsible not to, and she was...not impressed. She proceeded to list a bunch of things I might be deficient in as a result of eating this way, murmured something about the brain using carbs, and ordered a bunch of blood work.
It came back perfect today. Not a bad number in the bunch. Cholesterol, electrolytes, vitamins, triglycerides—every level was solidly in the green. So I have to go back and get a cardio work up and that sucks, but in the meantime, I have confirmation that I don’t just “feel” healthy on keto; I am healthy.
Through some witchcraft I even had enough potassium.13 -

good to hear!
but I would argue that the guidelines for electrolytes are low for keto'ers (and for migraine sufferers). If all your markers are good perhaps consider upping the electrolytes, especially for light headed and/or arrhythmic things. and... find a new doc.4 -

(1) I lost vision for a moment and it came right back and i was diagnosed with a TIA (mini-stroke) which was so mild and fast it left no side effects, but now I take blood thinners for life. I have had Atrial Fibrillation which can cause clots that can cause TIA's.
or (2) From Wikipedia: "Despite the temporary nature of the vision loss, those experiencing amaurosis fugax are usually advised to consult a physician immediately as it is a symptom that may herald serious vascular events, including stroke."0 -

That’s both fascinating and terrifying. I’m glad you have a handle on it! Unless I’m having multiple mini-strokes per day (is that a thing?? don’t tell me) I suspect I’m dealing with something different, but we’ll track it down. Cardiology is up next.FlyingMolly wrote: »K, so I started keto on the first of the year, and in late March I had a nasty light-headed-bradycardic-couldn’t-see moment. I’ll ask about the electrolytes at my next visit, but I’ll give the doc another shot—she really came around when she saw the labs, and I can’t fault a scientist for waiting for evidence. I was, after all, sitting in her office telling her something is wrong with me.
Also my new leggings arrived today and they’re awesome and not too small at all and when I went to the gym in them I felt...normal? Like people would assume I belonged there, instead of feeling defensive and like I had something to prove. So another NSV for the day.6 -
I had two NSVs today:
1 - I jogged 5k. Its been quite a while since I did that.
2 - I did it in shorts I couldn't button last year!11 -

I used to lose vision (or get tunnel vision) a few times a day due to postural hypotension - I'd get up, my BP would bottom out and my vision would go. As a kid, I remember seeing how far across my house I could get before my vision came back. I thought it was normal. LOL
LCHF has actually helped me a lot with that because I was forced to use more salt. In the past I'd been on the low sodium band wagon. Oops.
I think it is only red blood cells (eurythrocytes have no mitichondria) that need glucose to function. The brain can use ketones... weird how many docs don't know that.7 -
I usually wear a uniform to work (that I hate). I had a pair of uniform pants in the back of my closet that have never fit me. Oh I've worn them before..... with an elastic on the button to keep the waist done up. Yesterday I figured I'd give them a shot and they fit perfectly! Now I'm going to get rid of all my bigger ones and never go back! Even ordering new uniform pieces will be fun..... just because they will be smaller.9

I have been sick all weekend and have been craving comfort foods full of carbs. But i did not indulge!! And while I am still sick, i know i can stay on plan10

NSV at the movies: Ben & Jerry's ice cream was buy one, get one free and my fiance ordered some ice cream. It's my favorite food, but it actually wasn't hard to say no. I had a small bite of his and it tasted... really way to sweet! I didn't feel deprived and I'm not sorry I saved room for a healthy dinner instead.14

Saturday was crazy busy, but I did a quick round of torso measurements even though I didn't have time to do all my measurements...lost 1/2 an inch on my low belly...that's totally a problem area for me, so I was delighted!!!14

So this one is kind of scale related...
For the first time since at least high school, as of yesterday, my BMI is now just “Overweight” instead of “Obsese”23 -
Yay! Congrats.1

I did only I am faced with not much to wear this summer. I really have to hit the consignment shops around here. I tried shopping at some local stores, but the styles are so ugly right now. I need more classic looking pieces since I'll be wearing about this size, hopefully, for the rest of my life.5 -
Ok....mine is weird....today I looked at my toes....and they don’t look fat....the are still a bit short....but I actually like my toes!!!!!!!
Great job ocean girl..... it is a great feeling when you can fit something you couldn’t wear before!!
Keep up the hard work8 -
@aupston probably your shoes are more comfy too.... that is if you don't have to stick insoles in them now (I had to in a few flats).0

I’ve run 4-5 miles the last three days in a row and have been doing this 30 day, 100 squats a day challenge since June 1.9
-
I fit into a size 14 pants today! I am now one size away from fitting in my high school size...woah!12

I joined the Great Cycle challenge against Childhood Cancer. Although I have scarcely been on my bike for the last three years I've been able to ride over 100 miles since 6/1 with only sore thighs to report. Plenty of good old keto energy!
In case anyone would like to help me reach my goal in a good cause: https://greatcyclechallenge.com/Riders/FrankVaisey7 -
I just five minutes ago realized that pervasive sweet smell in my nose is probably ketone breath! Knew my cravings were gone, but didn't think I'd go into ketosis. Sure smells like it! sweet sweet sweet sweet smell...
I eat vegetables and sweetened jerky, so my carbs are under my limit (100) but nowhere near 20. Is it possible to get that smell from eating very little? I'm confused now.

Paula, I wish my keto breath were sweet. To me it just feels like I really really need to brush my teeth. Yuck! Of course, I haven't tested my blood/ urine/ saliva ketones but I'm sitting at about 12-15 net carbs a day and the weight is sliding off, so I assume I am. Count yourself lucky!3

@PaulaKro Some get into (mild) ketosis at higher carb levels. Most are in ketosis under 50g except for some with insulin resistance. I've heard of some people being well over 100g of carbs and in ketosis, mainly if they are active and time theur carbs near exercise.
It could also depend on the type of cabs you eat too. If you are eating "slower carb" foods with a low glycemic load and lots of fibre, your net carbs could be around 50g.3 -
I aim for about 100g of carbs on lifting days and it doesn't seem to kick me out of ketosis.4

Thank you all! It is so nice to hear that what's happening can be normal.
