going out to eat
Just wondering how you all handle tracking your calories when you go out to eat? A lot of restaurants dont have their calorie or nutrition information, and if it is not a chain, they arent in the data base either. I try to eat small and stick to one serving, but I feel like I am not logging things accurately. Thanks!

Starting now
I have been trying to maintain weight since I was diagnosed in 2007. I am not having much luck. I have been blessed with two children. Yesterday, I was feeling dizzy and just terrible. I checked my sugar, my mom and sister are diabetic, it was 412! I am terrified. It went down a few hours later after drinking a ton of…

Caloric intake & PCOS
Have you found that you have more success with losing weight at a higher caloric intake or lower? When I started I was doing the 1200 calorie thing and losing and then I stopped losing, researched, believed that the 1200 was really quite low so jumped to 1600. I started losing a bit again, but it is slow. Like snail-paced…

PCOS and Red Meat?
You know, Goggle can be your friend sometimes... but it can also be very confusing with the vast amount of information out there. I mean, how do you know what to trust? How do you know what is a credible, reliable source? Eat this. Don't eat that. Do this. Don't do that. There is so much information out there and it all…

New with questions
I am new here. I started noticing that I was growing a mustache and neck beard a few years ago, and that my hair was thinning so I went to the doctor. Tests were done and it was found that I have a high level of DHEA, but no underlying medical conditions were found. My most recent doctor said I had PCOS just because of my…

Treating PCOS with Only Metformin and no BCP?
Hello fellow PCOS sisters! After 15 years on it, I've decided to kick "the pill" to the curb and try to treat the root cause of my PCOS which is the insulin resistance. My endocrinologist told me about studies linking long term pill use to increased insulin resistance problems, not good! That and Yasmin has skyrocketed my…

Has anyone ever had Metformin quit working?
Has anyone had Metformin work for them for a time, then quit working? The usual things I see are: 1. It doesn't work at all, ever. 2. It works with the starting dose 3. It works, but takes a few months to find the right dose However, what I feel like I'm running into is that it worked for me for about 6-8 months, but just…

Strength Training w/ PCOS
I was recently diagnosed with PCOS and I've been reading up on it a lot recently. It seems like strength training is vital for people that are insulin resistance since muscle uses insulin. crash dieting and what is realistic
About five years ago I went on a crazy diet and went from about 180 to 137 lbs. I was barely eating anything and was exercising like cazy. My loss stopped there so what is realistic this time around if I am eating more and moving less on this diet? Will pcos make it impossible for me to get to my goal of 130? I'm 5'4 and…

I see many posts about eating calories back after working out but usually these are people who don't have PCOS. I burn anywhere from 600-1000 calories 5-6 times a day. I am, if I am lucky, losing a pound a week. Its become frustrating to work so hard and not see any changes. Im not seeing any changes on the scale or with…

PCOS resolving with age?
I was diagnosed with PCOS at age 19 and I've dealt with just about every symptom in the book. Bariatric surgery or not?
I'm seriously considering gastric bypass because of my years of yo-yo-ing and because of my diagnosis of pcos, sleep apnea, hypo thyroid, pre-diabetes and fact that I cannot seem to wrap my mind around the numbers and measurements that go into a diet for someone in my situation.
