Got my date, but second thoughts...
So - I got my date for gastric bypass - 3-2-16 (hooray!) But now, Im really having second thoughts. First - I've always been overweight. I'm 45. I started this process in June feeling like I had no hope. Through visits with my surgeons office, diet and exercise I've lost 120 lbs (yippee!). I started at 420, CW 300. The…

Exercise with extra skin
Hello all - I'm about 18 months out from surgery and have lot of extra skin. I wasn't super active throughout the process but have been going to the gym 6 days a week for a while now and feel great and probably the healthiest I've been in my entire life. My issue is I'm getting held back and sort of self conscious…

Finally Approved from band to sleeve.
It's taken three months and a complete "Come to God" with my dr's coordinator and my insurance company but now I can maybe get some pain relief. I have had my band for over eight years and it has begun to cause sever pain. At first doctors thought it was my heart, then they said it was gall bladder, finally they decided it…

Interesting article about what a bariatric Doctor thinks about his patients
http://www.obesityhelp.com/articles/surgery-is-not-the-easy-way-out-a-bariatric-surgeons-perspective I found this illuminating. Hope some of you find it helpful

How long does the process take?
How long on average does it take for the insurance company to accept or reject you? If you're accepted how long does the process normally last between all the appointments up until the day of surgery? I've just got done filling out my paper work and plan on turning it in on the 11th for when I go to the seminar.

Step one complete!
Hello all! I am a 30 year female, I am 5'3" and as of this am weigh 209 lbs. I have been considering weight loss surgery for quite some time and even started the process four years ago but then got pregnant. Just recently it has really been on my mind again, so yesterday I spoke to my family physician (switched providers…

Unjury questions
OK, so now that my stomach can handle protein powder, I am trying to find a way to make it not taste gross. I've tried the flavorless Unjury and Isopure. The Unjury certainly is less terrible, but I can still taste it in my milk/crystal light. I baked some of the isopure into some all-bran muffins and it was undetectable.…

2 month post op
I'm a scientist, and I have a hard time not having a clear scientific formula for success! I had my 2 month follow-up and I wanted a clear range for calories, macros, and exercise. However, they just told me that I'm doing beyond "textbook great". I keep feeling like I'm not losing as quickly as I should, but they reminded…

Finally having my sleeve surgery today
Well today is the day I wished I had 8 years ago when I was denied the lap band. However today I am getting my gallbladder removed and having the sleeve surgery. I was able to lose 183 pounds on my own during those 8 years. Now the tool of the sleeve will help with the remaining 160.

What the heck :-(
Ok forgive this post I just have to blow steam. Before my WLS I lost 101 pounds on my own with no weight loss pills or meds and I felt awesome. Well since my surgery on Nov.11.15 I have only lost 23 pounds and I am completely depressed over it. That's pretty much 3 months of only losing 23 pounds, and before surgery I lost…

Stomach spasms
So I landed myself in the ER yesterday with what they could only guess was some type of stomach spasms. Basically, it felt like a sharp stabbing pain just underneath my left rib cage that was steady at first but then eventually started coming in cycles. I have a pretty high threshold for pain, and while it wasn't the worst…

Logging food
How many of you are strict with your logging? I'm trying but admittedly I forget a lot of the time. I know it's an important part of the process, but I just can't seem to make myself do it. I used to have a routine, but I fell away from it. Any tips?

9 months post-op and not losing any weight
Hi all, I'm new to the group and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Jennifer and I had my surgery in April 2015. I've lost 85 pounds so far but need to lose another 50 to 60 and have come to a stand-still with my weight loss.. meaning I haven't lost but a few pounds over the past month or so. I know there are things…

Plateau
I was wondering if anyone in the group had had any issues with reaching a weight loss plateau. I have been at the same weight for two weeks now and am getting very frustrated. I only had the RYN surgery on 11/17/11, and after losing 33 pounds, I haven't been able to lose anymore. I can't tell if I'm eating too much or too…

Water
Is it normal to have water lightly hurt your tummy when you drink, but I can eat my 1/2 cup of food and it does not hurt? I have to be so careful when I drink. I had my RNY on Nov.11.15

Hiatal Hernia
After my upper gi and barium swallow test for before surgery my surgeons office called and said I have a small hiatal hernia but the surgeon would talk to me about it at our next appointment. I am currently in the process of doing all the requirements to get approval for VGS hopefully in March. Has anyone had any…

New to MFP and WLS
hi all. I had the VSG on 12/21/15. I'm looking for people who share this journey for advice, recipes, ideas, fitness and any other general conversation on the subject. I'm not sure yet how to add people but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it.

Is this normal?
My surgery was 11/23/15 so I am just shy of 2 mos post op. I still can only get down 2 oz. of protein. My NUT told me to add veggies/starch/fruit in that order when I "had room". I am still full after 2 oz. protein so I can't add anything yet........I have been looking at other posts and diaries and most people out the…
