To tell or not to tell
So, before I had my WLS I lost 100 lbs on my own and I made sure to post it to my facebook page so that it wont be a shock when I start losing faster. Now I'm so scared that someone is going to find out that I had WLS. Am I being stupid to worry about it? I have see others put people down for having WLS and I just don't…

The Reformed Chef: Cooking After the "Healing Stages"
So, I know we have a few cooking threads and from those I can tell that there are some fantastic chefs out there. Since it's becoming that "get together" time of year, I thought I'd make a new one where we can share recipe recommendations, cookbook recommendations, and the like. If you've found any books that have been…

Christmas tipple
Hi, I'm just wondering if anyone had some new tummy freindly alcoholic beverages they would recommend? I have been reading that a small glass of white (non sweet) wine might be the best option? Im not a big drinker and dont plan on being one - I have made the commitment of being drink free for as long as possible but with…

Keto/Low Carb Recipe
I was browsing Pinterest for low carb/keto-friendly recipes, and I came across this recipe for Pork Rind Tortillas theprimitivepalate.com/2015/02/08/pork-rind-tortillas/. Normally, about 50% of the recipes I make from Pinterest should end up on on of those "Pinterest Fail" blogs, but with a few tweaks, these turned out…

Anyone have any good strategies for getting through the most foodiest time of the year? Freaking out a little.....
I am 6 weeks out from a sleve and have stalled - gaining and losing same 2 kilos in last 2 weeks! Its so frustrating and depressing! Im having about 550 cals a day and 40 - 50 grams protein. Was worried it was not enough cals so upped it yesterday ( thanks to the help of cashew nuts) to 700 to see if that would break…

excessive weight loss in first week?
I'm mildly freaking out by the number on my scale, trying to find out if others experienced the same. I had surgery just Monday, on 11/16. Morning of surgery, I weighed in at 287. I left the hospital at 290 (all the fluids). So you can image my shock when my scale today read 269.8! Yesterday I was 274, and the day before,…

Daily Intake Poll for Post-Op Folks
Just curious: How many months post-op, and what do you average for your daily calories v/s what calorie limit hast your Dr/NUT given to you? I'm almost 4 months out (7/8 S.D.). I have been sticking to 650-700 calories per day. On the weekends it can be a lot less, as I tend to forget to eat. At my 3 month check-back this…

Losing BEFORE Surgery
ok...found out that I'm too heavy for a safe bypass. The surgeon told me that I have to lose 60lbs before a surgery date could be set. It was a horrible realization to have halfway through the informational meeting. So the journey began... Insurance requires a 6mo medically supervised diet, so I accepted that I could lose…

Regrets or issues
I am looking at having the gastric sleeve done in a few weeks. At my highest weight I was 403lbs. In the last month I have lost 17 lbs. I just want to know what was the most difficult part of having bariatric surgery, any regrets or major issues? Also, are you able to eat normal food again and meet your protein goals set…

Depression and VSG
just want to share something. Prior to surgery, I never dealt with depression. Since surgery, about twice a month, I would have a combined craving for sweets and I would feel very blue, with a feeling like there was nothing that would ever make me happy, and nothing that triggered it. After talking with my therapist (I…

Using protein powders...questions
Probably an obvious question, but when adding protein powders to broths or other liquids, can you just manually stir it in to dissolve, or do you need to use a blender? I tried making the Unjury chicken soup flavored powder today. I added it to warm (not too hot) water, tried to stir it in, and it just clumped up into…

Journaling food post op
Now that I'm post op, my calorie intake is below mvp guidelines so it won't let me post daily. Is there a way to do this, or is that a premium option? It will let me journal, it just won't post at the end of the day.
