CPAP Complication?
Hi. So I'm on my final month of the pre-op diet. I had a sleep study about 3 months ago and was given a CPAP. I could not get the hang of the dang thing. Even with the sleeping pills my doctor gave to help get used to the machine I could only handle a couple hours with the machine on. I think it's because I'm a…

How do you set your goals?
I'm working on a goal reset. How do you determine yours? My original goal was to weigh x at 6months post op. I'm close. +2.7. Which is almost nothing if I look at how far I've come. I'm still fighting the failure feeling. Wednesday marks 6 months. Number wise, I would like to lose another 13 by mid March. That would put me…

Surgery Secret...
Things they don't tell you before surgery: your boobs will deflate like a week old balloon! I am 28 and have been busty since high school. I had imagined that my boobs would decrease in size as I lost weight. I mean they are like 100% fat...of course some of that tissue would go away. I thought they would shrink UP...but…

1 week Post Op & Need some support!
Hi everyone. Well, I'm finally on the other side of this journey after going through this process for about 1.5 years now!! Woo hoo! I'm one week post-op (bypass) and I could use some friends for support! I'm a 35 year old married mom of 3 currently dying of boredom because I can't hardly move (& I am sooo used to not…

Calorie Goals
I am 8 months post op. 113 lbs gone, 25 to go (maybe more). I slacked off on exercise back in June and I am getting back on track. I really need to build muscle and tone to minimize the negative effects of the rapid weight loss and help me reach my scale goal. I still find it hard to consume my water, protein and calorie…

In need of support :(
So I am about 4 months into my 6 month physician supervised diet that is required by my insurance company. This weigh in is the first that I gained weight. Last month I lost 12 pounds. This time I gained 4. I am like freaking out because I went to a pre op support group, and they were saying that you even gain a pound that…

Angie 2.0
hellloooo! It has been a crazy journey, but I made it! Due to my surgical weight, there was a chance that I would have had to start with the sleeve then transition to RNY and could have required open surgey. I was able to have my RNY laparoscopically in just over an he in the OR!! Yay to all of my pre-work paying off!!!…

Donating blood?
Have any of you donated blood post surgery? I'm about 5 months out. When I was on medifast, they recommended not donating because I was eating so little, and I'm eating less now. I really want to. Among other things, I get "points" that I can use at my work gym for things like reserving locker. Right now, I either keep my…

Homemade Protein Bars
Does anyone make or have made their own protein bars? I was wondering what your experience has been. Are they easy to make, tasty, cost effective and worth the time?

Saying, "Hello"
I had conversion to RNY (this day of surgery weight was 231 lb), from sleeve, almost a year ago, due to bile reflux! I never got to goal with the sleeve (had actually regained about 60 pounds of the 110 I had lost, while looking for comfort foods). The surgeon told me not to expect any weight loss since my pouch is larger…

Help! I need a "goal partner" lol!
I am at the point in my weight loss journey where I need a friend to follow me when I log in my food intake on my fitness pal. I need someone who had gastric sleeve and is very driven and committed to tracking their intake everyday. I am looking for someone who is similar to me in size so we are basically following the…

Christmas Party
I've been terrified about my husband's Christmas party for a few months. I decided to give myself one year off from all social events with food (except for my work events that I couldn't get out of). During that time, I quit smoking and, of course, gave up alcohol. This was my first time out of the house dressed up in…

When did you start to actually feel "good"?
I am 5 weeks post op and still don't feel that great.....it is getting better, but just always feel either just "ok" or have a stomachache. I eat very little--about an oz of protein at a time....more than that gives me a terrible stomachache. I am getting in my protein and most of my fluids. I don't have "buyers…

Surgery Prep with medications
I am in the process of getting my insurance approval for Lapband surgery in February. I will need to address my medications with my psychiatrist at my next appointment. How did you go about weaning down from your medications for the few weeks post op that you cannot swallow pills?

Saying goodbye to 2015
I heard a bit on the radio tonight - what do you want to leave behind in 2015? My first thought was 100 lbs! And I'm taking steps to make that a forever left behind 100. So in spirit of leaving things behind I'm going to go through my clothes and get rid of the too big stuff - I don't need it anymore. And I won't ever need…

measuring cooked vs. raw weight
I've seen this question on older threads, but not a really clear answer. When I am determining nutrients for food, do I measure the raw weight or the cooked weight? For example, say I divide out a 2 oz portion of salmon. After I cook it, it's now about 1.5 oz. Which is the accurate weight for counting out my protein, etc?…

Sometimes, just the smell (gross post and vent)
can send me into vomiting. Yesterday, for example. Hubby and I went to Golden Corral. It's a waste of money for me, at least quantity-wise, but having the meat selection is nice. Anyway, I had a few bites and was waiting to eat a little more. Hubby had started on the taco meat. It's his fave. He burped and whoa Nelly! I…

Bowel movements & all-liquid diet
Hello reader, I am wondering if anyone has had the same experience as me; some butt-talk is ahead, just so you are warned! I am on day 8 of my all-liquid diet and I am having some issues with running to the bathroom every ~5-15 mins all day. This started yesterday on day 7. I have had a colonoscopy before and it seems as…

Girl Scout Cookie Solution
Its Girl Scout cookie season. This year I pledge to not eat those wonderful confections that my daughter is selling. Instead I've decided to donate the boxes I would normally purchase to "Cookies for the Troops" every box donated will be shipped to actively deployed military, to give them a little taste of home. If you…
