sleeve revision to roux en y
Hi, I had a sleeve done 2 years ago and had a revision this week to roux en y. My esophagus suffered damage from severe reflux from the sleeve, was twisted, and I also managed to get another hiatal hernia. My esophagus ended up being too weak to get fundoplication and ended up with a roux en y…I originally wanted the…

Bowel movements & all-liquid diet
Hello reader, I am wondering if anyone has had the same experience as me; some butt-talk is ahead, just so you are warned! I am on day 8 of my all-liquid diet and I am having some issues with running to the bathroom every ~5-15 mins all day. This started yesterday on day 7. I have had a colonoscopy before and it seems as…

I am a newbie!
Hello to whomever is reading! My name is Sam and I am 24 years old. I started my life-long journey in May (2015) by choosing to make the most important decision I have ever made: preparing for RNY bypass! I have already had some ups and downs, and I have finally made it to the final stages of surgery! I had my pre-op class…

One Week Post-op
Well I made it through the first week. I had a hiatal hernia repair done as well. Didn't know it was there but glad the surgeon found it and fixed it. I had an easy time in the hospital but had a few issues at home. Nausea, diarrhea, and getting the fluids down was a bear but it all seems to be working itself out. Reading…

1 month post op!!
today marks 1 month for me! I'm down 20lbs, I'm up to walking 1.5 miles every morning (I'm gonna start taking one day off per week to add in aerobics), and I'm back to work. Work is HARD! I used to be able to get by with 3-4 hrs sleep and jump in head first in the morning. Now my morning routine is about 2 hrs, and I need…

Weight Loss One Month Post Op
Hello All, I am being sleeved in one week! I'm excited and nervous. I wanted to know from all of you who have had surgery already: how much weight did you lose in the first month after surgery? Also, how much did you lose month 2 post op? I know everyone is different and each person loses differently! I am looking for an…

Sleeve or By-Pass?
I thought for sure I wanted sleeve but after meeting with the "team" I am now questioning whether I should go with by-pass. A few things I'm hung up on: 1. They say that if you get heartburn you should NOT get the sleeve. I don't have heartburn myself (2 times when I was pregnant 15 years ago), but everyone else in my…

Sleeve - Postpartum
Good morning, My name is Victoria. I was sleeved back in June of 2012. At my best weight loss, I lost 166 pounds. I am currently at a net loss of 130 pounds. I gave birth to my son at the end of October; I would like to lose 30 pounds total. I gained about 10-15 pounds before I got pregnant, and I have 15 to lose to get me…

Week 4: still bloated, gassy, miserable.
Title says it all. I feel like utter crap, and nothing my nutritionist is suggesting is working, so I'm turning to you all for advice. I'm not tolerating any of the protein shakes or powders (I've tried milk based, whey, whey isolate, soy and egg based with no success). I've even tried a few days recently with no…

Soooo sleepy
ok. I understand that I am going to have some challenges with fatigue, but around 630pm my body and mind just give up. By the time 9pm hits most nights, I may as well be drunk. Did anyone else have this level of fatigue at 3 weeks post op? If so, how long does it last? I wish my dietician would discuss calories with me.…

When did you progress to soft but solid food after surgery?
I had surgery 2 weeks ago today. I do not like protein shakes, and I despise yogurt, but that is what i have been eating, since that is what is allowed :) . I was thinking that tomorrow at my 2 week appt, I would get the green light for soft/pureed foods, but a friend with the same Dr. told me she did not get that green…

Eating around my pouch
Today I caught myself eating around my pouch. Eating, waiting, eating more. I fear it's becoming a proble. Once you derail a bit, what are your strategies for getting back and staying on track? My will power seems to be lacking lately. Yet I'm so scared of failing. My 'you've got to live/enjoy food in moderation'…

Spouses
id love to see how other families are handling the life style changes. My husband is a large man, but he didn't choose to take this journey with me. He is supportive and helpful, but I can tell that he is holding back. From the bit that he'll discuss, it seems that he is very scared that he'll be pressured into dieting. I…

I started my weight loss journey last January (2015) with a high weight of 251.2lbs. Before RNY I was down to 236.7 and my current…

Weigh-Ins
I'm 8 months VSG post-op and everything has gone fairly well. No major medical issues or worries have arisen. So I'm trying to focus on eating healthy and exercising regularly, rather than that number on the scale. When I asked "normal" size people how often or when was last time they weighed I get answers like "I don't…

Different Treatment?
I know this has been brought up before, but this topic always intrigues me. How have you been treated differently since you have lost weight? For me - * People look me in the eye when they talk to me. * Strangers smile and say hello. * Men hit on me. * I get treated better in stores when I go shopping. * I get treated…

Great illustration as to why you shouldn't drink with meals
This was posted on my surgeon's FB page and I thought was a good explanation for anyone who is wondering why you can't drink with your meals post-op. So simple, yet eye opening as a good reminder to me at 8mo post op. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xR0VM3mnsgM&feature=player_embedded

I got my surgery date. :)
I received my surgery date, less than a month away. I am getting the sleeve done. The only other surgery I ever had was getting my tonsils out at 4... So, I have no idea what to expect. I'm scared, and nervous and super excited all at once. They talk about the hair loss & that your tastes for foods will actually change...…
