Light headedness
Weird question. My husband is just over a month post-op, he's down a total of 57 pounds. He said he's noticed that he has started getting light headed when he stands up. BP is good. Protein intake is good. Just wondering if anyone else experienced this?

Caffeine
Hi all....I am still in pre op phase of this journey. Everything is done, just waiting for a surgery date at this point. My question is about Crystal Light....when I was seeing the nutritionist, I wrote down Crystal Light Iced Tea, and she never questioned it. I assumed it was caffiene free....I did look it up online and…

Big Hairy Audacious Goals (BHAGs)
So, I am in the corporate world, and we talk about BHAGs all the time, and I get pretty cynical about them at work. The idea is you set a goal that feels a little impossible to reach. I was thinking that, for weight-loss, this isn't a bad idea, especially as a motivation tool. Think about your weight-loss dreams and share…

Frustrating gained weight
I had lap band in 2009. Went from 400 to 240. Band began to fail. I started having digestion issues. Dr says it MUST come out. Scheduled for RNY on 10/29. Began really dieting in September beginning of September weighed 265, now weigh 269. Why? I weigh everything. Two protein shakes a day. Small snack, and decent dinner.…

Eating enough 6 mo out?
I'm 6 months out from sleeve. If I force myself to eat what feels like an uncomfortable amount, I can *occasionally* get up to 800cals/day. This really only happens when I eat sunflower seeds more than once a day. Usually I average around 600. I continue to struggle to get enough protein and physically can't unless I drink…

help a scared newbie
So last week I was cleared by my surgeon, with a tentative date for early November, as long as insurance approves. And I am scared witless at this point. The past two months have been really awful and I do not feel at all mentally prepared. After doing one of my many presurgery tests, an arterial blood gas, I passed out…

Disbelief
Does anyone else doubt they are losing weight? For example, I was sure one week that I had gained weight. After getting on the scales at the doctor's office I had lost 3 lbs. Somewhere in my head self sabotage sneaks in! Suggestions other than checking the scales for reassurance?

Home alone?
I will be having surgery on 10-28. I'll stay overnight in the hospital. I live by myself. Will I be ok alone or does someone need to stay with me a day or two? I'm really independent, but I don't want to be stupid either. I also live really far out, but my oldest son is about 5 Miles away and his wife is a registered…

Getting nervous
I'm having surgery on Monday. My exercise is not anywhere where I want it to be. Right now with activity I get short of breath and my feet, knees, hips and back hurts. Does it get easier once weight starts coming off? I can handle the pain but the shortness of breath gets me and it's like and instant defeater.

Arg! So frustrating! Not losing weight!
I am 7.5 weeks post op (sleeve). In that time I've lost 16 pounds. Two+ of those weeks on plateaus. For the last month I've averaged 1 pound loss per week. I've been very compliant with my plan. I log everything. I exercise like mad. I have been patient. But there's this voice that says, "I did this for a pound a week? I…

Protein powders and heat
On another thread several people suggested adding their protein powder/shakes to coffee in place of cream. I've read somewhere that adding hot liquid to protein breaks down the protein so I only add it to cold coffee. Has anyone else heard this or is it just another urban myth?

One Year post-Surgery
Today marks my one year anniversary of my Sleeve surgery. I had the surgery at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, with Dr. Arthur Carlin as my surgeon. My life is so much the better for the changes I made in preparation for the surgery, and the complementary effects of the surgery on my new way of eating, exercising and…

dairy issues?
I'm right under 2 weeks post op and had my first tiny cup of milk (half cup) and now my stomach seems bothered by it. Could this be a new development I'm going to have to deal with? Or is it just my new stomach getting adjusted to things other than clear liquids?

Success!!
I had my 3 month post-op appt today. I have lost 81% of my excess weight! Exactly 100 lbs down since my first appt with the bariatric center in January. 115 total since Dec. on my home scales. For those of you just starting this journey I hope this excites you about the possibilities! I had been at an unhealthy weight for…

Maintenance Blog
I ran across a blog written by an MD who specializes on weight loss. Her blog is focused on Maintenance: http://www.refusetoregain.com/ While I don't subscribe to her food recommendations (primarily Primal, low/no sugars / low carb), her choice of topics (BMI ranges, setting a goal weight, separating loss from maintenance…

Isopure "juice" drinks
If I drink the isopure ready to drink "juice-like" drinks in bottles, does that count as liquid and the 40g of protein, I assume? I'm just not certain about some of this yet.

Does anyone else have this trouble?
It's been nearly 7 mths since I had my sleeve done, and I am going great with the weight loss. So no complaints there. I'm still not complaining, as even with my problem, I'd do it again. I do however have an issue that I'm hoping others may be able to shed some light on. I've talked to the Dr/Nurse/Dietican about this,…

Struggling
I have started my 2 week shake diet. I am supposed to drink 5 protein shakes a day. It's been a struggle because of working night shift. My lack of intact is making me so tired at work. Any suggestions? Also what is your favorite flavor to add to your shakes? I'm tired of just plain vanilla or plain chocolate.
