  • Oh just for added fun: I have a teenage daughter with a mild metabolic disorder who needs to eat 3000 calories a day! So I'm trying to watch my consumption while throwing food at her all day! Life is so not fair. LOL
  • Hey everyone. I am 52. Happily married and have two teenage daughters still with me. I raised my niece who now lives in Japan and gave me a granddaughter! Two years ago I was only about maybe ten lbs over when I had a "cardiac incident". I had elevated enzymes etc but they hemed and hawed over calling it a heart attack.…
  • I recently purchased a car. Now I get nothing but car ads. Hello I just bought one why would I be looking still? I bought a set of Tile finders. More ads for something I already bought..... I think I'll browse the big and tall men's stores for a bit. That was a good idea!
  • I only use it as a goose for my motivation. If every day were like today as in keep it up! I was planning on losing a pound a week but strength training meant I plateaued for a month before it started back down again. Shrug.
  • Since this app does not give strength calories I don't eat any extra calories for Those work outs. I mentally considered them to be extra burn calories. Should I be upping my intake when I do a high intensity work out or just packing my calories with protein?
  • I'm saddened to see someone saying walking is not good exercise. It's great exercise!! I walk at a 3.5 mph rate on a very varied route at home or on an uphill on the treadmill. It does not burn calories as quickly as running. But, it vastly improved my cardio fitness. I aim to maintain my pace and worked to be able to that…
  • Funny mine goes the other way! No good answer. :/
  • I have exercise induced asthma and a heart condition. No one can tell you what is right for you but a doctor and a true qualified physical therapist. I got full clearances on what I could and could not do. Then I joined a high end gym that had physical therapists and trainers that were trained in medical issues. They wrote…
  • How do you do with supplements? Protein bars or drinks like ensure?
  • In order to not give in to the craving for treats but not feel SO deprived I have a reward system. Doesn't work for everyone, but I get two Cheat days a month. If I don't keep up my exercise level I lose a cheat day. And on cheat days I don't go nuts (usually). But I feel better if I say I can't have that treat today but I…
  • No I was 124 when I decided to get serious about it and had already lost 4 lbs by time I met with the trainer. I lost 8 more since then. I was frustrated that I had lost so little. But she assured me I was gaining muscle.
  • You're right sjjohnson! My BMI went from 26 to 20. I'm pretty small to start with so hat small a weight loss is a big percentage. I started at 124. I was 120 when I met with this trainer.
  • Thanks guys! Since the scale was barely Moving it was reassuring to know I had lost more than I had realized. She said I lost 13 lbs of fat and gained muscle! Exactly when I really needed a boost to keep up my new lifestyle.

  • I'm here. Starting to wonder though. I'm seeing lots of disordered eating discussions. On MFP in general not from older folks. Does this app ever tell you you're at a good weight switch to maintenance?
  • Thank you for all of the replies. Gym bunny hit closest to where I am. I have had help in the past so I know what the issue is but it is tearing it's head again as old age and the weight gain messed with my image. I am just over 50 and the changes in my body became very pronounced with menopause. I lift, I do cardio and…
  • And sorry the title auto corrected as I posted. Grr
  • Way too much bread in there! Weird plan. Glad you didn't pay for that.
  • Babies love to help you exercise!! If you can take a mommy and me to get tips but if you can't lift him/her high in the air from floor way up until they get tired of it. This will be long past you getting tired! Stand straight and turn holding baby straight out from your body twist left and right. Baby is a weight that…
  • So would you show off those and ona beach? I'm proud of my abs but embarrassed by my loose skin.
  • As hard as it gets sometimes I keep reminding myself that it is just today I have to be good. I don't have to give up goodies forever just today! I gained so much weight in grad school between stress eating and boredom eating while writing papers and studying! Ugh. Now instead of heading for the fridge I do exercises!…
  • I do cardio for calories and weight for fitness and health. Since the program doesn't give me calories for that I figure their are freebies. Extra calories off most days that cover me if I have an over day! It's all about being more fit, right?
  • My fitness pal says it is too hard to calculate. I know when I do a TRX class I am burning major calories but I just put them in my mental piggy bank for those days I go over my calorie count. What matters most is results: the scale, the fit feeling and the mirror!
  • Thanks guys! I was just frustrated that that one was so easy to find and it had been entered incorrectly a bunch of times! I also found one super fattening food listed as -1 calorie !!
  • Thanks for the answers! That's sort of what I thought it was. I also tend to hydrate more on days like that so more water in.... My overall trend continues downward and I now weigh myself every couple of days rather than every day.
  • Hey nerd herders! Massive dr who fan, was also Star Fleet way back in the day! And also a teacher! Looks like friends could be made!
