  • I love tomato soup (bisque is even better) and have some on hand. I'll try that out. Thank you Nickssweetheart!
  • Is there one that tastes like coffee? :D I will check out teas. We have a nice tea thingy with a basket strainer for the leaves I think. Somewhere...
  • When I tried this couple's videos a few years ago (the last time I tried to lose weight/get in shape), I found them to be very easy to follow. I am not talented in this area at all, but their videos helped.
  • Duh! See! Lack of caffeine is making me daft!!! Seriously, I'm looking for through out the day too as I hope to reduce my coffee to a couple cups in the morning. If my evening experience holds true, this will cause me to be hungrier during the day. I am drinking more water and it does help. Ice cold water for me. Chamomile…
  • This. If you buy your meat from a real butcher instead of the grocery store, all that stuff you are worried about is absent. You'll still have the "red meat is bad" and other beliefs to contend with, which is up to you to believe or dismiss. I believe in the mantra of all things in moderation. Lack of moderation has gotten…
  • Thanks to everyone's response. I appreciate it. I got this.
  • 60 lbs to go
  • Thanks cwolfman13. Yeah, I was just playing around with the MFP settings. I think I am going to turn it off. I am currently in a state of pain and fatigue, and high intensity exercise just is not a reality today. As the temp drops here in AZ though, I feel like walking can be a very good option to get moving and start…
  • Thanks jemhh. She is as accommodating as she can be. We both work and take care of the kids and life, so I'd like to not make her life any more difficult because of something I want to do. I like your idea of setting up the recipes in food entries on MFP. We are creatures of habit.
  • thanks!
  • Yeah, I get that. I have to get rid of things I don't want to eat because at times I apparently have no self control or memory. Shaq used to suck at free throws so bad that the opposing teams would foul him on purpose because they knew he would score less on the free throw line than taking it to the hoop. In addition to…
  • Yeah, but how to keep it adjusted? I can't seem to figure that one out.
  • Maybe stock up on healthy low calorie snacking stuff and hide (or toss) high calorie snack foods? I'm not an expert, but I do have this problem myself. I am just now refocusing on losing weight after allowing myself to be distracted for many months. Many nights I find myself staying up late because I can't sleep from…
  • How long did it take you to grow it?
  • This happens to me a lot as well. I like it because I have associated that hunger feeling with success. I know, weird. I get up and drink a large glass of ice lemon water and then go back to bed. No science here, but it works for me.
  • Congrats! Navy vet here. To add to the good advice above, I would include endurance in push ups, sit ups, burpees, jumping jacks, etc... Your CCs will be asking you politely to do these all the time. :) You'll do awesome! Never give up.

  • Negative motivation like disgust and anger can be great initiators of action. They worked for me. But try and shift to positive motivation like an image of how you will look and feel when you reach your goal or think about the activities you want to be able to do. Mine is rock climbing. Motivation doesn't create results of…
  • You can do it! I had a plateau myself prior to this last stretch of days, due to too many calories. I ran out of stevia and decided incorrectly that it was OK to use sugar until I went shopping several days later. I drink too much coffee for that to be a good idea.
  • Your words are very encouraging! I started around 265 a few months ago and plan to stick with it, well forever really. Although when I hit my goal, I hope to start building muscle. I started strength training, or let me say lifting with dumbbells at home, with consistency about 2 weeks ago. Is this what you mean when you…
  • Thanks! You too!
  • This! I read that article at least twice a week. I research a lot about health and there is so much conflicting information, especially in the "bro-science" areana. A lot can be discounted, especially those without citations to well formed studies. It's always good to come back to the "So you want a nice stomach" article…
  • That's actually pretty good. My understanding is max target for weight loss should be 2 lbs a week. That's is what I average on the high end. I am not consistent in my logging either. I tend to eat the same foods throughout the week and rationalize that I don't need to weigh food/log calories. I am sure I would have had…
  • I like this!
  • Don't let excuses or rationalization interrupt my plan for food or exercise.
  • This. One of the biggest, if not the biggest surprise I had when I started counting calories was the expense of nuts. I guess I thought they were magically low on calories because they were good protein sources. I know, stupid. I would eat whole bags of wasabi almonds thinking how healthy I was being. Now I know, and it…
  • I absolutely agree. I took some contrary feedback from this thread and used it to increase (and change) my understanding. It would be great if some people that have good information to spare wouldn't sprinkle it with derogatory comments, but that seems to be the nature of public forums. I take the good stuff no matter…
  • psulemon No, I did not know protein spiked insulin, but I did know about insulin contributing to the fullness feeling, along with leptin. I'll read that article today. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE good bread. The tastes and the amazing ability to hold delicious foods in the form of a sandwich or hamburger. I just choose to…
  • It's a famous line from a famous movie followed by a smiley to indicate humor... Your avatar picture shows you have great results and you are someone I would listen too, especially if you came from an overweight place like me.
