Congrats on hitting goal and maintaining below! I'd keep it simple, take a weekend and go back to protein shakes and fluids. Then on Monday, do a salad with protein for lunch and dinner, shake for the other meal/snack. Maybe add an extra bottle of water in a day. If you've been in maintenance a while, it shouldn't take…

If it's something you are really craving, try postponing it until later in the day and save calories for it or budget it into your calories for tomorrow. This way you can have a little without blowing your calories or feeling guilty. Plus, it helps self control if you can wait it out a bit, and you may find you didn't want…

I've actually had people comment (in restraunts) about the "fat lady eating a salad- too late for her now." When this happens, I tell them what I think ie: none of their effing business, they are not paying my way/ticket, eff off. Other than that, I occasionally think about it, mainly when it's a booth or cramped sitting…

I've always been big, from kindergarten on up. Vegetables were expensive to buy for a low income family and something my mom couldn't eat and my dad wouldn't.. I was not taught portion control until my nutrition class while getting my RN. Shocker there! I watched my mother try and try for years to lose weight, then she was…

I log in blocks: 12a-8a, 8a-3p, 3p-12a This way it doesn't matter what shift I work or when I eat (not unusual to get up and make dinner at 3am in my house), it is logged the same. This especially works well when I work a night shift and stay up all day afterwards. Some days are over, some under- it all evens out in the…

Dear Food, The mind hunger for you is excruciating sometimes. All consuming, even waking me in the night (or day as it may be) from sleep. I'm learning to see past those cravings though, slowly. Listening to my stomach instead of the visions of milkshakes and cookies and pasta dancing in my head. Learning that presentation…

Had a horrible week, been craving pizza ALL week. Ordered Friday evening after arguing with the husband all day and of course went over calories. At one point after dinner, in an a****** rant I heard from the living room "Maybe if you'd get off your fat a** and exercise instead of ordering pizza... blahblahblah and quit…

Dear Food, There is just SO MUCH of you. Your filling veggies, your juicy steaks and tender chickens. Your oozing, overflowing pizzas, sweet candies and your tempting fruits. I am over-whelmed at the grocery stores, unable to decide on what to get. EVERYTHING looks SO good. Alas then, as I'm sitting at work, trapped for 16…

I do eve/night doubles on weekends and found that bringing my own food and leaving the cash/change at home is the only way I can stay on track. I pre-log my food before I leave the house and log midnight to midnight in 8 hour blocks (12a-8, 8a-3, 3p-12) instead of BLD & Snacks. I can't always depend on an uninterrupted…

I've been a RN for 10 years now. I've always been heavy, even as a child. My last semester of nursing school I started dieting and going to the gym for 3-4 hrs a day and managed to drop from 280 down to 200 in about 6 months time. I maintained this for about a year and then life happened. I got married, had miscarriages,…

I work in Corrections so it's scrub pants and either a scrub top or a DOC t-shirt. We can have any color except white, all orange or all grey for obvious reasons. I can't wait to be able to order smaller shirts!

It's incredibly hard to make the commitment to yourself to come first. I have had the same problem. I've lost 6 pregnancies and then my husband started having major health issues... I just let myself go. I am truly sorry for your losses and hope you can find it in yourself to focus on you- it truly helps. Best of luck, one…

I've still got 180ish to lose, sitting around 320 right now (haven't weighed in a while what with all the holiday fixin's :# ) I had originally set myself for 10lbs a month but that's a little steep and been unobtainable it seems. SO.. 6-8 lbs and looking at inches is where I will set myself for the new year. I've pretty…

Unfortunately when you are only putting liquids in, there is nothing to take form on the other end. Also, there is nothing to soak in the bile and stomach acid to help neutralize it.. plus the sheer volume of liquid irritates things on that end. Baby wipes, zinc or A&D ointment and witch hazel wipes are about the best you…

I think everyone is different in how their body reacts to weight loss and where you carry the weight. Some people also take more time for the skin to tighten back up, months to years after being at maintenance. Great job on the loss!

Also adding bacon to the burger grind makes a nice change for grillers!

My husband loves taking the tougher cuts of venison and tossing it in the crock pot with onion soup mix and some beef boulion cubes. It comes out tender and with a nice flavor to it, great for sandwiches or just with veggies on the side. So far, crock potting and oven bags with lots of spice seem to take care of the…

I found a big discrepancy in measuring with measuring cups (even one brand to another) vs food scale amounts.. and was surprised at how much overeating I was doing because of it. TBH I bought a food scale on a whim, just to see and have been using it since. It's no more or less "inconvenient" than cups and much more…

I lost about 50lbs my last semester of nursing school by doing meal replacement shakes and working out 2-3hrs 3x weekly plus working part time... needless to say that was 10 years ago and a lot easier! lol Fast forward 10 years and I slowly put all that weight and then some (had lost another 50lbs after nursing school)…

I'm in a similar situation, starting weight was 351, down to 322 right now. Still have 180ish to go. 5'8" These are things that have helped me so far: Quit drinking regular soda, limit 20oz diet soda/day - preferably less. Drink at least 8 cups of water daily (I use the crystal light off brand flavors) Try to limit…

I got snatched by the Brach's Candy Corn on sale for $.25 for a large bag the day after Halloween.. I bought 2. I finally had to fess up to the husband yesterday that yes, there had been 2 bags and I ate all but... maybe 2 servings of them. :#

The larger pumpkins work really well if you puree them or use a potato masher on them once they've been boiled. Obviously the masher will leave some lumps but it all goes ok in breads, soups, muffins.. pie is better with the puree. You can also freeze the extra!

Though I know it doesn't help in the least bit, I am sorry for your loss. I've had 6 miscarriages and each one is a different experience, so I will not say I know how you are feeling either. Positive things to focus on: a loving husband, existing children or pets if there are any, a roof over your head. They may not seem…

My husband is VERY supportive of my losing weight. He is willing to try nearly any new recipe I find and make, even if it's just a bite. He is mindful of where we go to eat out, and always asks "if you have the calories for it" before hand so he's not tempting me with something I can't afford. The biggest pitfall is his…

From my husband : "Honey, I've been checking out your figure so much lately from all the changes you're making that I didn't notice when you started getting gray hair! There's 6 of them already!!" Sooo... when I hit my next mini goal, I think the reward will be a box of dye lmao

Try a dose of milk of magnesia with warm prune juice, heat the juice and mix in the MOM then drink 16oz water afterward. If that doesn't help and you still don't go to the ER, maybe try a fleets enema. It sounds like you may have a hard stool "plug" as such that needs help from the bottom end. If that doesn't help you…

Dx: Pre-diabetes in June. Started Metformin 500mg twice daily. Was already on Chromium twice daily. Have PCOS, WAY over-weight (180+ lbs over) but no high cholesterol, high BP or other issues. In the past I had been on Metformin and had terrible nausea, abd cramps and constant diarrhea, so I was expecting the worst when I…

Everyone knows healthcare workers are the WORST patients, my nurse-self included. Same boat you are except add 100lbs to your 80ish. :# It's just too easy to get caught up in taking care of everyone else... but we can do both. I'm down 27lbs since May, 17 of that since I started sticking to MFP calorie goals and lifting 8…

Drink lots of water before your dinners. Take small portions of everything so you don't feel like you're missing out on a specific goodie. Have seconds or leftovers... log it all and enjoy. Eat at maintenance for those days or the week of each.. then back to the grind when it's all over.

I know the feeling. I lost a good friend/colleague yesterday unexpectedly and granny sent a "sorry for your loss" basket: chocolate cake with cream cheese icing, home-made sugar cookies and since she knows I'm watching what I eat, diet Mt Dew lol. Needless to say there's nothing left... but I got up this morning and had…
