52 yr old female, 5' 6" SW 168 Oct 2016 CW 138 (30 lbs lost so far! 20 in first 2 months, then just 10lbs over the next 6 months, same WoE) GW 128

Lots of others have commented, and they know a lot more about this than me. But I agree with Sunny Bunny about swapping some of the carbs for protein or even fats. If I increase my carbs, I get hungrier. At your levels, I'd be hungry all the time.

HI there. Sorry I've just seen your post. I occasionally search for new lipedema posts on here and am always surprised at how few there are. I don't know how far you've come in the last month but I can say for certain that more people with lipedema find success with a ketogenic diet than any other. Look up this facebook…

Well done for still going slowly downwards @retirehappy. Only ten to go is great! I'm barely losing weight at all now, but at least the 2 lbs off & 2 lbs on I moaned about 7 weeks ago back in Feb now seems to be gone for good. But I must thank you for bumping the thread because it made me check my 'reports' for…

Hi hmikkola92. I think a 5lb is a very, very good start. My DH lost nothing till week three, then steadily since then. Everyone's body is slightly different. I gave him the same advice about fat surrounding internal organs going first, which is a really good thing, but it doesn't weigh as much as the external stuff. Do…

I had 5 years of seeing no change, regardless of which diet I tried. Even fasting for 2 days at a time. No change. 5 Years. I didn't overeat. If I put on 1 lb, it remained, regardless. So after 5 years I'd gained 40 lbs. I went through some hormonal changes which played havoc with my metabolism and I was convinced I could…

Hi Ray, I think you're from the UK? This is one of the only premixed packaged things I buy, but it has no junk in it and it hits the spot, cereal wise. On it's own a 30g portion (2 carbs) is just a very small bowlful, great with unsweetened almond milk. But better still, soak two tablespoons of chia seeds the night before…

According to this article, you just need to start marinading the fresh pork first in an apple cider vinegar solution (I couldn't see what else was in it). It's a tiiiiny study, but no harm in trying it out to see if you see a difference.

Just sometimes - maybe once a week - I'm feel a bit like I want/need something high fibre. Chia seeds are always on the soak in our house so it's a bit of that with my favourite ground flaxseed concoction on the top, a few berries or nuts and some cream and it's a great pudding that reminds me of eating cereal!

That's hilarious!

Umm. I think it's a different versions of English problem. Pickles in the US refer to pickled cucumbers, sometimes sliced, sometimes not- usually in a salt water-vinegar- spice solution. Pickles in the UK and Australia (maybe also NZ) refer to a mixed vegetable, chopped, cooked product in a sauce of generous sugar,…

Celery - yes! Cucumber is nice too. I've even been known to steal two thin slices of my kid's apple, blob some almond butter in between and squidge it into a little 'sandwich'. If it's thin enough, it's about 2 carbs (I'm so boring I weigh everything).

HI Jenny, welcome. Regarding the headaches, look at the launchpad for electrolytes. You need to keep an eye on sodium in particular. Good luck with the next stage of your keto journey.

8 years ago I told an almost stranger (I saw her every week outside DDs ballet, but didn't know her at all) that she really needed to buy some new jeans cause she'd lost loads of weight but obviously didn't realise how much. A few months ago I met her again, she thanked me again and said it lifted her out of a slump!

Snacks? Quick ones: A nut and cheese combo ( only need a few to feel full)- faves are walnut on a small cube of cheddar, pecans dipped in cream cheese. Celery or cucumber spread with almond butter or cream cheese. 1/4 of an egg with mayo. A tablespoon or two of a toasted seed mix: sunflower and pumpkin, for something sweet…

That's okay. I've got 15 lbs to go as well. I'll loan you my stall if you like, you know, just till you're not scared anymore.

I do drink the occasional diet coke, usually when I'm out. I don't find it has the craving effect on me now, however when I was having eating high carb it definitely did. Now, I've noticed it causes slight inflammation (feet swell). Inflammation was a huge thing for me pre-keto so I really notice it when it occurs now that…

You're English. You're a man. Splash out on an amazing Paul Smith shirt. You'll never regret it.

Remember me - the one who is 7 weeks into a weight loss stall? I think I'm going to cry. I now have a waist size, in inches, in the 20's. 29 to be precise. The first time since.....I have no idea. I was too scared to take measurements for at least 5 years before keto. Now if my thighs would just co-operate...

Welcome back. Friends are where it's at. I understand completely what you say about meat. I like it, but not as much as I like a wide variety of fruit and veg. TBH my brain still doesn't compute 'BAD FOR ME' when I see a big pile of mixed veg that didn't grow under the ground. I'm not sure if it ever will. If it did, that…

Hi Lois, I'm in England too. Most of our packaging is net carbs, with the fiber already subtracted in line with the rest of Europe. If you're using MFP on a phone, use the barcode scanner after you click'+ food' in your diary, adjust serving size and you're done. If you're using it on a pc/mac, type in 'Tesco',…

I'm good at measuring! 25 lbs down but with 10-15 lbs to go and 6 weeks into the same weight (+ or - 1 lb) every day is a bit frustrating. Trying IF now on the 18:6 scale to see if that helps, 3 x week. I think the above poster is absolutely right about sleep. With releasing so much fat (and its component hormones) into…

If this is about interest in food, as opposed to interest in you eating food, it will definitely come back. I was a foodie before, seeking out great restaurants and chefs and incredible food combinations. After I got past the food ambivalence stage (about 3 weeks for me) I'm now still a foodie, seeking out ways of working…

I know this does nothing to address your question (the OPs above have done that) but KEEP WALKING WITH YOUR MOM. The benefit you'll get from being together, in the long, long run is priceless. Lost my mom 2 years ago, would love to walk with her now.

Walnut oil and lemon on salad is the best! If you find it too strong, go half&half with olive oil. Drizzle it over and avocado and it's amazing.

I always aim for 20, never above 25. Still holding fast after 5 weeks, up a pound, down a pound. Grrrrr.

I have a 13 y.o. athlete who is very small for her age. Always ate healthily at home and naturally low-carb, maybe 1 slice of bread a day, a little pasta, hates potatoes. Eats an egg & bacon breakfast most days. Just today! I found a way of getting some coconut oil into her system in the morning to get her brain going -…

@Sunny_Bunny_ has all the details here. I, too, suffer from inflammation and swelling. It's getting much better with this WoE. It feels counter-intuitive, (if you're like me in the carb-heavy days I used to be able to measure my salt intake by the degree of swollen hands in the morning) but trust us, what she says is…

Wow. You certainly know where you're going midwesterner85! Hope the race prep goes well and you reach your short term goal. I'm 15 lbs away from my GW and have been running the macros again today after a month long plateau. I tried a new macro calculator and upped protein (a lot) and dropped some fat% for three weeks, but…

RE: ketogains.com calculator I've been wanting to redo my macros for a while now (loss slowed over the last month, a lot) and this calculator shows something very interesting. I'm within 15 lbs of my GW and based on 20% deficit, sedentary and it's saying 8% carbs 25 g 31% protein 94g 61% fat 82g Don't really mind slightly…
