I love this post so much! I have wanted to do a sprint tri for a long time, and I can barely swim and am a slow runner. I have also wanted to through-hike the AT for many years. We're about the same size, too. And yes, I was always picked next to last in gym class. Definitely not an athlete, but I won't give up. Super…

Wow! You lost a whole person!

Back from vacation, but having a hard time getting back into the swing of things. I want a diet break, and I've taken about 3 weeks off, more or less. But then I remembered this challenge, and how there are only two weeks left. Perhaps I could find it in me to pull it together for these last two weeks. I'm at about 183, so…

I remember Olestra, though I never had the privilege of trying it. It does remind me of the customer reviews on Amazon for Haribo sugar-free gummy bears. If you have ten minutes, a box of tissues, and no recent abdominal surgery, I highly recommend reading through them.

I hate the recipe builder. I usually have to go through and change 90% of the entries on imported recipes. Why does the entry for one clove of garlic have 1,437 calories? And why does it replace "onion" with "French onion soup with slice of baguette Sodexo campus" or some such nonsense. My salt always gets changed to…

Avocado!

Mm...frosting! Actually, that's what we'd use it for--frosting brownies and filling chocolate layer cakes. Also great spread on the inside of a crescent roll before rolling and baking.

Excellent work! I'm also 5'9", so it's nice to see progress photos with numbers so I can get a feel for how I might look. You look fantastic!

"Fat free" oil cooking spray, margarine with hydrogenated vegetable oil labeled "trans fat free", and recently, a jar of Peter Pan brand Simply Ground peanut butter with a boatload of ingredients beyond simply peanuts and salt. Oh, and a package of Kraft Natural reduced fat cheese with artificial food coloring. I love…

Local for sure. We had a Krispy Kreme and they were good fresh, but didn't hold a candle to Long's Donuts in Indianapolis. But donuts are my kryptonite, so I avoid them.

The Happy Herbivore MFP group has a pinned thread for recipes. I get a lot of meal ideas from the web, and I can't say enough about Lindsay Nixon's cookbooks. As for my experience, my macros are around 80/10/10, definitely carb heavy, but I've been losing 2lbs a week steadily since the beginning of February eating…

@Sixlees Thanks for all the words of encouragement!

I'm down 8.4 pounds and a pants size, too, I think. Pretty happy with that!

I've lost weight and gained it back so many times. I've been working on figuring out why and developing a maintenance plan. I used to binge eat and never thought of calorie allotments as finite. When I was young, I was tall & skinny and ate tons of food. I carried those eating habits with me as I grew older and sedentary.…

Sorry to hear you got the rug pulled out from under you again. Best wishes on your journey toward health!

Sounds like you ladies are making great progress! Keep it up! You're doing great!!!

A lady at church ran up to me and asked, "What program are you using?" I looked at her quizzically, and she said, "Exercise program, to lose weight. Because you're looking great." So I told her I dusted off my P90X3 program and log on MFP. Even though I was covered in puke (my kid got threw up on my at the end of church),…

Congratulations on your progress! 53 pounds lost is a great achievement!

So inspiring! You are beautiful, before and after.

You are doing amazing work! Keep at it. I look forward to your updates!

How close to goal are you? I'd say give it a try, and if, after 2-4 weeks, it doesn't work, you could always switch back. The lack of weight loss could be due to muscles retaining water for repairs since you just added in weight training. A couple of inches lost in 3 weeks sounds like really good progress. Keep up the hard…

I was checking out after a physical at the doctor's office. The medical assistant was rattling off my diagnoses to a receptionist for my next blood work panel. It was then I realized that I was only one diagnosis away from full-blown metabolic syndrome. I knew that nearly all these problems were related to lifestyle. As an…

Refried beans are very filling for me. A spoonful of peanut butter is great, too.

Sorry, I need to make a small correction. My A1C was 5.9, not 5.7.

I went opposite everyone else. Last August, I had a fasting BG of 107, my insulin was up around 11 or 12, and my A1C was 5.7. I also had awful cholesterol numbers and hypothyroidism. I did not want to take the $$$ statin they were going to prescribe. I chose to eat a whole-food plant-based diet, focusing mostly on green…

Week 9, it looks like, so we're a little more than halfway through.

I bought new workout clothes when I hit Onederland. I have quite a way to go before I reach my goal, so my rewards will largely be thrift store excursions as my clothes get insufferably baggy.
