  • Protein!! Nuts, cheese, hummus, etc. Sugary doesn't work for me...quick rise and big drop in blood sugar. I find the protein lasts longer.
  • Weight fluctuates due to many different variables. As long as you are continuing your program (weighing your food, keeping track of macros, etc) it will continue. Don't stress it. Also, you might do a check in again, as you lose weight, you need to adjust your calorie intake as you need fewer calories. I have lost 86…
  • To me the bottom line is simply...you have to find what works best for you! I know that if I forbid or totally ban some foods, I will eventually give up. But by figuring out how to include them in a healthy diet, I have lost 85 pounds and am continuing to work at it. I'm at the stage now where it is coming off very slowly…
  • I know this is tough and once you have committed you would like to lose more and faster. However, 5 lbs a week is totally unrealistic, even for someone younger and taller. 7 lbs in 2 months is great!!! However, don't make your diet so unrealistic that you become discouraged and can't stick to it for the rest of your life.…
  • If I have exercised a lot, I'm hungrier and so I do eat about half back. If it is just an average day, I might eat back about 10 percent. If I know I have a day coming up where I want some extra space I'll not eat any of them. I tend to look at my calories as over a week than just one day. This lets me have more…
  • Moved from obese to "overweight"! When I started this journey in March 2016, I was morbidly obese...good feeling. Also, have run out of clothes...gotta hit the Goodwill.
  • I find that it is necessary and helpful...I didn't get to over 200 pounds by being aware of how much I was eating, despite eating "healthy." So far I have lost 75 pounds and I attribute it to weighing, measuring and logging religiously. It takes just a few minutes and helps me stay on track. I plan to continue this much of…
  • March 2016 December 2016
  • My wrinkles are much more noticeable now that my face is not so round and wide. However, I think I've earned them and much prefer my more slender face. Has taken a while to get here though.
  • After all the serious discussion...a couple of much lighter items! 1. That shopping is so much fun (and kinda expensive!). 2. That after going down 60+ pounds, even my gloves are too big. and the more serious one, 3. That so many people in my life are so supportive of my journey...and how lucky I am that is true for me…
  • For me, it was a a diabetes and RA diagnosis, combined with being the highest weight I'd ever been. I started at 250 in March 2016, now I'm down 63 pounds. I've developed some additional health issues, not weight related...cancer. However, I am convinced that being healthier, under 190, has helped me fight this latest…
  • Diet Coke...also Fresca. I've been drinking diet pop my entire adult life...and I gained weight while drinking it; but now I have lost 63 pounds while doing the very same thing. Guessing it was all those extra food calories were the cause!!!
  • I ran into a former coworker at a district meeting this week, talked to her for 5 minutes and ten we want down. During a break in the meeting later she came up to me and said she didn't recognize me because I was so tiny! Hardly tint, but down 60+ pounds. I sometimes forget that I look different to people who have not seen…
  • I have also found that chewing sugar free gum after eating also helps with just grabbing food. It has the same effect as brushing my teeth.
  • 5'4''; 60 years young....goal weight is 130...my starting weight was 251. After 6 months...I'm at 190...halfway there!!!
  • I think we are getting dangerously close to a "nanny" society. Yes, in some instances alcohol is a problem and for some people a danger; however, at what point do we allow fee choice in our homes and in private life. To take it one step further...I have a weight issue, because of my own food choices, should someone else…
  • I am 60, diagnosed diabetic and have lost over 50 pounds in 6 months just by carefully weighing and measuring my food. I am very concious of CICO at all times. I really have not changed my diet that much. I have monitored carbs and am eating more veggies, but not eliminating anything outright. I would worry about narrowing…
  • I would aim for around 64oz per day and see what happens. Also, start tracking your sodium and look for low sodium substitutes.
  • I'm guessing water retention as much of what you say you are eating is very high in sodium. If that is the case, drink more water and it will eventually start moving.
  • Loved this!! I don't comment often because I don't like to get pulled into some of the BS threads, seems like common sense sometimes gets lost when we try to make excuses for why we aren't losing or when we look for the easy way out. I have learned during my 6 months and 50 pound loss here, that it can be as easy or as…
  • To be below 200 lbs by October 1...201 today. Then be 180 by January 1st! 50 lbs gone today!!!
  • I can't buy clothes in the big girl department any more!! Down side...spending way too much money on new things these days!!!
  • Wow...a lot!!! Just being aware and making small steps helps! I too am working through some similar obstacles...stage III melanoma with immunotherapy, RA and diabetes. Sometimes a struggle, but I make it my goal to move as much as possible every day and to eat as healthy as possible. I also recommend that you talk with a…
  • I also have Type 2, I have found that carbs have a greater effect on my blood sugar than sugar does. So I am more careful with those numbers. Also, losing weight and regular exercise has really helped. I maintain "normal" numbers now, but I do have to monitor a little closer to keep from going too low. Diet and food advise…
  • Going to the theater and actually fitting into the seat without encroaching in my neighbor's space! It actually felt comfortable! And getting to buy a large t-shirt, because even the XL was too big!!
  • Getting below 200...207 this morning!
  • I bought a very small pan that I can use to fry 1 egg, just the right size for the muffin!
  • Anything you do in life is as possible or impossible as you make it! I have lost 44 pounds by logging faithfully and using common sense. If I go out, I try to eat what I know is a lower calorie alternative, but if I want something else...I just eat less. I use the calculator that MFP has, then look at items that are…
  • I started out at 250, with a goal to lose 1lb a week. After 3 1/2 months, I've lost 38 lbs. with walking my main source of exercise. I intend to add more and different exercise as I get closer to my goal, mostly to tighten up. As long as you are losing weight, it's all good!
