@7lenny7 I’m in Memphis! My husband and I would love to meet you (and whoever you’re traveling with) for a trail run and some BBQ if you’re up for it.
-
@7lenny7 So good to see you and Cody! Two runs since last check in, both at WC Johnson. Skipped Easter’s run due to time constraints. So, Tuesday was perfect easy run weather, a little chilly for walking and that temperature where you don’t even notice the temperature while running. 5 miles running and a couple walking. It…

@katharmonic I am so with you on no tolerance for being cold and miserable! Our weather has been nuts, storms off and on all week. It seems like when it’s forecast to be stormy, it’s fine, and when it’s forecast to be fine, it storms. Last run of last week was supposed to storm, so I made other plans, then no storm, so I…

When ours was stolen it turned out to be the middleman who processes cards for gas stations. Nothing you can do about that!

Caretaking extra for my mom this week because the woman who usually helps with my mom is helping out extra with a debilitated neighbor while his wife takes a vacation. @swenson19d you talking about your husband acting out because of being gimpy reminds me of this guy. He’s the husband of my mother’s closest friend, and…

Oof, 84 degrees today, not used to this yet! We had a frost warning two days ago. We were also under a wind warning with gusts supposedly up to 50 mph, so running into the wind felt like climbing a hill! Husband says, “Did you check the gravity forecast for today? It feels a little high!” It also didn’t help him that…

Last run I had trouble with my heart rate not getting up high enough to let me run uphill. Chugged along anyway for 4 miles on trails but it was really unpleasant. These bad runs are making me disheartened, I didn’t want to get up and run today. I just needed some time outdoors without worrying about anything. So we took a…

The only things I really do over 35 are goblet squats and one armed rows. But my husband gets good use out of the higher range. Just make sure you get an adequate squat rack if you are going to be squatting alone, we don’t want you squished!

Re: dumbbells. My husband asked for the Nordic track 55 lb select a weight ones for Christmas last year and I love them. They are normally 300+ dollars but were on sale so we paid half that. They are so easy to change weights that I find myself using them for many more things and go from 5 to 55 lbs. It’s a lot more than I…

@quilteryoyo Glad they didn’t find anything serious! Hopefully the MRI will be normal too.

@kgirlhart May I suggest baby carrots as easily portable donkey treats? Easy 5k on trails yesterday. Perfect weather and we saw two deer and a barred owl, which seems to be nesting in a particular tree. It flew down and looked right at us, rare to see owls in daylight but it was already dusk and everyone but us had gone…

@skippygirlsmom @shanaber yep, that was me with the ruptured Baker’s cyst. Honestly, trying not to contradict your ortho but I would do anything to go back in time and have that sucker drained before it ruptured. Synovial fluid eats muscle tissue and it was literally six months before I was able to run properly, with my…

5 miles plus a bit on the Greenline, not much to say, perfect weather and uneventful run. Leg injury seems fine today.

I have yet to make up my mind about the 4th shot. On the one hand I am high risk and my 3rd shot was in October, on the other I have had a lupus flare from each of the previous shots, and also cases are very low here at the moment. Since the elevated antibodies from the booster drop quickly, I don’t want to waste that…

Dang buddy you don’t skip leg day! Looking good!

In for April! I don’t have a mileage goal but I’m starting to feel the need of a more concrete plan. Without racing I feel like I’m drifting. Right now my goal is to run three times a week, one on trails, one intense or fast run, and one longer run.
-
Last run for April, tempo 5k - barely had enough time to get one in because I was making friends with momma raccoon in my backyard! first time I have seen her in daylight since the babies were born. I estimate they are three weeks old now, should be just opening their eyes. The weather forecast went from perfect to a…

Still here! I took a week off everything due to my leg injury being more serious than I realized at the time - knee where I wrenched it was really sore, and spreading up into my hip. It feels better now. Conveniently I needed some time off anyway because of friends coming into town for a long weekend. We had a lovely time…

I have gained back some weight since having a heart arrhythmia in November. Just getting my meds sorted out and trying to build back my miles, which hopefully will help me get back on track. I got some new running clothes for Christmas and today was the first day with the right temperature to wear them, but I felt like the…

@swenson19d Mallory has a lot to put up with! She seems very good natured. I was reading about the accident you mentioned. Seems like just a young inexperienced driver who rolled through a stop light following another car. Terrible. My friends from high school and I are meeting up for our annual get together this weekend…

Very happy all the Texans have checked in after the tornados! I’m trying to imagine hiding in a tub with a labradoodle, sounds tricky! Short easy run on asphalt today - supposed to be a tempo run but my leg is tweaked so I’m taking it easy. Have you ever been running trails and caught a stick with one foot that spun it…

The indoor/outdoor thing sounds delightful, but having visited Florida, I am picturing lizards on the dining room table!

Epidemiologists have been wondering about Africa for a while now. There was a theory that Africa was spared because the population skews much younger and young people mostly don’t get severe Covid. But then South Africa and surrounding nations got hit hard by Omicron. But even that was less catastrophic than expected. It’s…

@kimny72 I agree about long covid not being worth the risk. There’s a theory that long covid is caused at least partly by reactivation of Epstein-Barr virus, based on blood testing of people who got long covid versus those who had covid but recovered fully being more likely to have reactivated Epstein-Barr in their blood.…

I made a long post yesterday and my internet was messing up and today it’s nowhere to be found! Oh well! @marisap2010 Congrats on your quarter marathon! @katharmonic I confess I was nervous about your half since you hadn’t been doing as much training as you hoped, but it looks like you do enough cross training that it…

@katharmonic an interventional cardiologist is one who does catheter procedures, correct? Did they find a blockage after all?
-
Yesterday was my first time returning to the Greenline since having to go to the ER after my bad run there. I felt stupid for being so nervous but I really had bad associations with the place! Everything was fine, though, and it should be easier next time. First 5 miler on roads since having heart issues, trying to only…

Just a little 5k run yesterday but overall a successful one! I was looking at my data after running and noticed that it was the fastest I had run this Strava segment since Dec 29 when I was still waiting for my cardio appointment. At that time I tried running a “normal pace” 5k and my heart did a thing in the last third of…

@kgirlhart and @Scott6255 I guess y’all’s snow came here! We got it later than forecast but I just measured my picnic table out back and there is a full 6” on the tabletop. The roads aren’t bad due to it being warm but the grass, trees, and sidewalks are fairly deep. It’s supposed to get up into the high 30’s tomorrow so…

So annoyed with the weather forecast! It said 80% chance of sleet by 3 pm so I made other plans. It’s now 4:44 and they are saying no sleet until almost 7. I could have run if the forecast had been accurate!
