Thanks @shanaber . I am feeling better this morning, but didn't sleep as much as I should have, so will see how I feel later in the day. You are doing great with your running/walking.0

Is anyone else having problems posting from your phone? I haven't been able to post from it in a couple of weeks, getting an error message. I had a whole post-race report typed up and couldn't use it! The problem with posting from my computer is that all of my pictures end up sideways, and I'm not sure how to correct it. Excuse my sideways photo below.
I started April with a 10.5K race yesterday morning. The race was mostly through a nice golf community about half an hour south of me. There were lots of nice houses with pretty flowers. I ended up placing 3rd in my age group and was middle of the pack overall. The weather was in the 40s, but I ended up getting pretty warm near the end as there were no clouds to block the sun. I stayed in the 9-minute pace range for the first 4 miles, but the end had hills, so I slowed and ended with an average pace of 10:02. I have been right around that for my last 4 races. I guess I can say I'm consistent.
Several ladies from my SRTT run group were there as well. It has been nice making a few new local running friends.
Welcome to everyone who is new!
I am not going to set a mileage goal this month since I am trying out this new training plan by heart rate zone. I expect it will be 50+, but who knows.

Signing in for Sunday here.
Goal 125
April 1 - 7.01 miles
April 2 - 4.21 cum 11.22
April 3 - 10.01 cum 21.23
Longest run in a while. I have been focused on speed for months so decided today just to do a "wander" run. It was fun but not sure I was ready for a 10 miler again. LOL. I will know better in a few days I guess. At least there were no blisters or blood. My favorite runners are no longer available of course so I have taken a chance on buying them from kicksonfire and hope they are in good shape and not knock offs.
MFP is just so strange. They fix one thing and break another. My Iphone app refuses to show any photos in the newsfeed but my samsung phone (work) shows them fine. I put in a request yesterday to the MFP help folks as I did not see this listed under the known bugs anywhere even tho it's been going on for over a week or more.8 -
5 miles plus a bit on the Greenline, not much to say, perfect weather and uneventful run. Leg injury seems fine today.9
-
My long run today called for 7 miles - 1 mile in Z1, 5.5 miles in Z2, and .5 miles in Z1. It was a slow run, but I felt good at the end...until I realized how sunburned my shoulders are! They didn't look red or feel burned for several hours, and my husband didn't notice until he left the house and came back. I have slathered on a ton of aloe, and I'll make sure to put on sunscreen next time!
April miles: 13.687 -
April Goal: 100 Miles
4/3: 10.02 miles
10.02/100 miles completed for April
I finally got out for a run in April! I took Friday as a total rest day. Well, I did do some yoga, but no running or walking. Yesterday, I took the dogs to the park and we walked a mile. Then today I ran 10 miles. It was a great run. The weather was really nice. It was a little warm towards the end, but not too bad. It was a beautiful spring morning . The dogwood and redbud trees are all bloomed out. Irises are blooming everywhere. I didn't see any bluebonnets yet. But I did see that the mesquite trees are starting to bud, so spring is definitely here. I stopped by to see Sunny the Donkey. I went close to the fence to take a picture. He seemed pretty interested in me so I tried to take a Selfie, but he wasn't very enthusiastic about that.
I really enjoyed being out running on a beautiful spring day.
@marisap2010 Congrats on a great race and placing 3rd in your AG!
8 -
Congrats on your race @marisap2010! Excellent consistent pace and way to go on the AG place. And well done on the long run today - good reminder about sunscreen.
@kgirlhart glad you had such a lovely run. good to see Sunny the donkey. I'm sure he enjoyed the selfie.
Sounds like you will have a fun experience with the Dallas Marathon @Scott6255 (as fun as a marathon can be ) and that will be a great motivating goal to have at the end of the year.
Great running everyone and love all the pictures of spring flowers.
I did not run today because it was cold with a mix of rain and snow, and I chose to sleep in and go to brunch with my boyfriend. I have said it before, but I'm officially declaring this our last snow of the season. I mean it (foot stamp).7 -
Great race @marisap2010 ! Congratulations on 3rd place in your AG! You're pace is awesome. Great long run too.
Great running @SummerSkier !
@rheddmobile An uneventful run is what you need right now! Yeah for the leg and AFib behaving.
Glad you had such a nice run @kgirlhart ! It's so nice to see Sunny...love the selfie with him. Lovely iris too. As a tidbit of trivia, they are the TN state flower.
@katharmonic I hope you are right this time.
I have an appointment with a neurologist this morning. I'll report back later today to let you know what she says.5 -
Goal 125
April 1 - 7.01 miles
April 2 - 4.21 cum 11.22
April 3 - 10.01 cum 21.23
April 4 - 4.03 cum 25.26
Good luck at the neuro today @quilteryoyo hope all is good news!
Not much to report except I was quite pleased that I was able to return for 4 miles after really extending myself yesterday with 10. My first one this year and I did a 9 miler in March so feel like I am on target for that sort of distance.
Really enjoying reading of everyone's adventures so far. Spring has got to be one of the best running seasons.7 -
4/1 – 5.41 miles
4/4 – 4.21 miles
On Saturday, I hiked 9.15 miles on the AT from Sam’s Gap to Devil’s Fork Gap. It was windy and chilly for the first three miles but as long as we were moving it was fine. Total elevation gain was 2,217 feet. At least two-thirds of the hike seemed like it was uphill but at least it was at the beginning. Sunday I went to our local park and walked 3.17 miles after lunch. This morning I did a couple of short workouts in my basement workout room and then headed out for a 4.21 mile run. It was a beautiful morning. Temp was 37F but the horizon was getting light and it wasn’t long before the sun was rising and the birds were chirping.
Congratulations on a great race and age group placement @marisap2010!

Hey guys.
Been absent since I climbed the mountain as my left calf injury flared up and I decided to stop running until it was pain free for a week. And that day was last Saturday. I went for a 5k run Saturday, then again on Monday and so far calf is behaving. A few moments of tightness but is better.
Today I started the run smart strength training someone recommended. It's pricy, really pricy, but cheaper than therapy when I can't run! Im sore!
I've also started a HM training program with hal @eleanorhawkins will appreciate that! I've missed Hal.
So my goal this month, follow the plan, strength train twice a week. And stay injury free!8 -
4/1 - 3.11 shake out for HM
4/2 - 13.22 Oak Barrel HM
16.33 of 140 miles
Hello...Dang I missed March with you all. Things have been crazy at work and personally, I've been running but just staying to myself for the most part. I'm going to do my best to catch up. I hope you are all doing awesome!
For probably close to year I've been feeling this weird thing on the back of my knee, just been ignoring it but finally decided to have it checked out because my knee and calf started to hurt. Went to ortho (who I LOVE) and he said, as I suspected, that I have a nice size baker cyst on the back of my left knee. He did x-rays and said I have arthritis in both knees probably of combo of age and a bad fall a few years back on the trails. He says the calf is being caused by pressure from the bakers cyst. So he put on his doctor hat and said "stop running, go to swimming or biking for cardio" then put his runners hat back on and said "run unless it hurts too much (see why I love him)", he said he won't drain the cyst until it's like grapefruit size or I can't walk, he said ice it if it flairs up and it most likely will go up and down in size and discomfort. I said what if it pops and leaks into my calf and he said "problem solved" LOL He cracks me up. So I've been stretching the calf extra before and after runs and it's all good.
Those who I'm friends with on Facebook know that in February I ran a HM at the Gulf Shores in AL (the state I live in), I did the Half and Skip (my daughter) did the Full, it was a great race weekend. This passed weekend we did the Oak Barrel Half Marathon in Lynchburg, TN again a great time.
What a difference in elevation, I had to laugh at all the people complaining that Gulf Shores wasn't flat (it was advertised as a flat course), like where do you people run? Our friend was the photographer at the Gulf Shores and he took this picture of Skip and I at the finish, I love it. The other of her is her AG award (3rd) from this weekend, the race is sponsored by Jack Daniels so she purchased a bottle with the race logo and her time etc on it at the distillery.

@kgirlhart - maybe Sunny was hoping you had a treat to trade for a selfie 😁 Still a great picture!
@katharmonic - I hope your snow is done now too... We are not having anymore storms to send across country so maybe that will help.
@quilteryoyo - hope you get some good info from the neurologist!
@marisap2010 - congratulations on your race and AG place!
@avidkeo - For those of us in the US the RunSmart cost seems to be about the same as other subscription workout services. I decided not to sign up for it, at least right now, since I can't do many of the exercises. I already do a lot of single leg work on my own so I could do those ok (eyes closed was tough though!). Maybe once my arm is sorted I will revisit it, it seemed like a good program.
@skippygirlsmom - love the difference in elevations and the finish line picture but you must have bought that whiskey for the SkippyGirl cause I am sure she can't be old enough to buy it herself!! Also tell her congratulations on the AG Place! Awesome running for you at both races!
Didn't @rheddmobile have an issue with a baker's cyst too a while ago?
I took Hobbes out for a short wun this morning, just over 3 miles, while it was still pretty overcast. It got warm on the way back though as the sun broke through. It is supposed to get progressively warmer each day this week topping out in the high 90's (ugh) on Thursday and Friday. Makes me wonder what summer is going to be like...
We are puppy sitting Beaux the Vizsla again for a week while his parents are traveling. Beaux is a bit over 1.5 now and is supposedly calmer but he gets very wound up being around Hobbes and having a constant playmate. He has only been here since noon, so a little over 4 hours, and Hobbes is already exhausted, sleeping in his bed next to me while Beaux takes a timeout in his crate. We still have agility class to get through and I am wondering if Hobbes will have anything left in his tank to run the courses 😁6 -
Welcome back @Avidkeo! Good practice of patience for your calf!
Good to hear from you @skippygirlsmom! You and Skip had some great races. I really like that Jack Daniels bottle with the race info on it!
Felt like poop 💩 all day. So just a slow 5 mile PT run on the treadmill.
6 -
@skippygirlsmom @shanaber yep, that was me with the ruptured Baker’s cyst. Honestly, trying not to contradict your ortho but I would do anything to go back in time and have that sucker drained before it ruptured. Synovial fluid eats muscle tissue and it was literally six months before I was able to run properly, with my leg looking like an elephant leg from the swelling, and my calf is to this day not as strong as the other one because some muscle was permanently destroyed. Some orthos are really reluctant to drain them because it’s a dangerous thing which can harm the nerves to your lower leg, so you need someone who does it often and is a specialist in that to do an ultrasound guided drain. And a nice shot of steroids into the knee capsule to put a temporary stop to the overproduction of fluid.
Also, stretching before running was how I ruptured it, so there’s that.
Anyway good to see you!2 -
In for 100!
04/02: 15.1 km
04/05: 6.2 km
Total: 21.3 km

4/1 – 5.41 miles
4/4 – 4.21 miles
4/5 – 5.37 miles
I met a friend at 5:00 am this morning for 5.37 miles. It was a pleasant 50F.
Welcome back @skippygirlsmom and @Avidkeo! I missed you last month! Congrats to you @skippysgirlsmom and Skip for the Oak Barrel HM. I had a friend run it who won first place in his age group. Too funny that anyone would complain about the Gulf Shores elevation!
@shanaber – we’re going to need updated pics of Beaux and Hobbes!
Hope you are feeling better @Scott 6255.

3 pages into the month and I'm just checking in, read some of your posts, you're all awesome. I miss you guys! I'm pretty much mentally exhausted by the time I have time to actually come on here and connect, I don't want any more information or interaction, if that makes any sense.
We still have the 6 people staying with us here in Poland. I think I've got them through all of the government office and school formalities, and we're now looking for long-term housing for them. Not as easy as it sounds.
I'm still running and cycling, Polar bear club season has officially ended, I need to get back to the pool, but it's mostly just fitting workouts in and feeling tired a lot, so not wanting to overdo it. Some weeks haven't been that far off of the training plan I had started, but mostly I can't say I'm following it. The long runs aren't happening like they should, but my priorities have been changed for the time being. No running goal this month but to keep doing it. I'll try to check in from time to time, and look forward to coming back more regularly.
Please keep Ukraine in your prayers.11 -

@Avidkeo funny, Hal has given up on me now... he refuses to comment or give me grades any more.
Thanks for tagging me, I hadn't even found the thread yet. So much to do, so little time *sigh*
No idea what my month will look like, I did something silly and signed up for a HM, albeit a nice flat one, 2 weeks after a mountain HM with a lot of hills. So, goal is just to survive hahaha.
@polskagirl01 hugs!

@SummerSkier Glad you are enjoying the longer distances.
Nice workouts and hike @Teresa502 . Pictures coming?
Glad to see you back @Avidkeo . Also glad your calf is better. Good luck with Hal.
@skippygirlsmom So glad you are back with us. I hope that cyst doesn't give you too much trouble. You did great with the races and I, too, love the finish line picture. Congrats to Skip on her awesome marathon placement. That is funny about the difference in elevation and that people were complaining that the first course wasn't flat. LOL
@shanaber I know that you are enjoying Beaux. I hope he doesn't wear Hobbes out too much.
@Scott6255 I hope you feel better tomorrow.
Nice run @Teresa502 .
@polskagirl01 You are doing great with all you have on your plate. Prayers for Ukraine and you and that you are able to find the refugees permanent housing soon.
Glad to hear from you too @eleanorhawkins .

April Goal: 100 Miles
4/3: 10.02 miles
4/5: 5.25 miles
15.27/100 miles completed for April
It was very foggy for my run this morning. The temperature was nice at 56°F, but the dew point was also 56° and the humidity was 100%. It was like running in a cloud. I could only see about a block ahead. It was a good run though and I ran 5 miles.
@shanaber You are probably right. I'll have to carry a treat with me sometime.
Good to see you back @skippygirlsmom! Congrats to Skip on her AG placement and good job to both of you on the Races.
Glad your calf is better and you are back @avidkeo.
@aine8046 Another beautiful picture!
@polksagirl01 Hugs and prayers!

4-1 = 1.00 mile walk - treadmill - doubles tennis in the morning
4-2 = 1.00 mile walk - driveway
4-3 = 2.25 mile wun on the driveway
4-4 = 2.25 mile wun on the driveway after push mowing at mom's
4-5 = 0.6 mile walk - 2.00 mile run part on driveway and part on treadmill
9.1/70 miles
I didn't realize I hadn't posted my activities for 3 days!
I was exhausted on Sunday again, so spent most of the afternoon on the couch. When I finally got up, I went out to do a wun on the driveway. I really had just planned on one mile, but it felt good and the weather was great, so I did 2.25 miles.
Monday was another nice day, weather wise. I was tired again and mowing didn't help. I did another 2.25 miles, but it was much harder than Sunday.
Today mom had an appointment and I ran some errands. I went out to run on the driveway when I got home from town. I decided to do a 5 min warm up walk and then run 20-25 minutes, which would be basically a Foundation Run according to Matt Fitzgerald. At about a half mile into the run, it started raining pretty hard and the wind was really whizzing. My driveway isn't safe in those conditions due to it being tree lined and it gets slick in spots when wet. So, I came in and finished up on the treadmill.
I got a call today that my open MRI has been scheduled for the 28th of this month in Greeneville, the closest town. I was expecting to have to drive an hour to Kingsport. Yeah.
And, I got a call with the results of my Holter Monitor. They said I have normal sinus rhythm, with very few fast heart beats. I have some bradycardia which I knew about, but think it is due to the exercise and not my heart. What they did see were quite a few episodes of PVCs and PACs and I think she may have said SVTs also. Anyway, as I understand it, these are more annoying than a major heart issue. They gave me a prescription for Magnesium Oxide that I will start tonight and see if it helps get them under control.5 -
Decided to give this try as per a suggestion of a friend. Last month (Feb) I set a personal goal of 30 miles (yeah, that's total miles in one month). Hahaha! Boy I am newbie! Made just over 17 miles in 1 month, I'm walking (in some hills when the snow wasn't around) ~ 3 to 3.5 mph with varying times. I have a long stride.
So for March I set another goal of 20 miles. Sounded doable. I 'wan' 35 miles! 😳 OK, March is a longer month. But not that much longer!
So I got bold enough to try joining this group. (Don't laugh too hard.)
I'm not going to try to double my miles again in one month, but I will try to run more, I'm interested in the interval walk/run I'm hearing about.
So that's my story. Didn't start April well, dealing with some changing meds. Here goes:
April 1: 0.59 miles
April 2: 1.11 miles
April 3: 0.49 miles
April 4: 2.50 miles
I need to figure out how to use the ticker and get a BBCode

@skippygirlsmom good to see you back. Great running by you and Skip. I love the whiskey bottle souvenir. The Baker's cyst sounds not fun, especially after reading @rheddmobile's experience.
@avidkeo and @eleanorhawkins great to see you check in as well.
@polskagirl01 I'm sure you are exhausted and bless you for what you are doing to help people from Ukraine. You are doing great to stay so active in all your workouts. Take care of yourself as well!

Oh hey, it was a lovely day and I ran outside! I met a friend after work because I certainly didn't want to pass up a 59 degree day with no rain. She ran a hill workout before I got there, so was only up for a couple of miles with me, but it was a great boost to be running and not uncomfortably cold.5 -
Welcome @klt052194 ! I'm glad you decided to join us! This is a great group. No judging, just encouragement. Join in on any conversation and feel free to ask questions.
@katharmonic Glad you were able to run with a friend today in nice weather.2 -
Welcome @klt052194!! Do not be embarrassed or think that you are running/walking too low mileage or setting a low goal. We have people at all levels and one of our sayings is 'Don't Compare your Chapter 1 to somebody else’s Chapter 20'. Some runners here are just starting out, others have been running for years and some are returning from a break.
@polskagirl01 - sending love and hugs! Your work there is amazing and the families are so lucky to have you to help them manage all the government requirements and then some! I saw on FB that the dumplings are selling faster than you all can make them! Wish we could get some!
@kgirlhart - I love running in the fog! It is cool and just drizzly enough to feel like a rain run but not really!
Hobbes and I had agility class last night and between that, our short run and playing with Beaux the Vizsla puppy, he was exhausted. So today I took Beaux out for a 5 mile 'recovery walk' for me. Apparently he didn't get that memo... he wanted to go, go, go... The good side was that he was tired most of the day today. Played but was happy to sleep in the crate or on the couch next to me. Hobbes did get to go out for a short walk with DH and is zonked out next to me on the couch now. I was hoping to take them both out for a run in the morning but we will see how hot it is. It is supposed to be well over 90F for the next 3 days, ugh... then it will drop back into the low 70's high 60's.
@Teresa502 - pictures under the split 😊Beaux during our walk. He really didn't want to stop and wouldn't look at me for a picture 😁

@kgirlhart May I suggest baby carrots as easily portable donkey treats?
Easy 5k on trails yesterday. Perfect weather and we saw two deer and a barred owl, which seems to be nesting in a particular tree. It flew down and looked right at us, rare to see owls in daylight but it was already dusk and everyone but us had gone home. Well, almost everyone! On the boardwalk heading back we were passed by a teen male runner who is out there all the time - one of the local stars of the track team - and he stopped because of a young couple coming our direction trying to see their way by their phone, who turned out to be from the same school. Overheard, from the young lady: “I’m just out here trying to get my steps in, Andrew!” yeah, uh-huh, very believable. Meanwhile the guy with her is trying to cut conversation with Andrew off as quickly as possible!
So, trying to run by heartrate and keep it below 138. I managed two miles but then said the heck with it and just ran because I was losing my mind going that slow. Oh well.7
